So at 4:30 mechanic, what should you do? Just stand there?
No. The tell for this move is Saydon starts spinning like he does in G1 card tornado. As soon as you see him spinning cast your shields, damage reductions if you have them and/or pots/heals. This move is especially on supports' shoulders to execute well.
Basically this is a raid wipe mechanic with some leeway on negating it. If 5 people have turned to clowns on non-mario counts it's a wipe no matter how much shields or damage reductions you have. 4 is usually enough to wipe non-HA characters even when shielded.
Good parties will never have to worry about this mech though, since this move punishes poor gauge management only.

4:05 a very poor explanation of HP reversal.
While it is true that if your party is on the low end of dps, you will see this mechanic more often. I believe it has an internal cooldown in boss' moveset and not tied to any HP or a complimentary mechanic.
The tell is Saydon lifts his club and shakes it like G1 matching suits move/ mini roulette. After seeing it immediately pay attention to your and your party members' feet. Some party members may NOT have the curse on them, it targets 2-4 players. DPS will try to get their health down(mostly via the outer flame circle) but supports should save their shields until the very end and heals after the mechanic completely finishes. The next mario player can use this opportunity to greed out more dps by getting hit by Saydon's attacks to build meter AND lower his health.
This mechanic is also the reason atropine potion is superior to time-stop in this raid. Not only will it allow you to pass the soft DPS checks like this mech but it will help you negate it altogether when it does happen. TS's only use in G3 is to bypass the hooks in some niche situations and avoiding the fart+hammers combo in bingo phase when you are further into the phase with not much room to move.
