7 Engines | One Train at Monkey Hill

- Don't miss a single moment of this video. Here's a complete, unedited scene featuring the crossing of two trains at Monkey Hill Cabin. The first train is the 12493 Miraj to Hazrat Nizamuddin Darshan Express, powered by a WAP7 locomotive. On this particular day, I brought along my non-railfan friend, so please excuse our background conversations; he was quite curious about railway operations. Now, onto the moment when the second train enters the scene: it was a WAG9-powered BCN freight train, pushed by 6 WAG7 locomotives. That's an immense amount of horsepower for the rear of the freight train.
Sometimes, when the freight train is fully loaded and exceeds a specific weight, the Karjat crew assigns three extra bankers instead of the usual three to keep the train moving smoothly and prevent stalling. During the rainy season, loaded trains can stall due to reduced friction between the rails and wheels. This challenge is typically addressed through sanding operations, although heavy tonnage can still cause stalls. If you look closely in high resolution, you'll notice the WAG9 using sand to maintain traction.

Why didn't they put extra 3 locomotives in front instead of rear
@@EncoreXGamingPush and pull is more effective in inclined rails than either of push or pull alone.

This is called banker locomotive 🚂
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
To get traction on steep slopes , better control otherwise it will become a RUNAWAY Train.😊
Bhai ye video kaha ki hai location
Karjat lonavala ghat section
Bro why is the catenary different?
Seems normal to me 🤔
Yes this is the regular catenary but I witnessed compound catenary in the Igatpuri-Kasara (erstwhile DC) section. This is implemented if the poles are placed wide apart.
wag9 loco which shed
Patratu
6 WAG7+ 1WAG9 almost 36100 horse power

Logic behind attaching seven engines to a goods train?
In Description
Must have been idling , decided to take a ride with its friends , or the train was running late 😬
@@nikhilanandhegde4781No, actually this is done to avoid stall on gradient.
@@PranitsRailworld what was the ballast carried. Must have been calculated heavy to warrant 3 extra engines
Due to heavy load .
Bankers on mission
It looks like these 7 lazy bankers needed a free ride up the hill than the train needing these bankers to help it climb.
😂😂😂
Karjat Station Master: "Abey bankers kidhar hain? Mereko Pune ek train bhejna hai..."
Assistant: "Sir ek bhi banker nahi hain. Woh sab Ghat par gaye huey hain, dopahar ko aayengey."
Karjat Station Master: "Poori-ki-poori banker gang timepass karne nikal gayi kya???"
