I love how Kaiti is normalising outfit repeats because if I buy a piece I like, you best bet I’m gonna wear it to get my money’s worth out of it
SO TRUE! More of this please!!
I think her saying about the statement piece is SO true- like I have this one color block shirt that is bold and people would remember, but I probably can only wear it like once a month (to work) but then maybe next week hanging out with friends who haven't seen that one before. Repeating outfits is okay, I need to remind myself
literally like i find myself just gravitating back to my comfort outfits both because i like them and because i can’t remember how much time has passed since i last wore it
i mean rewearing clothes and outfits is what literally every normal person does?😂
@@vickyengler21 ikr. It's not a new concept. I was shocked to find out some people do otherwise.
Never forget guys: always be aware of the weather!
No matter how cute your outfit is you'll most definitely feel like shit if you're super sweaty or freezing your nuts off, dress accordingly so you're comfy
Ok but like how does one layer to not sweat in 50 degrees celsius weather bc either I'm just too prone to being hot (aha not that kind) or yall keeping secrets
@@Chirp-chirp that's the trick. Unless you have botox treatment we ALL sweat.
The thing is that most of the time we see people's outfit when they're all nice and clean (ex: photos, videos before leaving or before an event starts, etc,).
You can use certain fabrics so you feel less hot when layering but sweat is inevitable.
I needed to hear this. I live in a place where it's 20° C even in the middle of winter, and I love turtlenecks, heavy cardigans and jackets and basically anything that keeps you warm. But I can't wear it because it is so freaking hot.
@@kbye452 same. i started buying stuff in thin breathable fabrics. i have this one button-up shirt that i adore and it's super thin bc it was super cheap, but it's breathable and a light color that reflects sunlight so i actually feel cooler when i wear it
cute is more important than cold.
I'm definitely an older lady, and only recently learned two great tips: 1) organize your closet by color (looks great and easier to find things), and 2) don't buy anything unless it goes with THREE other pieces (that's a tough one, true). But it helps reduce all those crazy colors and pieces that don't go with anything.
Hi! A little late to the party, but this is also an amazing tip for travel clothes. Always take pieces that match and go well with atleast 3 others that you're packing. That way you actually get more options and travel lighter.
really late to the party, but i am 12 and I love seeing older ladies in the comment sections for some reason! 😂♥️
Absolutely true and I thrift 90% of my clothes!
that’s a great way to do it
this is a great thing to keep in mind when packing for university so you don’t loose that precious wardrobe space
My personal "pro tip" is all my bottoms are neutrals. That way even if I decide to get a top that isn't in my color palette I can still wear it with all my pants. I am a lover of color so most of my dresses & tops are colorful, but my bottoms & half my "outerwear" is neutral which makes mixing and matching a breeze. I do the same with shoes: get my neutrals first, then expand our into fun designs & colors.
I love every piece in my closet & it makes shopping for new items simple (especially when mom tried to convince me to get something that I would never wear lol)
this could definitely work the other way round as well if people don't want all neutral trousers. Having colourful trousers and neutral tops would also make getting ready super easy!
Ah that's such a good idea!!
i literally ALWAYS say I have nothing to wear with a closet FULL of random items. The thing is, nothing really goes together cos I never think about how clothes pair together
well.... i'm so glad you're watching this video then, Sam.... 😉
Same until now
I feel like I do have stuff to wear but. Like I have items that go together. I feel like I'm good at it but sometime when I put them on I just don't love how my body looks in it. Can anyone else relate like honestly think the outfit is cute but maybe it's a self confidence issue. I guess I just have to get comfortable in my own skin and maybe tailoring could also help sometimes. Woah way for me to have a mini problem solving/ therapy session in a comment thread. Okay step away from the phone 😂
This brings me to a video idea: how about us sending her through mail or smth pictures from specific/normal items and she helps us out by telling us how to wear it?
@@shanzoni1200 hahaha I totally get what you mean!!! I honestly thinks it comes down to confidence!! I'm sure you rock the outfit you put together, you just gotta believe in it and yourself!!!
ignoring the fashion trends in your area is a BIG one! i remember my first few weeks of college i wore athleisure to class every day bc 99% of people did and i felt awkward wearing "normal clothes" (not even dressing up lol literally just jeans and a crop top), but eventually i realized 1. i felt like an ugly slob, and 2. no one was gonna arrest me for wearing something other than nike shorts
I know that feeling especially in my college department :'(
I can totally relate
You're doing amazing, I'm glad I didn't jump on the sweatpants and uggs trend when I was in college. 11 years later I can still wear the snow boots I wore then
Haha I had the reverse issue. Most women in my college had a super preppy serious look, with button ups and blazers :D Sometimes I just wanted to wear jeans and hoodies or even just sweats. I personally always felt hot af and comfy in sports wear.
Everyone else is underdressed keep it up bestie
We stan outfit repeating! One tip that has helped me a lot is "only buy a piece if you know you will wear it at least 30 times". It makes shopping consciously a lot easier and has made me conscious of clothing that I would not wear as much as others.
needed this honestly because i think it’s cute in the moment but i don’t consider if i’ll wear it that often
A better tip is to only buy things that go with three other items, because I have tried what you said and it's very easy to lie to yourself and say "yeah I'll wear it seventy times for sure"
"sitting" on a clothing item is hard when your wardrobe is 99% thrifted lol
but seriously, this video helped me a lot. i have so many random shirts, blouses, jackets, etc in my closet that i like but never wear and now im finally starting to realize why. COLOR SCHEME. what a thought haha explains why i only wore that bright yellow shirt once and can't pair it with anything else!
When you thrift you can walk around with it in the store till you get dont get that dopamine rush looking at it. In addition, try EVERYTHING on, look for holes/stains, look for wrinkles
YESS you can't leave it in the thrift store you have to make up your mind in the changing room
@@johnnyjohnnyhottiethottie8345 My tip: Wear your most versatile clothes when you go thrifting. your favourite pants that go with anything, a neutral top, some vest/jacket/blouse/shirt on top if you do layers, and a belt. This will help you to style the things you want to buy in quick, different ways without having to wait until you get home.
Then go to the changing room, try them, take pics, and then roam a bit more around the place. Give yourself time to think about it. Is not the same as giving it a month and you may still buy some things that later will feel a bit "meh" but it will help to considerably reduce those "omg this is terrible why I wasted money on this" cases.
So fashion is basically a character design but in real life… which means we need to follow those fundamentals of character design to create our wardrobe.
Wow, major break through on my side, but this is the way I understand it.

i love how you educate us on rewearing the clothes we already have, finding what we really like, and reducing consumption!! so important and practical, especially in an era of the internet where influencers do $500 hauls of fast fashion on a regular basis
also i love your style; it's immaculate
Yes, it's really nice that she does what literally every other normal person does : wash their clothes and re-use them. It's the simplest thing to do, which might be why influencers shy away from it. They are scared they will look "normal", "boring", "uncreative". It's a war out there and peeps want to stand out. It's just unfortunate that the price of standing out in this field is just normalizing huge hauls of clothes and massive wardrobes. It's just the easy thing to do for them, buying and accepting more clothes. It's even less creative than outfit repeating to me. Outfit repeating shows that the outfit works in many different occasions and stand the test of time. Let's glorify that instead!
@@sunongral5605 totally agree!!

This might be a perk to having a color scheme: you’ll have an easier time choosing nail designs, because you can go with the color that accentuates your outfits.
i would love to see a “how to layer” guide or even a list of ur fave stores to shop at bc idk where to look or how to combine pieces… fr my go to is tshirt+ pants LMAO
yes! because she talking about linking pieces and I am here like... I have no idea how to layer! it's hot af where i live
Yes! And to add on, I would love to see how to buy the correct size of clothing for when to layer and get the best looking silhouette out of the pieces
I'm no layering pro, but on my quest towards fashion AND comfort, I have found scarves to be very helpful! They are more chic than a hoodie, warm, go with everything when theyre neutral, and dont mess with ur shilouette
Yes please! Anytime I "layer" I just look fatter...
yes omg. i cant layer anything without it looking bad!!
I would love to see a “how to dress in hot weather without looking like you’re an amateur at the gym” kind of video!

Personally, I think it's about wearing clothes that wont show it if you sweat. Darker colours, thicker/absorbent/hydrophobic fabrics, breathable/loose silhouettes. I live somewhere very hot and humid, sweat is inevitable, so learning which fabrics won't wind up looking soaking wet after five minutes was a lifesaver.
Wear cotton/cotton mix and not plastic,
you will not sweat as much since the heat dispells better .
crop tops!
I am slowly finding my style again. It’s refreshing. I’m realizing my closet just has a bunch of stuff that is not my style. As I slowly get rid of the colors that clash with me or my style, I’m finding I don’t even need to buy new clothes
Tip from 1990s Glamour magazine: Create a "scarecrow" of your outfit laid on your bed. Top, bottom, socks, shoes, jewelry. Makes it much easier to critique your look while not having to try it all on.
I've done that or I do it in my head and it's way different when I actually wear it
u’re a literal inspiration
Love you, Annie!!! 🥺❤️😭

another perk of having a color scheme is if you like to thrift shop (which is a literal hobby for me) it's much easier to weed out things you'd never wear
ooooooo good one!!!!
and they’re often organized by color so i can just immediately head over to the red, blue, and b,ack sections instead of wasting time looking at green clothes
um, can we take a second to appreciate how ✨BEAUTIFULY✨ crafted this intro was. idk maybe that's just me.
You are so right about the color scheme. A few years ago I switched my buying habits to all skirts / pants being neutral colors and all tops being either green, blue or purple and now no matter how tired I am, I can grab whatever from the closet and it auto matches. Plus it looks great hanging there!

Girl. I wasn't even remotely into fashion before and discovered you through another video. Your personality is just *chef's kiss*. I'm here to stay.
So I did this and cleaned out my closet accordingly (got rid of stuff that doesn’t fit my color palette/style/shape plan) and went shopping, my most hated activity and…. It was fun? I didn’t feel overwhelmed because I didn’t have to consider trying on things that weren’t in my style or color, even if they might look good on me. Thank you so much for helping me revamp my wardrobe without really buying that much! Getting rid of the excess in there was incredibly helpful and now I feel like I have much more to wear, even though I have fewer clothes. Seriously can’t tell you how nice it is to feel put together without trying.
so your ""I look bad in everything I wear." dude, no. you're just not dressing for YOUR body type." video was suggested in my youtube home, watched it, liked it and proceeded to this video and i really had to subscribe! now i'm questioning all of my clothes which were all impulsively bought! you rock girl and it's time for me to binge your videossss

Something I would like to add is hairstyles. If you wear the exact same clothes but with a high ponytail instead of a bun or lose hair, it becomes a whole different style. So if you have long hair, like Kaiti has, I would use that as well since it is quite easy.
Yess, I’ve noticed this! Hairstyles can make such a huge difference with an outfit too
the colour scheme thing sounds difficult but you're so right. when you have to figure out how to layer/match something that doesn't go with anything in the wardrobe, its so much more stress than it needs to be

Omg! This is so smart! Thank you so much for the tip!
@kk depending on the material, you can bleach it
Mmm I love this
or, if you have stuff to pair with it already, just keep those as full matching outfits, but don't buy anymore stuff outside your color scheme. it might be useful for color-coded events.
you could also donate if you really don't want to keep the clothes, rather than throwing them out.

wait i actually needed this so bad. tomorrow's the first day of school and my current closet does not provide me with sufficient battle armor lol
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FIRST DAY!!! (Lol, next week's video is back to school outfits, so I gotchu next week too HEHE)
This is really helpful! I'm on the fence about redoing most of my wardrobe into a vintage (50s and the like) style because it is really flattering to my figure, but I'm not completely sold. I mostly want pieces that will last (not fast fashion that falls apart in a year), and that fit my body type (my waist is a whole size smaller than my hips and chest). This is really helpful, I will use your tips, Kaiti, thank you!
Hey! I literally recently transitioned into 50s fashion so I totally understand where you're at right now. Rachel Maksy has a great video on starting small with vintage. But I also just found a skirt and shirt combo I liked in 50s style in a thrift shop and wore that in my usual rotation. From there I found a simple circle skirt pattern and started to sew skirts myself (I totally get that's not easy to do but look into it). Now I wear retro daily and I feel SO good, and I get a lot of compliments. I hope this was helpful, I really want to encourage more people to take the plunge into retro style 💕
if you love 50s do it. I used to follow trends and stuff and it didnt even look good on me, it didnt make me happy, it didnt look good. I started liking 2000s fashion and it became my style and I know it will be my style for life. It makes me happy and I love it

#3 tied into “matching how you’re feeling inside”. GURL. How am I supposed to do that when I have 10 different aesthetics from cottage core to goth and I feel at home in each one on different days? Honestly tho - how?...
I feel your pain 😓
that’s literally my problem, I’m e-girl, goblincore, and dark academia all at once???
let go of pretty much the structure of the trends or aesthetics or whatever you’re following, because I feel that most (maybe not all, but most) have a style they can stick to if they find it or prefer a style. maybe try finding what you love the most, and the clothes you love the most. blend the styles maybe? I’m no expert, so take this with a grain of salt!
@@dhakahealth5935
I actually kinda considered blending the styles but wasn’t sure if it would look tacky or not. But might as well try :D
I would look for simple pieces that can go with different kind of outfits. For example a simple black dress can be super versatile and fit for all aesthetics. Just depend on the accessories, shoes and layers. Find those basic clothes and pare them with statement pieces.
Omg thank you so much for this video! This is really really relatable for me bcs i always feels unsatisfied with the clothes i bought and just feel unhappy with the clothes i wear. I will definitely use your tips for my closet!!
My mother would always point out that I have the most clothes among us. I was struggling what to wear whenever we go out. This is so helpful. Thank you.
i use to be such a terrible shopper especially in my first years of college when i was stuck in the “i can only wear this outfit once” cycle & once you break out of that ITS SO FREEING like hell yes i’m gonna wear this dress fifty times this year JUST BC I CAN
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYINGGGGG. So glad you had that breakthrough.
Everytime I go in a store I ask myself “What in my closet will I wear this with?”
If I can’t think of anything I don’t buy it
I heard this tip previously and it CHANGED MY LIFE. I am so sick of buying something cute that just lives in my closet and takes up space because there’s nothing I want to wear with it 😭 the whole capsule closet thing didn’t work for me, but this seems foolproof!
I’ve noticed I do a lot of these things, but my issues are trend following and buying too many statement pieces, so I’m going to work towards keeping up with my own personal style😌 ty
This one video has helped me so much cause over the summer I've been wearing the same 2 to 3 same outfits. Can't tell you how hard school was for me with not being able to pair anything that made sense, stressing out every morning💀
A lot of these tips also apply to having a more sustainable wardrobe (color scheme, not following trends, waiting), and I think that's super important bc an environmentally friendly wardrobe is a cute wardrobe!!!

THANK YOU! This is the best set of tips! (And that one about sitting on something before you buy does totally work!) I first watched your "nothing looks good on me" vid and after watching this, I'm hooked!
Love this, thanks Katie.
I’d love a timeless basics vid! I’m a big statement piece person, so getting some basics to make my wardrobe feel more together and considered is a must.
The basics I tend to buy are more fashion focused and don’t tend to still look cute in a few seasons time.
Thanks & love the channel x
I feel like sticking to a category of colors is more helpful then just picking certain colors. Like warm or cool toned and natural vs. artificial looking colors. I started sticking to warm toned earthy/natural colors and it really helped me :)
Almost all my clothes are black. But let me tell you how many shades of black there are oh my some things don't match everything. (Mainly a texture thing) but now I do shop full outfits keeping my current inventory in mind, it helps a lot. I also made little print outs of all my pieces so I can mix match them "on paper" and see how they work. My closet looks like a mood board and it makes me happy. But closet organizing clothes of all one color can be hard
😅 Okay I'm three weeks late but hopefully you see this still: there are digital closet apps you can use so you can plan out "on paper" and have it easily accessible. like Whering (the app I use) also has a dress me feature that randomises outfits for you. It's really helped me realise that I have sooo many outfits available and have made me really enjoy wearing items again and again (it's also saved me so much time getting ready cause I no longer spend ages mixing and matching right before I head out).
Like Cher from Clueless with her Polaroids of outfits?
It's a good idea and so is the app. I'm definitely going to look at that.
@@RebeccaHails Yes, exactly like that! 😂 Best of luck
Thank you so much for this video!!!
I know you posted this a while back, but FOR REAL- I have been on the struggle bus all my life trying to find clothing and colors that make me feel gorgeous. I am a tall girl with a curvy body, but the trend of my state/town has always been crop tops, shortest shorts, and oversized zipped jackets... I've never felt comfortable or flattered in any of these, as my stomach is not naturally flat or small (same with my hips, butt, and thighs). It has always been so hard to find clothing that makes me feel beautiful/confident (and even fits to my body type) in my town...
BUT THIS VIDEO has been a saving grace. I've found my couple colors that I've been complimented on the most or that make me feel the most fierce, and I genuinely feel SO much better/less anxious about shopping.
Thank you for your guidance and work you've put into this video. You have gained a new subscriber. :)
This video is so helpful? Most videos tell you what to wear, but don’t game into consideration others people’s interests, and body type so they end up being useless. Love how this educates so you can actually properly style yourself!!
I am not a stylish person. I struggle to put things together, I often buy things that I like and have nothing to match them with, I do buy a lot of one color but I don't always buy things that look good *on me.* Thank you for making these very accessible tips. I feel like *even I* can use these tips to get a teensy bit better at choosing my clothes. Haha.
This is one of the times I've actually heard someone say to stick to a certain color palette and thats pretty neat since it makes sense individually

Great video! Another personal tip I thought of while watching: I've seen so many of my friends throw away pieces of clothing they've loved just because they've developed holes, ripped, or gotten stained, but clothing you really love is worth repairing! Plus, repairs and fun patches add uniqueness :)
THIS!! I've felt awful in the past for getting rid of jeans with rips in unfortunate areas, and often I just held onto them for YEARS without getting rid of them, but I didn't think I could fix them and I'm not crafty enough to use them for scraps--but I recently discovered visible mending, and now I'm on a kick of learning how to fix all the holes in my socks, jeans, jean-jacket, etc XD
Its so satisfying when you finally feel yourself becoming who you truly are because of confidence. I alt and only recently have i felt confident enough to wear stuff i want to wear
Watching this made me realize why I’ve been loving my wardrobe in the last year. It’s because I’ve built a color scheme without even realizing and now I find it so easy to make outfits
The editing is ON POINT as usual!
this means the world to me! ty!
Dearly love this! I'm getting ready to redo my entire wardrobe & this is ridiculously helpful

This became a fashion AND financial advice video that I will DEFFS come back to! LOVE YOU KAITI 🤍
Yay! I'm so glad you found it helpful. LOVE U 2.
I love how she’s quirky without being annoying. Love this vid!!
love how you managed to discuss different silhouettes without trash talking or dictating what people should wear. you discussed the highs and lows, and how what focuses on what.
I actually don't buy my own clothes.... My mom just goes to the store and picks up whatever she thinks will fit me and I appreciate it a lot. I try my best to mix and match clothing for it look aesthetically pleasing
That dance party tip is SO REAL. Whenever I get new clothes I turn up the music and try them on with my entire wardrobe !
Your videos have so much QUALITY I just love how you can tell how much effort and work was put on them ❤
I really like how you put a lot of thought in how you shop as well as how you explain your process to others, keep up the great work!
Thank you so much, Michelle!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I've recently been getting into fashion a lot and I'm not the best at styling plus being cheap and not having a lot of money isn't helping. but I swear to fricking god you are helping so much. this is making my life 10 times easier
the way I'm writing down these notes from this video down more than I do for my school lectures

"The dress code of this state doesn't align with my body and my preferences" - the number of times I've had that exact same thought about this cursed state. There's also the near psychotic divide between the heat outside and frigid AC inside.
I AGREE WITH ALL OF THIS EVEN THE PARTY IDEA. This video helped me realize that I knew what to do but was ignoring it. I love how practical your tips are!
I love this so much! On top of l fashion dilemmas, I think this will actually really help me minimize my closet (it’s overflowing) while maximizing my wardrobe! I have too many clothes I don’t wear, yo
Honestly knowing that other people put on their JAM MUSIC and have a little hype party when putting together outfits... Ever since I started doing that a month or so ago, it honestly made the whole process so much better. Confidence booster for SURE ✨✌️
kaiti calling me crusty and dusty is exactly what i needed to get my wardrobe in order 😂
I finally found the one styling artist/CZcamsr that shares the same tone and has an amazing authentic and creative vibe!!!!!! Super inspiring!
the waitlist is such a good tip. saved me from buying so many dumb sht
I really appreciate not just telling us to consume more until we’re happy because I think these tips can allow us to have a closet that lasts and is still unique with every fit
Me, an eldritch being who wears athletic shorts, sweatpants, and spaghetti strap pajama tops exclusively: ah yes, I shall use these tips to return to fashion
Ah I needed this I love it so much, your such a treasure for those who are just coming into there own journey in fashion. This is very helpful advice.
After bestdressed kinda ditched CZcams I’ve been struggling to find a content creator whose style I liked and whose video formats just felt friendly/familiar. Finding your channel is just ✨✨✨✨
"the utility i'm getting" "the return that im getting on that investment" from one econ student to another xDD
I feel like I've started to finally get the hang of it. I've been buying more dark colours ( that's also my personal preference so it works out great) and more basic, easy to style items. Even my brother asks me why am I so dressed up even though I'm not trying as hard anymore
this is the first time ive ever seen one of your vids and honestly 2mins in i had to subscribe. you radiate sm positive energy and make me feel hyped and confident. ahhh i love ittt
You’re literallyyyyy speaking to my soul omg

5:30 “the dress code of this state” lol imagine being allowed to show ur shoulders at school 😂
Recently I've been playing music in the morning before school. I really lifts up my mood and makes me feel way more happy. And i feel better in the clothes i picked out.
this literally came at the perfect time for me. i just donated a bunch of my clothes and i've been wanting to redo my closet over the last year since i started watching Kaiti's videos :D
