Lyrics:
Ex-Factor
What is meant to be, will be
After winter, must come spring
Change, it comes eventually
I wrote these words for everyone
Who struggles in their youth
Who won't accept deception
Instead of what is truth
It seems we lose the game,
Before we even start to play
Who made these rules? We're so confused
Easily led astray
Let me tell ya that
Ex-Factor
Ex-Factor
After winter, must come spring
Ex-Factor

So proud of her. Her album was named the number one album of All time. It wasn't about sales, it was about content and creativity. It was over The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and even Steve Wonder. Keep in mind that this is the only Solo album she made. It's Still the Best ❤❤❤❤
To me it is just generic a&b, not much creativity.
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotesthankfully nobody asked you ☺️
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotesstop hating
@@Gumardee_coins_and_banknotesdo you think she is the reason it sounds generic?
@@TheRandomThings23 Not always, to her and others it might not be. It depends on music tastes and life experiences.
She explained a toxic relationship to the tee. I've been in this situation too many times. Thinking we're making progress and being shot down to be told it's not working. And then every time i was ready to end it, this person would jump every obstacle and climb every mountain to get me to stay. It took me 7 years to get out of the situation for good and this song just sends me back every time i hear it.
It's a true blessing that you ended that toxic relationship with someone who sounds like a classic manipulator. Good for you! sending strength and light to those who are trying to find the courage to do the same.
Everything is a lesson good or bad it's meant for u half the time u in a bad relationship with something it makes you who u are

EdgeofGlory261 the best
She's about to go back on your for the 20 year reunion of The Mis-education of Lauryn Hill
EdgeofGlory261 She was too real for the music industry....
EdgeofGlory261 the problem was her raw talent exceeded all expectations and elevated beyond the boundaries in place and the music industry was not ready or capable of comprehending lyrical and production and musical PERFECTION on one album. The industry failed her.

You let go and I let go too. Maybe that's what GOD wants of Us. If We let go, We can truly embrace God's Presence. I'm created in GOD's Image but I know for a fact that GOD wants me to learn important lessons that only He can provide. When people come into Our Lives they must be Vetted and truly understood. Many people talk the talk but don't walk the True Path that Christ layed before us. Its ultimately our decision to be followers of Our Beautiful Creator!

Some of us are part of the younger generation and didn’t get to experience this music but we can’t help that. Music is so therapeutic. Heard this last night at work since forever & I still remembered every line. Although he's a different genre, that's why I love Trent Reznor (NIИ). He has written every lyric himself & he went through some very dark times. To know that someone you respect knows what it's like makes you feel less alone. Now, he's in his 50s, has a stunning wife (Mariqueen Maandig), 5 kids & is getting his due respect in the industry. He's one award away from an EGOT, putting him in the same group as John Legend, Elton John & very few others.
The standard for music and fashion and overall influence was Extremely high in the 90’s, every top artist had to be extraordinary

I am so blessed to have been alive to personally experience that Lauren Hill, India Arie, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, Angie Stone (ect) music era praising natural minimalist black beauty and brown skin. The ending of this time period praising beautiful black woman is the start of the sabotaging of the image of brown skin and natural hair being beautiful which lead to this fugazi ass era we are in now where black woman are not taking pride in themselves because they don't feel like they are enough and black men dishonoring the culture by disrespecting and degrading his counterpart more frequently and publicly while simultaneously uplifting the Europeans standards of beauty. We are trying to get back there and I have absolutely no doubt that we will in time. I love you Ms. Lauren Hill, thank you.

Truth! Soul speaking.
Just wanna give thanks to Lauryn. This song epitomizes my first real relationship with my first real love. He was abusive emotionally & at times physical. This song gave me strength to leave him, and to value myself. I took a long break from dating, did some soul searching, and eventually found the man I was meant to be with. We've been together for over 20 years now.
And also who’s watching in 2024 still?
If you were brave enough to walk away from a toxic relationship like this I'm proud of you. Only a broken few will truly understand.
I understand fully
It took me 13 years and four kids... I Thank The Most High Yah that it's over 🙏🏾💜
❤❤❤❤
It's took me 12 years it was TOXIC!!!!!! Disrespect, cheating with his baby mother another child in picture lies I think I lost my self esteem thank God I am recovering this song make me stronger
Sure did and haven’t looked back or recreated it since, chil’🙏🏾🙌🏾
It could all be so simple
But you'd rather make it hard
Loving you is like a battle
And we both end up with scars
Tell me who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will
Is this just a silly game
That forces you to act this way?
Forces you to scream my name
Then pretend that you can't stay
Tell me who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will
No matter how I think we grow
You always seem to let me know
It ain't workin', it ain't workin' (no, it ain't workin')
And when I try to walk away
You'd hurt yourself to make me stay
This is crazy, o this is crazy (this is crazy, uh-huh!)
I keep letting you back in
How can I explain myself?
As painful as this thing has been
I just can't be with no one else
See, I know what we've got to do
You let go, and I'll let go too
'Cause no one's hurt me more than you
And no one ever will
No matter how I think we grow
You always seem to let me know
It ain't workin', it ain't workin' (it ain't workin'!)
And when I try to walk away
You'd hurt yourself to make me stay
This is crazy, this is crazy
Care for me, care for me!
I know you care for me!
There for me, there for me!
Said you'd be there for me!
Cry for me cry for me
You said you'd die for me
Give to me give to me
Why won't you live for me
Care for me, care for me!
I know you care for me!
There for me, there for me!
Said you'd be there for me!
Cry for me cry for me
You said you'd die for me
Give to me give to me
Why won't you live for me
Care for me, care for me!
You said you care for me!
There for me, there for me!
Said you'd be there for me!
Cry for me cry for me
You said you'd die for me
Give to me give to me
Why won't you live for me
Care for me, care for me!
You say you care for me!
There for me, there for me!
Said you'd be there for me!
Give to me give to me
Why won't you live for me
Cry for me cry for me
You said you'd die for me
Where were you when I needed you
La da da da da da da

Thanks a whole lot. Remind me of my music book
The last part, I cry every time. Such an amazing, heartfelt from the soul, most beautiful song. It hits me right in the feels with so much power.
Thnx
She went from tranquil peace to dark chaos and pain. This is what an abusive relationship does to your life.
Oldies are the best. Bring the youth in me❤❤

Artists dont make music like this anymore....who's listening in 2021
Nope
Amy Winehouse was the last standout female performer similar to this sound.
If you don't know her already, check out Jasmine Sullivan. She's great and still doing stuff in 2021

Why won’t you live for me?!? This song was so ahead of its time. Love it. 😊
Back when lyrics were written by the artist and their VOICES sold millions of albums without having to shake their asses. I miss Lauryn, we need her back and to put out at least one more album. 😭
madea omggg yesss i totally agree
no, i'd be heart broken if it missed the mark and didn't come close to this album, this is one of the greatest projects ever put together nothing will ever come close
madea so totally agree with you T.T
madea she left fame because she was fed up with the overly sexual game.
