RIP. Rutger Hauer you are not forgotten like tears in rain. The best scene in cinema ever.
yes
I stood next to him once in a shop in Cape Town of all places. Idiot me never said hallo!
Questo monologo è geniale lo riguardo spesso
He died?
I understand that Rutger wrote that speech himself. Kudos dude. RIP.
The story goes that the monologue was meant to be much longer. Rutger told the director he did not think it had to be and modified it, so that it was shorter and slightly different. We are all glad that he did. I think it would have lost it's impact if he had left it as originally written.
@@lukewise1227Sometimes, less is more.
@@slappy8941 You're preaching to the converted.
@@lukewise1227 But he's not preaching, he said it succinctly. Which is the point of Rutger shortening the script version.
'@@nephos100'Preaching to the Converted' does not mean 'preaching' in the literal sense. It is an old English phrase that means to speak for or against something to people who already agree with one's opinions.
Rest In Peace Rutger, you are not forgoten!
They don't make movies like this anymore. One of the classics.
Dune was OK and the blade runner sequal, but yeah when was the last great syfi the music, the atmosphere.....it was so futuristic
Ridley Scott is a genius
We're a lucky generation
@@jeanfrancois125
Agreed.
He is but half of the charm of Bladerunner is the music..dont forget Vangelis...Now he was a Genius
Blade Runner is not a masterpiece. Blade Runner is THE Masterpiece.
💯
Yup. Hands down!!!
Timeless. In an age where movies are dog shit (fhanks super hero movies saturating the market with drab), this film looks as though it was made last year. It's stunning. Let's go back to this. Take the time to craft something beautiful so the next generation can be inspired.
Correct the modern world is easy pleased
I’m sorry my friend but society it’s too stupid for this.
Those moments we lost , like tears in the rain.
Even back then the movie start to make money 3 years after official premiere. People weren’t ready for this piece of art.
I agree but we get what majority wants. Not glorious. Sometimes a new star appears and shines. Not often. I am sure this movie is important in the way I see life now. We were lucky as young people
For our generation, the generation of freedom, creativity, ingenuity, ( 1950., 60., 70. ).., a time to die
No
This movie, to me, was and still is way ahead of it's time.
I was stationed at Lowery Air Force base in Aurora, Colorado when this movie came out in 1982.
I went by myself and watched it at the theater and was just captivated by it.
The music of Vangelis really fits this movie perfectly.
@@ebayerrUma lenda , sem palavras 😔 esse filme
Yes and has stills.
Only logical. It's Sci-Fi.
Buen remake de metropolis
I love this scene. Pure truth, all our experiences will be lost in the ocean of time
One if the saddest, most powerful scenes in the history of movies. The music and visuals are as much in sync as anything I've ever seen on film. Beautiful and sad simultaneously. 😢❤️💯
i'm french i saw this masterpiece when i was 10 ... the voices in french are awesome " Tout ses moments se perdront dans l'oublie ... comme les larmes dans la pluie " so powerful words , even cyborgs could have nostalgia ! czcams.com/video/n3ERYHYE_dQ/video.html
Totally agree !!!!! Changed my perception when young to what future could be. Ridley Scott made a profound movie away ahead of it's time . RIP. Rutger ( Roy Batty ) Hauer . " Tears in Rain "
It hits me every time
The visuals are sick and I couldn't agree more 👍
but of Rutger Hauer.. he was so awesome. the book Do androids Dream of Electric Sheep is only loosely based on the movie
R.I.P. Vangelis, one of the greatest electronic musicians ever... 😢❤
Hauer should of won an award for his role as Roy Batty. Truly memorable.
Rest in peace Rutger Hauer! 🙏🙏
And Vangelis................
j'adore cet acteur.
Der weiß was geht
What a performance ❤
RIP Vangelis and Rutger
The best monolog never played . It's simply fantastic and tragically emotional
RIP Rutger and Vangelis
You think it is, but you've never watched Charlie Chaplin's in "The Great Dictator."
czcams.com/video/w8HdOHrc3OQ/video.html
The more often I watch this movie, the more I realize that it is one of the best movies I ever saw. Oddly enough, this was not the case from the beginning. First time I saw it, my enthusiasm had it limits. But as time gone by and I got older and older I got complete other feelings. The Tears in Rain Scene gets me meanwhile everytime I see it.
Maybe Rutgers greatest performance.
RIP Rutger
It is rutger"s best performance, just think that the silly top gun movies r much bigger than this movie,, it shows u that there r more dumb people than smart people out there, 😆
From day one this film had a profound affect on me , thought the performances from all actors were outstanding in keeping with predictions of the future. And the soundtrack , no words just WOW !!!!! Everything came together Ridley Scott , Cast and crew. Not to forget the late great Vangelis and Rutger Hauer. Still The Best Film 10/10
In life there are survivors and there are those that renounce their privilege of freedom. I'm the former, and if a character resonated profoundly on the person I am as I am, it would have to be Rutger Hauer in this movie. And I bear a morphological resemblance of a few singers and actors, not Rutger Hauer. I have been asked if I am Austrian, the answer is no. The saying everything happens to me? I am that person. The poignant line: By Rutger's character, I have seen things many have never witnessed.....It's no surprise people think I am an alien. Happy travels where ever you are...
@@brando7266 I also liked him in Blind Fury, lol
When we're young, we rarely appreciate the things we come to cherish as we get older.
Rutger Hauer was an absolute gem, star of Blade Runner & a much underrated actor. I was so sad when he died. RIP lovely man 💔
Lovely moment when the "replicant" shows he's a better human being by his humanity❤️
Pure masterpiece...in every possible way. Beautiful, terrifying, heartbreaking, magnificent. The late Rutger Hauer wrote in his book "All Those Moments" that his portrayal of Roy Batty in "Blade Runner" was the best job he ever had. Yes, it was...and he was and still is the heartbeat of this gorgeous classic. Marvelous!
Very well described and accurate...
I remember the first time I watched this movie, this monologue brought me to instant tears. It was spectacular in every regard.
I`m near 60. I think, it´s one of the best films ever. RIP Rutger. But all respect to all the other actors from this film. Ein großes "Dankeschön" für diesen fantastischen Film 😊
Probably the best scene ever in any movie …. Timeless !!
One of the greatest monologues ever (thank you Rutger, may you rest in peace eternal), in one of the greatest movies ever made, with one of the best soundtracks ever (thank you Vangelis, RIP). One of the few movies I've watched again and again and never tired of it.
Even if someone (somehow) hated Blade Runner, they could never deny the power of this scene. With one monologue, Roy Batty goes from a chilling, unhinged psychopath to a sympathetic person who has reached the realization that everything he's ever been is about to be swept into oblivion. Masterful.
Rutger Hauer, one of my all-time favorite actors acting in one of my all-time favorite scenes in one of my all-time favorite movies.
RIP RUTGER HAUER! What a great actor and sadly missed.
Agreed.
For me One of the most beautiful moment of cinéma.
The music still defines a whole genre. RIP Vangelis
Roy Batty is essentially telling Deckard that his life meant something. That his life mattered. That all his experiences and places he was are meaningful and that, in the end, he is real.
Absolutely;
I’ve only re-discovered this iconic scene in a film that is timeless and we don’t get many of those anymore.
I saw this in theatre 🎭 in 82 and it remains one of my top 10 films in my brief life so far here on earth 🌍
You've done a man's job, Sir.
Beautifully put.
@@helsing1243 Best response to a post ever!
And also that he liked to live and hurts to go. (He is crying)
Rutger his eulogy text, this was truly his favorite
Not just the best scene in Bladerunner, but one of the best scenes in cinema history. I spoke with his daughter and she told me that it was his favorite scene as well. RIP, Rutger Hauer.
Such an incredible beautiful moment caught in an iconic movie. Almost forty years later still has so much power.
Pure 100% Art !!! are the only words I can explain what I think of this masterpiece.
I was 18 when I first watched this ,I am now 57 and I get tears watching it.
Agreed.. 😢 … the sadness and sense of loss in this scene is incredible.
you are not alone in your sentiments. it was a film built to last...and it does...and it will.
Same as I was i think 16 im now just turning 57 totally agree im an actor now amature but inspired
Lots of memorable lines.
My all time fav: 'The light that burns twice as bright, burns for half as long ..and you Roy have burned ever so brightly....'
Helped me rationalise as to why the good die young .
Wonderful sad, heartbreaking moment when Roy Batty knows that he will die shortly. Rutger Hauer should have been awarded for this scene alone.
Modern producers will never be able to replicate the atmosphere and performances of the original film. This is a masterpiece for the ages.
2049
I really enjoyed Bladerunner 2049 too. Beautiful films
@@acrustykrab But there are no actors like Rutger Hauer, and Harrison Ford makes cameo appearances, Ryan Gosling cannot replace them.
The music of the great Vangelis made this movie infinitely far better.
RIP dear master.
He improvised those lines on the moment,it wasn't in the script.
And created a scene among scenes in film, such brilliance on his part.
It was more than a movie at that point for him,he was living it.
They couldnt have pi ked a more brilliant man to play the role of a lifetime.
100%!!!
Yep. watched the directors commens DVD. I don't have the words
Possibly the best 4 minutes of acting ever. In a movie filled with great acting.
Crazy your comment has 12 hits...utterly right on...such passion.
This scene, words, and music.....I have no words to describe how is so fantastic...
Rest in peace Rutger
You played the part so beautifully
Rutger Hauer, what a performance one of those cinematic moments you’ll never forget.
A perfect line that wasn't scripted but meant in its purity..........
One of the best movies EVER made.........The cinematic content is off the frickin' chart!! RIP Rutger, you will always be missed friend.........
My all time favourite film.
Everything was magnificent
Superb Vangelis😍
One of the greatest movies ever made🌟❤️
totally
I miss Rutger Hauer. sleep well friend thanks for all the years of joy and all the different personality's you have shared with us.
Me too.
Rutger, I miss you ❤️
He died the same year as Roy,
in 2019. Synchronicity.
Life is so mysterious.
Am I the only one who noticed this "coincidence"?
There no Coincidences
Rest in peace, Vangelis Papathanasiou.. you were truly mesmerizing..
And you, Ruther Hauer.. you deserved so much better .
This is a great film. Rutger made it inmortal.
Rudger Hauer will never die......
Take care friend.
And Vangelis.............
One of the best movies ever made...
These were his own words.
Beautiful actor with a Beautiful mind. He made that scene using his own thoughts. Truly incredible
After reading all the comments I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels the same way about this scene, along with the actor, entire movie and how wonderfully poetic those words are. I feel good knowing this movie will live in the minds of people in the future. So great on so many levels.
When I was young I adored this movie. I cherish it now. Such a great story, told by such great people.
We are like a blink in time now and never again
this film is a masterpiece, including the music, which is incredibly sensitive
Iconic . One of the best scenes ever in cinema :)
Ridley Scott's work leaves a precedent of thought.. I've always found some of his works, deep, mysterious, philosophical. Rewatching again, having multiple hidden meanings, especially as you change with your life your own perceptions attitudes.. He holds the mirror up very well.
Incredible book, movie, cast, soundtrack. This masterpiece will stand forever.
Grazie a tutti
The BEST sci-fi film ever made.
Music sets up the ambiance of the film properly. Vangelis scored a great composition. Never be anything like it again.
Unforgettable masterpiece... "I've seen things you wouldn't believe, attack ships in flames from Orion's shoulder, I've seen C-Beams shine in the dark near the Tannhäuser gate, all these moments will be lost in time... Like tears in the rain... Time to die."
This, cinema, this gift to humanity dawned on the scene 40 years ago. Nothing ever came out that is as good.
this film is a classic never to be bettered. that scene is probably still going to be viewed in the future as an absolute masterpiece
I had not seen it in english when i was young, and i realize the beauty of those words are even highter in the original version. Bless him to have surprisingly come up with its own final.
To add this, the theme is splendid... 🥰
This movie is a masterpiece !
Even today, with all the computer technology and special effects, this could not be filmed better, even after more than 40 years !!!
Hauer God bless in the SKY 😭❤️ the best performance forever.
This Is Epic. One Of The Greatest Scenes In Movies Ever Made. Timeless Masterpiece.
RIP Rutger, a great actor for the ages.
What a wonderful experience Blade Runner is. I was teeange when I saw this movie and still today almost 40 years later is one of the greatest movies ever made. This scene in particular is a masterpiece.
RIP Rudger 🙏
Number 1 beautiful moment on film ❤
Your quality, enable us to filter your tears, from the rain. Thank you Rutger!
Works like this movie, mostly ignored at first, but they ripple out across time and our lives until we finally realize the truth of them. The power of such things keeps us alive and moving ahead. Beauty in cinema.
It's my understandiing that Rutger Hauer actually wrote this scene. I believe it because he does it as if he's really talking personally. About himself and all of us transient, living things who spend our entire lives trying to make our lives mean something, and in the end, it all is gone, "like tears in rain".
after all this time, i still get shivers up my spine seeing this scene. perfection is not easy to come by but, here we see it.
the soundtrack is amazing. I still listen to it. Blade runner blues. Blade Runner love theme Vangelis
Brilliant story.
Goes down as one of the greatist SiFi movies of all time... So far ahead of its time, that people didn't even understand how brilliant this movie was!! I saw it in the theaters x3 times!!
Im still crying, seeing and hearing this stunning picture and music.
There are a few movies I'd pay again to see in the cinema. This 1 , top of the list.
Absolutely. I've been obsessed since I was a child in 1982.
All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.
Ridley is a genius, Vangelis is marvelous, Phillip K Dick was a visionary
Yes amazing film and now 42 years later we are again appreciating how great it was and particularly this sequence. Timeless.
I think I read somewhere this monolog was not entirely scripted. Rutger's ad lib really added something special to the scene.
The best monologue in a movie ever, and to this day my favorite movie. Never a movie that better asked the question of what it is to be a human being.
Never forgot that beautiful tragic scene ,magnificently played by Rutger Hauer.
Masterpiece.
The more I age, the more powerful these words become to me.
So Beautiful
They disappear like tears in the rain
Back in the days when movies were made out of inspiration, and actually were Art.
I've seen things that Rutger Hauer would not have believed ! lol ..Blesssings to him for the eternal sleep ! ..a wonderful actor !!
