Snowy day in Woking. Merchant navy Class, No 35028 with the British Pullman train. The "Venice Simpleton Orient Express" is the grand Pullman train of Europe
Ah what a sight :) I was stuck on the all-stopper you see leaving halfway through - had been hoping to get a few shots off at Byfleet & New Haw, but she was half an hour early!
A wonderful shot of Clan Line powering through the snow. I had hoped to film the return train. I got to my location but discovered that No: 28 had been re-routed. Barry
That center platform the train departs from must be new. It wasn't there when I was commuting from Woking in the 1990's. When I left, they had only recently renumbered the platforms because of the old platform 1 that was removed to make way for a bus lane. I guess they had to renumber them again for the new platform 3.
The last coach is the generator coach for heating. The “ugly great blob” took the empty stock into the starting station and would possibly provide duties at the destination. Also on arrival back at the original start point it will take the train back to Stewart’s Lane. It is there for operational reasons.
Last time I saw this was as a schoolboy spotter in about 1961. Great nostalgia.
I used to 'spot' there in my childhood, from the road, whenever we shopped in Woking. Ironically 35028 was one of the few Merchant Navies I missed

hot steam train in super cool weather.......excellent capture.....regards from India.
When I worked on the p way on Woking district there was a steady stream of steam locomotives to get out of the way from all times of day and night . 👍
That's super cool.
Lovely sight! Thanks for sharing!

It is spelt Centre..not center.
"centre"
The Belmond British Pullman and the Venice Simpleton Orient Express, are two different trains
Nice video. It was a fantastic day to film steam.
why a stinky diesel in the rear?
it’s for banking, and heating the coaches
Thanks but is that the cameraman sniffing!? Whatever it is it's darn irritating
Great shot - worth being out in the cold weather for......…☁☁☁☁☁⁘⁙⁙……Hᴜɢʜ….Lɪᴋᴇᴅ…..ツ
Nice. Pity about the ugly great blob on the back. I presume they no longer have steam heat - hence tge generator car?

Got a diesel pushing it !!!
That would've been providing heating.
They could have at least had a vintage diesel providing heating and electric instead of a modern 66. It kind of spoils the vintageness of the train
@@paulconner9354 that's a 67........
