  • Hi everyone! I have a special drill diamond painting that I completed and wanted to show you how to mount it (GLUE) to a stretched canvas. It is way more economical than getting a department store to frame it. I hope this helps you. This is a new one since the first video I did about this my sound was not so great on my Ipad. I have since got new video equipment and wanted to make a much better quality one. Links below:

    Great site. I am new to your videos. Your calmness us quite relaxing. I seal my diamond paintings with clear Elmer's school glue and a sponge brush. I lay it flat for about 24 hours, minimum to dry. Been doing it for years, works just fine. Then I wash the sponge with soap and water. Reusable.
    For globs, use the sponge brush to spread the glue.

      You cant go wrong with this process. I think I was the first to suggest this back about 3 or 4 years ago. The first video I did on it the sound wasnt as good cause I used my ipad but now this one will take over for it. I noticed after about 8 months I saw someone telling someone else about seeing it put on a canvas on youtube and I knew they had seen my video lol! I felt so good. I contributed to the world! LOL!

    That’s a beautiful piece. When I frame on a canvas,I figure where the painting is going over it, then I mark my corners with washi tape. Then I spray glue all over the back of the painting and use my washi taped corners to lay it back down. But then again, I’ve never done one bigger than 30x40. And my method may not work on a larger painting. But that cat is gorgeous!

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  Před rokem

      That's a great idea Karen! Won't hurt to try that. Im so fumble fingered that I was afraid I would put it down wrong and cannot shift it to fix it. This gorrilla glue spray says you can for up to 3 to 5 min but I get scared to try. Afraid the diamonds would get stuck to my fingers and Id ruin it lolol!

    I just mounted my first DP onto a pre-stretched canvas. The
    DP height x width matched perfectly with an off-the-shelf canvas. I trimmed my dp canvas right up to the diamonds using high quality scissors. I set the framed canvas on a sturdy surface. I poured an 8 oz bottle of pva glue into a smooth plastic bowl and added enough water to make it easily spreadable but still with plenty of body. Then I poured some onto the canvas and used a drywall repair spatula to evenly cover the canvas with a generous, but not puddling-thick coat. Working quickly, while the glue was still wet and moveable, I carefully laid the dp canvas on top and pulled it into the desired position. I allowed it to rest a few minutes and then Brayered, from the center outwards, the dp canvas to ensure the entire thing made
    complete contact with the glue and the framed canvas surface. After cleaning up any glue that squished out the edges, I Brayered again along the edges. Finally I inspected my edges and did a finger touch up to ensure no
    edges could come up. At the time I really wasn't sure adhesion would be achieved. I left everything flat to dry on its own. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well this worked! I love the look of a hung frameless canvas! It only took about 15 mins of work! And maybe 15 mins prep. I took it from my
    work surface straight to the wall the following day!

    Mim, you did an informative video that shows every step of your progress and you were clear and very understanding. I just love your videos and love your calm spunky personality 😊. I am a multi-artist mostly fiber arts but I draw and diamond paint. Am new to sealing my artwork; I saw a video last year a lady sealed her canvas, before glueing her artwork on the canvas and letting it dry before painting or touching up. I would suggest after it drys to touch up on the painting from the glue residue. This is fun and as you do more later you will pick up tricks or find other methods that will improve your process over time! That cat pic is gorgeous and it shines beautifully am cat person ❤. I am behind you about testing for cancers especially doing yearly checkups it does save your life; I saved my Mom’s life by sending her to the doctor and paying for checkup, they caught her Ovarian cancer early she survived and beat it. It’s very important to stay on top of your health there is absolutely no catch up when it comes to your heath. God Bless you and you have a blessed weekend until your next video ❤🤟🏽🌺🌸

  • @sylviamayo379
    @sylviamayo379 Před rokem +2

    You need to place painters or washi tape around the painting after it is placed in the center before you spray and that way you won't have to paint, just pull the tape off and it will look AWESOME. Also seal the painting before you do anything else after it dries you can do the rest.

    Great idea, thanks for showing us. Just a small suggestion, perhaps using a much smaller ruler to help measure the edges will give you a much more accurate measurement for centring your picture. Also you could just paint the edges of the canvas with black acrylic paint and then wrap and staple the edges to the back of a much smaller stretch canvas. For some, that just might be too fiddly, then the quick and easy method you showed. Great job 👏👏👏👏👏💎

      Your so welcome Marcie! I sealed the Diamond Painting to the edge of the diamond painting and then touched up the canvas where I smeared the glue. You can use chalk paint however, I am not certain how that will do with the spray glue under the diamond painting. I would paint the canvas edge after you have glued it. I have noticed chalk paint is a bit dry and might hinder the glue.

I could kick myself for not getting all of them that were special drill. Some are 30x40 small with regular diamonds. SIGH. I will keep looking for them to get them back ORRR I might even email the company that I bought mine from on Aliexpress to see if they could re offer those others again.

    I have used your tips in this video to seal my granddaughters unicorn painting, a 30x40cm. What are your thoughts on a larger painting, as i have a 35"x25" INCH orca whale painting from DAC that im working on...do you think a painting that size could work on a stretched canvas? I bought a 30"x40" inch stretched canvas and i dont know if gluing it onto a canvas would hold up, thinking the drills on a piece this large might be too heavy and pull away from stretched canvas(?) Have you done a framing like this on one similar in size?

    • @MimsHowse
      @MimsHowse  Před 11 měsíci

      It should be fine if your heavy with the glue like I am. LOL! The lady on the wall behind me is a 60x50 I do believe. I havent sealed that one as yet because I did that before they had sealer specific for the Diamond Paintings and did not want the sparkle to go away. I just didnt trust mod podge due to eventual yellowing.

    • @MimsHowse

      I don't because if it makes it stiff, it could crack the sealer when I fold it up to spray the glue on the canvas under it.

    I have used the sealer on some of my pictures. I start with a light coat first. When it’s almost dry you can see where you missed. Then do a heavier coat. It does dry with a gloss shine. Especially if you are going to frame it. That is a beautiful cat picture.
