    This video's been updated (again)! In the previous version at around 2:20, the palmar branch is shown extending out onto the thenar eminence. This version's been corrected to more accurately depict the palmar branch extending to the center of the base of the palm, moving superficially to the carpal tunnel. Also, the previous version showed the hand viewed from the dorsal side, this video depicts the hand from the palmar side.

    I had surgery on my left wrist 5 weeks ago, as I fell and that caused a comminuted displaced radial fracture. I had a brachial nerve block and sedation. Now I have a titanium plate screwed into the bone. Is carpal tunnel syndrome common afterwards? I remove the splint every few hours to exercise my fingers and hand. I have feeling in all fingers and thumb, but sometimes I have a burning sensation; it isn't painful, it just feels weird. I had numbness, but that has gone now. Will physiotherapy help?

    I'm a gamer. I use my right hand to click my mouse a lot. So far this is my second "attack" of pain in my right hand. It gets so painful I can't grip small things such as putting a key in the door, can't twist my wrist and can't bend my wrist. When I type, I have no problems. My left hand is also unaffected. I'm the type that will skip the shots and go straight for surgery. When the pain occurs, I take a couple acetaminophen for the pain and go to sleep. Severe pain, then when I wake it is a dull pain.

    • @TheUpperHand
      @TheUpperHand Před 3 lety

      Looks like I’m a little late but typically symptoms worsen at night because people tend to curl up in a flexed position at night causing increased pressure on the nerve. For pregnant women you typically just try to manage the symptoms while pregnant. The symptoms typically go away soon after the baby is delivered.

    I've been working as a cook for 7 years and 9 years ago when I started learning culinary arts in college I was 5'8", 145 pounds at the age of 19 pretty average body type but after school I gained weight and height: 5'10", 185 pounds: the highest weight I've ever reached after that was 235 pounds at 5'10" around the age of 23(I'm 25 y/o now, 5'10" at 195 pounds). Reason why I'm listing my age weight and height is because I know I'm overweight/obese and idk if this is a reason why I have carpal tunnel syndrome or not. But anyways after school and cooking for 4 years(under 200 pounds) I've never had an issue with my wrists/fingers/palm before until now.
    Constantly contracting my hands more and more as I gained more muscle mass in my hands/arms along with gaining more experience in knowing what's needed to be done to perform much larger tasks I've started to develop this CTS.
    I do have top notch CT copper gloves but I really only wear them once a week IF it's bad. I'll try wearing them more often(more than once a day) and see how that goes but any suggestions?
    It's not pins n needles painful, but if I keep any muscles in my hand contracted for too long it starts aching, and when perform simple around the house tasks I notice the aches are always there, as well as simply holding a glass of water in the air: my hands start to shake like I have arthritis.

      If you’re feeling an ache in your forearm that goes down to your wrist it could be pronator teres muscle syndrome. They both compress the same nerve as carpal tunnel and are often confused for the other.
      Only way to find out is see a good doctor that will actually test it.
      Massage therapy is good too, to relieve some pain.
