Enjoy!
Played Yu-Gi-Oh for 12 years, but I still review basics once in a while. This video helps to shorten the time of reviewing.
But what happens when I pull a Joey and use 99% monsters?
+ryan wiley you'll likely fail
lol wtf manXD
unless you have some super uber spell or trap, good luck
Say hello to Superheavy Samurai.
Say hello to Dark Mirror Force and Double Trap Hole
in my opinion, if you're playing a deck based on a certain archetype/ attribute/ type, 40 is perfect. However, if you just have random cards that don't affect on each other, 60 is the way to go XP
I prefer the second one with the 60 cards. it makes it much more interesting and difficult. Pretty much the bad things you shouldn't do he mentioned in this video
Sometimes 60 card decks can upset well constructed decks just because of the randomness but I wouldn't use them as a standard :D
I don't usually have 41+ cards in my deck, but when I do, it's Elemental Heroes 😂
Squadd I am collecting all of the,
Yes
Yeah my first time at a tournament I was like 10 and noobing out hard. I had a ~60 card Jaden deck. Winged Kuriboh lv 10 and the chrysalis monsters and everything else. Fml
Yeah...me too...I love using Elemental Hero Great Tornando
I have one hole deck just about element el heros
I'm glad finally someone can explain in depth. The other videos failed to do so.
I had 60 but now I have 50, I don't know what cards to remove they all seem useful
Daniel Trinh hey if they work, they work
Same thooo
Hhh
I’m bad at making decks
Daniel Trinh same problem bro
@ it depends, if you consistently open HT and also combo, it works
@@teddytheperson9232 me too :(
2:10 with subtitles is so unexpected.
Thats the MegaMan 7 level entering song as your intro... I love that detail good job guys
Thank you Nintenbruce, I followed your advice and I won People who were using
Cyber Decks
Crystal Beast Decks
Duston Decks (My judge was using a duston deck)
Elemental Hero Decks
Dragons/Spellcasters
Spellcasters
Dark/Light Deck
And i won all these dudes using my Warrior/Spellcaster Deck. You have earned a subscriber :D
Well thank you very much kind sir :D
I'm glad the video helped you out. As long as people can use this video to build better decks and get a more consistent game with it then my job here is done :)
The little things in the upper left you added made it alot more enjoyable to watch this video Thanks!!
You're more than welcome buddy!
I understand that nearly twenty minutes of my voice and plain text by itself can be a bit much :D
What are your views on Pot of Greed? I don't count that in my 40 card deck because all it does is let you draw 2 cards so it's always good. You never draw it and think "ah F#&!" because there's no reason to not want it.
+Mayron's Hideout that's why it's banned
There are instances of ahh fuck I drew pot of greed! Even allowing forbidden cards, pot of greed could be bad.
I belive that pot of greed can be used to shorten even more a deck, but i guess i'm the 63 cards kind of guy.
Phenomenal video. I loved it. Very helpful! the little notes on the side were funny, and they kept me from doing and thinking those things myself, like when you were talking about extra decks and xyz monsters. Very informative, and entertaining video. Subscribed.
Thx for this great vid. I just started yu gi oh a few days ago and this really helped
Thanks buddy! I'm glad this helped you get a good grasp of deck building straight away.
Just remember that practice makes perfect :)
lemme ask you something if I draw these five cards: Blue Eyes White Dragon, Copycat, Any two four star monsters and, a Burst Stream of Destruction while my opponent has a god card on the field, is that good?
Pat Lorungroj If you had that exact hand I would be worried but Copycat can I least suicide into it and take it out!
ok thx
I love the video and the guy in the corner of your video said a line that I have told myself before many times, "Must work first time." messes me up every time.
My deck is like 40% monsters and 60% spell
DAMNNNNNNN
Make a video on it
Ah is that good?
Sky Strikers with handtraps?
Ive always watched Yu-Gi-Oh as a kid; and now I finally know how to play it. Thanks man, I appreciate the video.....
+andre cabanilla One card I'll mention straight away is the XYZ monster Abyss Dweller.
It boosts water monster attack power and has another nice side effect.
There are plenty more that can help your water deck become more powerful but I'll leave that for you to search for.
Like 103 & 101!
Morgan Fleming Exactly!
*+nintenbruce*
:D
We need an updated version of this video for the new generation!
nyuuchan356 At some point I'll get to extentions of this tutorial like Pendulums, XYZ etc.
Just don't have enough time at the moment :)
This was a very very good video. I've been playing semi-competitive (mostly locals) for quite some time, so i knew all of this. But i still think the video is great, you compatibility explanation is one of the best i've ever seen. Keep on the good work man!
dragon swarm deck sounds like a fun idea. I love dragons.
You sir, might want to look at Dragunitys as an option.
They can go pretty crazy! Especially with Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Hieratic Dragon King Of Atum.
See what you can come up with ;)
😏 dragon capture jar 😉
thank you for the tips nintenbruce I just started playing and this information is vary useful
aye here because of the new yu gi oh appp
Serch Light Same.
What app?
hes probably referring to duel links
Yugipedia?
i loved the side comments in this vid. great for starters to the game and people who have been playing for years. this has really given me somthings to think about, thank you!
Thanks buddy! I'm glad you took something with you from this video. Plus the side comments are half joking and half actual objections from people I've tried to help!
nintenbruce Oh BTW i subbed because of this vid.
rvbfan18 Thanks dude! I hope to make more tutorials but life's just keeping me busy at the moment.
nintenbruce your other content is awesome in the meantime. i you get time could you do another horror game?
rvbfan18 There might be yet another one on the horizon...
so what cards should i run in my burn water beatdown dragon deck?
Hadn't watched this vid since 2013, I remember watching it when I started playing, since then I've gotten many regional and national tops, and this one vid started thst journey
Ahh, cheers dude! It's definitely a little dated now but the core mechanics I hope can still help people today 😊
Your accent is amazing
Cheers! :D
If you have a deck which relies on the opponent having something specific then you're setting yourself up for a fall. It's like having the card Acid Rain in your deck and praying the opponent uses machine types. If you're relying on the opponent to be a certain type then you need cards to change the opponents type / attribute like DNA Surgery or DNA Transplant.
I personally run a deck that revolves mostly on gaining life points and burning my opponent with monsters that either allow me to draw or have abilities such as not being destroyed once or twice per turn.
i am having moe experience of Yugioh trading card game
Your tips are awesome and you're a really cool guy. You should make tutorials for themed decks like Spellcaster, Dragon, Fiend, etc. and the different support cards that aid and hinder those kind of decks.
Dude it DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU PLAY AND THE FORMAT
It really depends. Every deck relies on different defence mechanisms. That would also be where the side deck comes in to cover your weaknesses or exploit your opponents.
Best thing to do is find out your own decks weaknesses first before altering your deck entirely. If your weaknesses are exploited often in duels then you will want to change your main deck slightly with counter cards for those problems.
We know it's you rabbidluigi
Well, having watched the video, I've got to say it was excellent, I found the tips and humor very good. However, something I'd like to point out .......
At around 3:05 , you mentioned how cards; like "Two-Pronged Attack", are not good cards to run, because they leave you with card disadvantage. This is true in most cases, however, not always. There are cards that can sometimes turn these disadvantages to advantages. For instance; holding with the "Two-Pronged Attack" card, there is no cost before activating the effect, because destroying your cards and your opponents card happen simultaneously. Therefore, the timing will not miss on cards such as "Yubel" or cards in the "Yang Zing" archetype, where the effects activate when destroyed. In cases such as that, cards that usually are disadvantageous in most situations, can become beneficial. This means, that those cards shouldn't be completely disregarded, even if in most cases they should be excluded from a build.
Just thought I'd point that out, really enjoyed the video however, and the music especially. Thanks for posting it, and thanks for the tips.
I kinda understand this and don't
Ive been playing yugioh for ages and stumbled across this video it really helped me build my magician spellbook windwitch deck
20+10+10=40
Dylan Cameron 30 + 15 + 15 = 60
25+8+7

2+2 equals 4
minus 1 that's 3
Quick Maths
*quik mafs*
I agree on the lightsworn front to a degree. If you swarm the field and then det stopped you're practically milling half of your deck!
Ok well not % 100 sure how to play Yu-Gi-Oh but my deck contains 17 elemental heros 3 of my highest cards 10 trap 10 spell if ok someone just gives me thumbs up or advice
Chase Bjorklund Sounds like a good start at the very least. Do you have a win condition, or are you just going for life points? Which Elemental Heros do you have? Which Spells/Traps do you use? We need more info to give advice :)
Cool video. Some good advice with funny captions and dynamic visuals :)
One thing about the 40 card rule: 45 cards can work in rank 4 xyz decks if you can guarantee that the 5 extra cards make a plus all the time (i've run one with kagetokage and a lot of search and draw power)
If you're to play the God cards then I would suggest putting cards which keep field presence so you can summon them easier. Simple cards are Fires of Doomsday to summon tokens and Mystic Tomato (or similar) to keep Monsters on the field while being attacked.
There are lote of different deck types focussed on the Gods so trial out different things :)
You can't go wrong with that structure deck in my eyes.
Depending how long you've left it, it introduces you to synchros as well as new combos with some old monsters :)
Heya buddy!
That is definitely on the cards! I was told about some free software last night to capture what's on my laptop so it will definitely be happening at some stage soon. The exciting thing is that people can then use those decks in the current game!
Stardust can work pretty well with any sort of beatdown deck. Even if you don't have many tuners, if you play Starlight Road then that can definitely put you in a good position.
I love the background music in this video!
My recommendations, these are all my favourites:
1 or 2 twin twisters
1 upstart goblin
2 pot of duality
1 utopia
1 utopia the lightning
1 dark rebellion XYZ dragon
1 solemn warning
1 starlight road
1 stardust dragon
2 blue eyes Chaos max
2 Chaos form
2 advanced ritual art
3 manju
1 raigeki
2 dark hole
2 silver gadget
2 gold gadget
1 magician of faith
These are just some of my favourites, I have many favourite cards!
You have to have both a tuner monster and a non-tuner monster on the field face up. You total the level stars eg. (Plaguespreader Zombie = 2) + (Mystic Tomato = 4) = 6 stars, and you pull out a Synchro monster from your extra deck with that level you've created eg. 6 stars = Iron Chain Dragon. That classes as a special summon and you can place it in face up attack or face up defence.
I will be making a video about it soon enough so keep an eye out :)
If I may also add. If you make a part 2 to this, try mentioning adding several staple or tech cards that are easy to obtain.
the only video the answers my questions straight to the point👌
Thank you for the tips I've been having trouble figuring out how to balance my deck and now I finally have a decent dragon deck
As long as you mean countered as in destroying it when it's set and not when chained to it!
Like I said, it is a brilliant card. It's just going through one stage at a time for basic deck building :)
I didn't think it was going to be THAT basic,I just needed some tips but it was a good video anyway and I suppose i did learn something so thank you
Right now I'm running a Macro Deck and it really works fine for me, and thanks to this video I might update it sooner or later, the only thing in the video I was kinda frustrated about was the "You got to run an extra deck" I know it's important and all, but I only use 1 XyZ monster Number 80, and it works out fine, so I really don't think you got to run a extra deck at all. (Of course it could be convenient, not gonna deny that xD)
Trust me buddy, it's better to be over prepared than under prepared. Maestroke The Symphony Djinn is always a good card to have in the Extra deck.
You don't have to run an Extra Deck at all but trust me, you'll be thankful you did!
Okay. I need some advice for my main deck...(I'll just post the whole list to save you trouble..)

Suggestions for cards I should take out or add in is appreciated Thanks!
well put! almost exactly the advice id give all the local kids 10 years ago when i was all but unbeatable... now several of them are traveling, top 8 regionals, and day 2 Y.C.S. events and they admit its almost solely this type of synergised stratagy concept that all their understanding of yugioh! is the founded from. one even travels and makes money playing magic, so the idea is kind of a universal law. thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for the video! Really helped me build my new warrior-dragon deck!
+Jolink Gaminge Ghostrick are frustrating to against but awesome to use!
They are strange in a good way! Ojama Country knocking down most decks attack power to something abysmal is always welcome :)
Cheers buddy! Trust me, we all reach that point and it can happen at any stage.
If you think the idea can work then definitely stick with it for a while longer!
I haven't quite started (or finished) watching the video, and it is a few years old, but I feel I just have to comment my deck set here. I don't use an archetype. My usual deck set is just a 40 card hodge podge of 20 monsters, all effect of course, ten spells, and ten traps. Its how I made my deck in the video games.
Im building a Hero Deck! Thanks for the tips !
Most Cards, yes ARE 'Banned/Forbidden' Within the Advanced format (legal Tournaments) But In the Traditional as in a friendly card game they are limited. I think it means , use whatever you like as long as the rules allows. (Correct me if I'm wrong)
2019 anyone? Also anyone else love Yu gi Oh Duel Academy. I enjoy it the most and idk why
Here in 2019. Also what is yugioh duel academy?
No problem at all buddy! Glad this helped you out.
Now run free into the open world of Yu-Gi-Oh!
thank you for this. this is what I was looking for.
You kinda guessed half my plan!
Yeah, I'll be doing a 'what's good to use' sort of thing at some point but I've just got to get more familiar with the current cards first.
Thanks for this vid I watched it a year ago and it really helped me. But it is really useful now because i am teaching my dad how to play
I run a fire king/ fire fist hybrid, in which i abuse the fire formation cards to boost my monsters atk, while also playing down high avatar garunix and pheonix of the nepthys allowing me to have a clear field for massive direct damage
Card destruction is a forbidden card, I can't use is and no one else can, I really liked that card too
this helped me make a really good blue eyes/ white stone of legend/ red eyes deck, thanks!:-D
That lil dude in the top left is seriously rebellious o.o
I use mainly old cards and I have created a powerful deck with lots of low level earth monsters and the mega rock dragon whose effect is amount of earth types banished by mega rocks spawn x 700.
I do have to say you did help me out by trimming down my deck
The problem with that is Obelisk and Ra can't be targeted by any card effect if summoned correctly. Also, turbo Exodia could win in one turn if given the right hand.
If you really wanted to use Two Pronged Attack then I beg you to use Rageki Break instead so you use one less card.
Cheers buddy! Monarchs are still good. Depending when you last played, there are a lot more special summon cards that you can use so you don't have to wait a turn to tribute for them :)
Coincidentally enough, I'm investigating them at the moment and will hopefully have a deck recipe of them soon enough. By the looks of things though, aim for using the monsters that you personally like the effects of. I know all of them have a negative but there are cards like Second Coin Toss and Reversal Of Fate to minimize the negativity.
Also, chuck in Honest. He's always awesome ;)
Nice Music by the way, It kept me very entertained :)
Go for it buddy! I'd be honoured!
It can be confusing at first. Especially if you're trying to grasp synchros and the like and your opponent is just flying by super quick!
If you need a hand though just ask. All I'll say is Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon if you haven't seen that yet though ;)
It's not quite ready for the current format but put in to the search 'nintenbruce dark horus deck'
Not quite what you were expecting perhaps but it has dragons and awesome effects :)
Great info! Now I'm winning at my league, and the little comment in the top left hand corner had me dying. I had to pause the vid when is said "heart of the cards".
I don't know how I haven't replied to this comment yet but I'm glad things are now working out for you buddy!
Believe it or not, some duelists really do believe in the heart of the cards!
nintenbruce i believe in the soul of the cards :]
I've got lots of decks so listing all those cards would be mental!
If it works for you often then keep it going but I'm sure that the deck can be cut down to make it more consistent.
Where there's a will, there's a way. Depending on the deck it is possible to run both at 40 cards but it can be difficult. You've got the 50/50 mix so that's good. Look at the cards that seem the least useful or the least playable as you're playing matches and try playing without those cards.
Hope that helps buddy.
Man, I used to play yugioh as a kid and I was the undefeated champ. Years later in a senior in highschool and I haven't played it since elementary and all of a sudden I find this football jock who also plays yugioh and I'm once again the champ. But I've learned that I violate the most basic rule of having no more than 40 cards. I go for straight 60. I don't quite understand how people have manipulated the game nowadays
I used a battling boxer deck about 3 years ago, it was kinda boring so I stopped, but if you put 60 cards in it, you can get 5 defense cards easily and just wait with a few mst's in-case of dark hole, especially well with the shield one, cause he's invincible to being destroyed once per turn, I don't remember what the xyz did, I just remembered that it was pretty op if you played it right
You are correct.
I must admit though, in Heavy Storms case it was legal up to September 2013 and then got banned. At the least it shows a good example of the type of cards to be using :)
i use a chain deck if anyone is wondering best works with monsters in any level but have mostly low level monsters it will give you good defence especialy with effect monsters that can bpnot be distroyed in battle
The XYZ monsters can only usually be summoned by merging face up monsters of the same level eg Number 39: Utopia requires two level four monsters to summon.
I have a 60 card deck with a good balance of monsters and spell/trap cards and it works great for me but good vid i liked the strategy tips 👍🏻
Wicki i also run 60 card deck. its a dark deck that focuses on all those badass cards from Phantom darkness( like dark creator) and a few Darklords that fit the playstyle. having a 40 card deck is as important as some people think. it all comes down to how well your deck is constructed
I wouldn't use level 10 as that can be quite irritating to draw into with the type of deck you have. You could throw in a maximum of two level 7 though. I'd have to take a closer look at the deck to give you a better idea though.
As for synchro monsters, Ally of Justice Catastor is always a good one to have as well as Stardust Dragon. In all honesty, it depends how you play but as long as you have a range of different levels then that would do you nicely :)
A good idea to counter monsters in a fusion deck is to use super polymerization to use your opponents monsters as fusion material
Don't know how I haven't replied to this comment but yes!
Super Poly is essential in the side deck as a minimum for a user of a Fusion Deck.
nintenbruce except you know its banned.....
Nice video style. The trolling comments kept me amused. Good job! Very helpful too. Thanks.
Not yet but I am about to start a deck on them!
Keep an eye out and hopefully I'll have a deck up in the next few weeks.
Saying that though I can tell you that synchro wise you should try running Naturia Barkion and Naturia Beast with the other X Sabers ;)
Also Gottam's Emergency Call is a must!
Thanks for the tips! Not "new" to dueling, but I haven't dueled in 10 years, so yeah lol.
+TrendyTepig well then its time to du du du dududududu duel!
I'm sorry to say this buddy but I think someone's misinformed you about how MST works.
Although MST is a spell speed 2 and can be chained to multiple card effects, it does not negate the effects of cards it destroys. It's alot like if I summon Caius The Shadow Monarch and someone chains Bottomless Trap Hole or Book Of Moon to my effect. Although Caius would get destroyed or flipped face down, the effect has not been negated so it still goes through. If a card negates it would say so in the text.
2 Questions:
1. What would be a good deck for using the graveyard to it's fullest advantage? My favourite monster has always been Shadow Ghoul and I want to build a deck that taps into the resources of the graveyard. I don't expect you to list off all 40 cards, but a few key cards would be good to know.
2. What are some good cards that can protect me from traps/ magic? I know Jinzo negates all trap effects while on the field... are they any other cards with a similar effect? I hate my monsters getting destroyed by trap hole, mirror force, rageki, dark hole, fissure, etc.
If you love your graveyard then some fun cards to use are Ryko, Lightswor Hunter and Chaos Necromancer to name a few. Chaos Necromancer is a better version of Shadow Ghoul :)
There are a few options for protection. Some people like using Forbidden Lance which is a quickplay spell card. Starlight Road can protect against multiple destruction cards too. Royal Decree works like Jinzo but in a trap card.
Hope those little things help buddy :)
nintenbruce this helps a lot! Thank you very much!
DizzyFromDreaming No worries buddy :)
Wow, I found this tips and tricks easily understandable. But still, maybe they are a few questions in my mind though. See, indeed 40 cards are good for a deck, 20 monsters, 10 spells, and 10 traps. My first question, in those 20 monsters, how many effect and normal monsters I should put it into? Same goes for the extra deck, since extra deck can only have at least 15 cards, how many XYZ, Synchro, Fusion monsters I should put it into? Also, can you explain more on making a theme for a deck? I got confused a little bit because of that Water Burn Breakdown stuff. Also, maybe you should lower the sound of the background music, I can't really hear clearly what you said but still it's understandable because you show images of those cards and make me get it really quick.
it all really depends on what kind of deck you're building in most cases you don't need any normal monsters unless you have cards to use them effectively such as rescue rabbit. then with fusions, xyz, and synchros it also depends on your deck build. it's like if you're not using any tuners there's not much reason to use synchros unless the creature swap situation happens like in the video but I find that happening to be unlikely, you're opponent mostly won't let you have the opportunity to use their tuner. With fusions you mostly won't use them unless your deck is built around it like a HERO deck or gladiator beasts but Chimeratech Fortress Dragon does have it's uses buts it's more of a side deck card in most cases. Now Xyz are definitely the most accessible and the easiest to summon so there's really no reason not to use them.
and with a theme basically it comes down to "what is your goal in this deck? a big boss monster? swarm the field with smaller monsters? prevent your opponent from making plays by negating their effects? stalling while you burn away their life points? There's so many options with building a deck it really comes down to what do you want to do with that deck?
It sounds like you've got a lot of different monsters which don't really mix well or use each others effects effectively. You might have to cut one or two of them out as well as those dropped monsters support cards to bring it down to 40 and still have an interesting mix.
If you fancy, send me your deck list and I'll take a peak.
I think to truly have a strong deck you need cards that work together well and make each other stronger and more effective. Having a wide variety of trap and spell cards can help a lot because your deck needs to be versatile to handle the different styles of duelling you will come across. But more importantly consistency because if your in a serious jam drawing more monsters wont help. I consider laying out ALL of your cards and thinking witch do I need? witch will work together? and HOW they help you win and how will they help in different situations? I hope this little piece of my opinion helps you.
