Thor is mentally strong. He just laughs while facing problems. We can see his and Rocket conversation in IW. He is still a serious character. He hides his pain with a smile. Marvel just showed us in a different way.
Exactly, and this led to his demise in the endgame where he lost all his hopes and went in to depression. Every single thing makes sense about this character and that's why it's so great. I simply didn't see any flaw in his character. Even when he is funny, you can see him dying by the loss of his people inside.

Honestly, addressing these comedy issue won't make a change at least till phase 4 because everything is planned and many projects are completed.

Although their will be characters like moonight with dark background but as a whole phase 4 won't leave their comeical thing.
