- I purchased a tool bundle on sale with intentions on keeping the battery and returning the tool, but my tool addiction got the best of me. In this video I swap in a different anvil to turn a Milwaukee M12 impact from a 1/4" hex to a 1/4" drive.
Part number for the replacement anvil is 42-06-2552

Cool idea! I picked up the same deal and this little 1/4" drive impact rips. I used a 1/4" drive to 1/2" socket adapter and easily broke loose an old rusty trailer hitch nut. Its crazy what these little tools can do today.
Thanks! I have the M18 1/4” hex impact and I find myself grabbing the M12 version every time over the M18. It’s such an awesome little tool.
Just ordered my part! Thanks!
Just in time. Just got the new m12 impact combo deal yesterday and was wondering what I would do with my older version! I will definitely be doing this thank you for the video!
No problem! Let me know how you like it. I've been using mine for most small jobs I've come across in the last few days.
still looking for a combo deal to do this with, excited
@@LucidAutowerks the anvil came in today and the swap was a breeze thanks to this video. Now to get some Milwaukee 1/4” impact sockets to pair with it. Thanks again for the video!!
@@WesleyDropDead awesome! I’m glad it helped!
i'm literally in the exact same boat lol might as well rip apart the old one now got the new on with battery and charger for 85$
Great video! Do you think it would be possible to do this with the M12 1/2 anvil?
@lucidautowerks do you know if the 3/8" anvil will fot this? Would love a smaller stubby 😂
Noticed you did a 3/8" anvil swap 😅 will that work on the gen 2 as well?
Edit waay too much work i will go with the 1/4" anvil 😅
Do you think I would be able to convert a lineman 7/16 hex impact into either a 3/4 or a 1/2 driver? I have two and would much rather have one set up so I can put sockets straight onto the gun
What is the model number for this gen 2 1/4 hex drive impact?
Can this be done on a walmart hyper tough 3/8" impact? I'm even cheaper and wanted to convert the anvil to 1/4".
i wonder if you can do this with the new gen 3
I’ll give it a try as soon as I can get a hold of one.
Would this work with the 1/4 surge version
Not too sure. I haven’t had the surge apart to check.
Can this be done with a 3/8 anvil instead of a 1/4 inch?
Like this? czcams.com/video/lWHtrn0Fyd8/video.htmlsi=m93Ot4JjX8agLB7f
Will this work on the gen 3?
It will!

Hi, Anyone know how to configure this deal on Home Depot? I cant seem to figure it out. Thanks in advance!
thanks for the awesome content!
It has to be a purchase that says “free battery” or “free tool”. You add the one item to the cart and then select the free item. It’s important that on the invoice and in the cart it shows as two separate items. It should show you the reduced price for each item in the cart. So you check out and pay, then when it’s shipped to your house you bring the item that you don’t want along with your online receipt in to a Home Depot store and ask to return just the one item.
I’ve heard other ways where you have each item shipped to a different store and only pick up what you want and they will automatically refund you for the other item after a certain timeframe. I’ve also heard of people placing an online order and then contacting customer support within 45 minutes and have them cancel the item that you don’t want. I’ve only done the first method.
@@LucidAutowerks Hey man, thanks for breaking down the process for me. I actually inadvertently discovered this hack the other week when I purchased the 1/4 m12 fuel impact driver + m12 Fuel high speed 3./8 ratchet for $250 + a 2.5 amp battery and saw the battery on the receipt separately for ~$52. seemed like a good deal at the time. My question was that when I click on the m12 1/4 impact driver bare tool, it gives me an option for free battery but it's only the smaller battery, 2.0 or 2.5 I cant remember. How did you get it to populate with the 6.0 battery ?
I see you had 4 items in your cart, is it possible that it had something to do with it being bundled with the other two items on one receipt?
The 6.0 deal was only around for a very short time. It popped up, I missed it, and then it popped up for a day or two again. The cart was actually a screenshot from the Tool Deals CZcams channel. It’s worth it to subscribe. He also has a facebook group that people post a lot of deals on. You can also usually find them all on Slickdeals. Just search Slickdeals for “Milwaukee” 👍🏼
Hey do you think a 3/8 Anvil would fit in the housing ?
Not 100% sure but judging by the part diagrams and pictures of the anvils online it kinda looks like you’d need to modify it like when doing the M18 1/2” conversion. I’m going to order a couple of anvils and see what I can do.
I’m also interested in modifying my gen2 driver into a 3/8 stubby
what website did you get the anvil from
I got it directly from Milwaukee. Call 1-800-SAWDUST and ask for part # 42-06-2552. It was around $36 shipped.
✌️👏🏻👏🏻
You know they just make an adaptor right?
Sure, they also sell a 1/4” M12 impact. I like taking things apart and messing with them.
@@LucidAutowerks ahh fair enough, good vid btw
@@happydays2190 thanks! I did the same swap on a Gen3 too - czcams.com/video/CVsR1ySktlY/video.html
Yes, but it sticks out more, making the overall tool longer.
Loses torque with adapter as well
But is it the same motor and rpm
I’d have to check the parts diagrams and compare the two. It’s got selectable speed so it’s been great so far.
@@LucidAutowerks yeah I just made one thanks too you but my anvil doesn't retain the sockets they come off it get lose I bought it exactly where you did
and copied man caver tools who did this a year ago
Are you sure about that? Got a link? He built an M18 Frankenstein last year which I built a few months ago and thanked him in my video. This is an M12 conversion. I checked his videos and I’m not seeing one where he converts an M12.
Your a hater bro
Don’t copy 😂 good job. The more info on these conversations the better
