did you like this video??? do you wanna see more of this kinda content???
Ya,for sure
Yesss...more vlogs
Yes please, love your Insta too!
This was super insightful for a lot of us WFH employees
these types of videos have always been my favorite from you, keep em up man
This should be a standard for 'Day in the Life' videos. Being authentic, explains what the creator is doing rather than just showing screens, foods, and some fancy transitions. A quality content for sure, Kevin.
thanks so much Srejon! glad you enjoyed it :)
man there is nothing worse than losing motivation from being stuck on something - it helps me to take a step back and slow things down. ill grab a pen and paper and just write out the problems im having and walk backwards until i can clearly understand the exact problem, that usually gets me somewhere :)
Love this style of content. Especially hearing more about the technical side of coding day to day. Gives a better insight into what to expect from the career
To help deal with the lunch issue, you can always set a time in your calender so no one can book it later on and they see you are busy. It also helps to have maybe an alarm or something to remind you of it.
This is a great tip! I personally use this not only working from home but in the office as well.
Awesome video, discussing "actual things" done in a day by Software Engineer, unlike showing like other CZcamsrs just about their hom+gym+outside but few only talk about actual day, good stuff bro.
thank you! :)
I feel you on that "stuck" feeling. I volunteered as the liaison for my team for migrating our stuff from Bamboo into Azure DevOps for our CI/CD about a month ago with our DevOps team and I have had to rewrite tests because of the way things work with our on prem servers integrating with Azure. It took me 5 hours today to realize I had a singular flag in a Powershell script that was recursively deleting files ~inside~ of folders instead of the folder itself because I was trying files last week to test it haha. You'll figure it out eventually even though it's hard to feel that in the moment. That feeling of figuring it out is unmatched though. You feel like god that can do anything afterwards lmao.
Amazing vlog, Kevin! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers from Brazil!
thanks so much Eduardo!
this was awesome!!! your life is cool as hell wtf
good luck getting your integration passing! +1 on more of this kind of content, especially liked where you were "just talking" to the camera about the problem you were facing and we could watch you think about it
haha ty! happy you enjoyed the vid and the technical talk too :)
The insight on a real day is great! It's nice to see the struggles instead of a "perfect world"
thanks Nicky!!! :)
Yeah this was really great!! Definitely relate to the debugging lol, i remember spending weeks just getting a test an rpc to work locally 😭
thanks Neet!! and good to know i'm not alone haha :)
the "skipping lunch" part was the point you got me for real. I agree completely. Happens almost all the time. +1 for the video.
Great video, Kevin! Let's see more of this. Some footage of NYC would be cool too.
thanks Ivan! i'll remember this advice for the next vid :)
I really enjoyed this video and found it to be both interesting and realistic. I appreciate this type of content and look forward to watching more.
thank you i appreciate the kind words and i'm happy to know that you enjoyed this kind of vid!
i can totally relate to a frustrating problem derailing my entire motivation to work, happens way too often!
thanks Adam and yes I totally agree it happens A LOT
Oh i thought i was the only, now i feel better
I really like that you show us the problems that you face and the approach you take to solve them
thanks Oscar i'm glad you liked the technical talk!
Rly like the video espacially the part where you talked abt the problems u face. Keep up the good work💪
As a self-taught full stack web developer with a few certifications (A+, CS50, etc), what would you have to learn to transition into Software Engineering at Google? Are algorithms/data structures still important to learn? Is learning particular programming languages important? Are there stacks/software you need to learn beforehand? Etc.
The fact that you have an unresolved problem through your entire day is so accurate for day in the life 😭
Thees kind of videos always motivates me🎉
Hi kevin. What happened to your leetcode Easy and Leetcode Medium playlists? I used to love working through them in order. I don't see them anymore. Have you made it for pay only now? I'm willing to pay. I need to prep for interviews now. Please let me know how I can access them again? Thanks.
NYC is so beautiful think we lucked out to be able to exp. it everyday! think this could be good content, vlog type style always works well!
thanks so much Matt i really appreciate the kind words! i totally agree, we're so lucky to be in nyc and we have to remember not to take it for granted. as always i appreciate your support on my vids
I really like that you're not shying away from talking shop ! Day in the life ain't all lattes and gym footage
tysm! happy to hear that you enjoyed hearing me talk about the problems i was solving (or stuck on) :)
This video was very relatable when I did full time engineering. However engineering manager is like a whole different job, but I'm now an senior administrator which is a bit like this and a lot of problem solving with no help.
Hey Kevin :) Your videos are very helpful for aspiring developers. I used to follow your leet code playlist for solving questions, but currently, it's not available on your channel. Could you please add that again?
Love this video, love the authenticity and honesty of the video. Also we have matching monitors, great choice!
you've got some body mass bulk! what body building supplements do you take?
Would love to see more such videos.
I kinda relate to you, like when I'm solving problems in cs50x course I've to pass the test cases and many times test isn't passing and I've to do a lot debugging to find the issue and solve it.. but after many hours of gazing/searching for long time I finally solve the issue.. 😊
Nice video by the way. 😀
How have you built this problem solving skill , and what would you advice a recent graduate like me about building an engineering brain ?
The sequence, at the beginning of the video, is so interesting to me 😅
I looooove this style of video, this is so well done :)!
Also code Chau!!!! 😂
thanks so much for checking it out Tru! :D
gotta support our friends!! :)
Kevin, thank you
What mic do you use for work meetings?
Cool setup there❤
It’s quite interesting to see this style of day in the life vlogging. And even more interesting to see Juvee a product made m produced by my favorite CZcamsr and former COD pro Nadeshot
i love nadeshot! watched him growing up :)
3:10 The classic "it works on my machine" problem. been there
are you like a backend engineer at google? just curious since you were talking about servers and running test.
Have you always been “remote” (wf NY, team in CA)? Can you just work 9-5pm ET?
yep! i've always been in nyc and luckily i'm pretty much able to work whatever hours work best for me which is awesome
Loved the aesthetic/vibe of this video, Kevin! 😀 and your plants look a lot more alive than my plants lol…. 🪴
hahah tysm Pooja!! and i hope both of our plants can survive our parenting lol
i love this content
thank you so much i'm happy to hear you enjoyed!
What does the c_ou(r)a_n(t) on your hoodie mean?
I just dealt with that exact integration test problem a few weeks ago... it was NOT fun so I feel your pain
One question - don't you reach out to seniors when getting blocked, eg. like post standup, you as people to stay on call and then try to resolve your problem, because we do this generally so asking...
yes definitely! i discussed being blocked with people offline about these tests. with integration tests specifically since it involves other teams' services there isn't always an "easy" way to get unblocked from team members since they don't usually have in depth knowledge about these other binaries. integration tests are also pretty heavy tasks in general and take a lot of time to spin up and maintain
Great video Kevin! Let's hangout in NY!!!
thanks John! i'm excited to get coffee or sm!
more vlogs!!!
Those guns are super pumped up 💪💪
Great video. What games were you guys playing?
thanks Tim! we were playing team fight tactics and ori and the blind forest :)
Keep us updated on when you solve these failing tests! My bet is you'll solve it while showering lol.
got past the issues in this video and am now stuck on other issues still related to integration testing. showering always reveals the answer :P
I m a software engineering student at a university 2nd year, my question to you sir is most of my seniors and those currently working are saying degrees no longer matter, why can't you jus do certificates like with @Google bla bla and drop the degree bcz u are wasting a lot of time. What would be your advice
i think you have to find what works best for you. degrees aren't required to work as a swe, but some people like the structure. once you get an interview for a company everyone is on the same playing field regardless of their background, etc. find what works best for you to learn and grow as an engineer and stick with it
You are on the right track sir. The Software Engineering degree you're pursuing will play a pivotal role in your professional growth as a SWE. It is true that most tech companies, especially those in the Silicon Valley removed Degree as an entry barrier into the tech job market and are even providing online courses for those who'd wish to get into the field. Your SWE might help you when negotiating salaries but what will matter the most is your skillset. Hope this helps you.
PS: I'll be bagging my Actuarial Science degree next year but I'm on the self-taught route into Web/Software Development.
Awesome video! 🎊 ❤
thanks Jason! :') ♥️
I really like the way you explained what you were doing. Grant it stinks your on a bug and can't explain in detail everything is going on, but at least you didn't say More Coding. Got a new Sub from this~
thanks for subbing and glad you enjoyed :)
i thought you were trolling in this video most of the video is for eating then gym and gaming ?? .. how much work do you actually do in a day 4 hours ?
Good luck !. 🙏🤞 !.
We need an update when your integration tests pass!!!
The last game is one of my favorites
it's so good

Here from Twitter☺️... Love the content
thank you for coming and checking out the vid i really appreciate it and i'm happy you enjoyed :)
Love seeing the TFT :D
ty and i'm so bad at it hahaha
Glad to know I’m not the only one taking days to solve integration test issues 😂
Will AI not affect us as software engineers in future and if so how best can best can we do to avoid them
i don't think ai will replace engineer, i think ai will help engineers be more efficient. learn how to work with ai tools
Thank u
what does your sweatshirt mean?
it's the math/cs building of the college i graduated from (nyu)
Awesome video
ty
Big Fan Kevin 🙌
ty Akash i really appreciate your support :)
I like.

great video. whats the name of your curved monitor ?
thanks! amzn.to/3NpJpoH (affiliate link)
Thank you
I'm jealous of the $200 omakase!!! 🍣😋
omg it was so good
debugging integration tests is nightmare fuel
Dream job❤
it's a good one for sure
When the server is too small 😤😤😤😤
my server is always too small
Hi Kevin, @ 2:30. I work in tech with code as well (IC1 level). I am going through this feeling right now. I am progressing with the help of some teammates but its still slow. But I know the feeling. Alas, we're gonna make it!!!
ou est votre femme calri?
I hope you ain’t next 😂
Find neetocde??!
haha Kevin, I think you need to hit the gym a bit more regularly! :)
i am beginning to deflate
But but but have you considered asking AI
bro your monitor is too low!!!!
i never know how high/low to put it i always change it
@@KevinNaughtonJr I think it has to be eye-level. I got mine on stacked books cause my table is a little lower than perfect. If you have it too low it can cause you to bend your neck and head too much forward.
Sir do you want 300000 dollars a year as a google software engineer in NYC? Plz reply. Thanks a lot.
there's endless resources online that talk about how much engineers make :)
Integration tests really are the WORST.
they are PAIN (but v important)
first
second?
@@KevinNaughtonJr ur videos always motivates me to work my ass of ty
@@youssefhussein3128 ty for supporting my content! and i'm glad i can help motivate you, keep working hard it always pays off
I feel sad that no matter how hard you try, you'll always be Jr
