- The Hokies got the 2023 season started on a good note with a home win. After losing to Old Dominion in 2022, Virginia Tech got a 36-17 victory in Blacksburg. The Hokies only led 16-10 at halftime, but they dominated the second half. Quarterback Grant Wells threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns on 17-29 passing. Wells ran the ball seven times for 27 yards and a touchdown as well. Old Dominion transfer Ali Jennings caught five passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns for Virginia Tech. Jaylin Lane had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown.

The Hokies are lucky ODU coughed the ball up 3 times and gave you 3 scores, else you lose this game. ODU was running the ball in your faces!
You mean the fumbles VT defense caused? Yeah ok. Whatever makes you feel better. Seeing the fact that both HC are friends, I'm pretty sure VT took it easy on ODU. Technically VT should of had atleast 51 points, but they took this time to practice the run game.

Shouldn't they be playing like Ohio State or LSU? ODU game is essentially Virginia Tech's Super Bowl every year!
@@xero925 Tech is rebuilding and is coming off their worst season in 30 years, pipe it down over there. They won 36-17 and completely dominated ODU in the second half.
@@xero925they’re playing every year because it helps with recruiting in the state, which was bad under the previous coaching staff. And the two head coaches are best friends from when they were coordinators at Penn State, so that’s two reasons for them playing each other and another for why Tech didn’t try to run it up at the end
