On July 16, 1988, Brody was in the locker room before his scheduled match with Dan Spivey in Bayamón (a city near San Juan, Puerto Rico), when José Huertas González, a fellow wrestler and booker, asked him to step into the shower area to discuss business. Brody entered the shower stall and a few minutes later a scuffle ensued, followed by two screams, loud enough for the entire locker room to hear. Tony Atlas ran to the shower and saw Brody bent over and holding his stomach. Atlas then looked up at González and saw him holding a knife. Due to the heavy traffic outdoors and large crowd in the stadium it took paramedics close to an hour to reach Brody. When the paramedics arrived, Atlas helped carry Brody downstairs to the waiting ambulance as, due to Brody's enormous stature, paramedics were unable to lift him. He later died from his stab wounds. - Hudba

Do you think it’s possible that someone told Jose or some people involved with Jose conspired to kill Brody? Do you think it was about money, politics backstage or something deeper?
yes... there was a conspiracy... to liquidate him, he remembers the purchase and he wanted his money back and when there was a rumor that there were changes to fire José Huerta... well, the office for me to understand they sent him to liquidate him... because the owners of the company had a habit of playing in casinos and they spent the broody part and did that to get out of it
Who are you.. Jim cornett'e..if it's you I like your program here on CZcams
If one day you come up with the same issue as Broody... I'm willing to talk about WWC and the problem I had with the invader that was going to have the same situation as Broody's... and many anecdote that all of you don't know
Jose Gonzalez forgot about one crucial tiny detail just because he killed Brody it doesn't mean that he killed Brody's legacy but by killing Brody he killed his legacy as a wrestler so by killing Brody he killed his legacy as a wrestler and now his new legacy is the man who killed Bruiser Brody and the fact he's a old man on the verge of death he can finally rot in hell for his crimes on July 16th 1988
WWE needs to take Carlos out of the HOF . If Chris Benoit can't be in the HOF than Carlos Colon shouldn't be

This story needs to be told on Dateline.
30 Years later it's still depressing.
True
That is a great idea.
StrongStyleNinja. I feel that tragic story should be told in a movie and the money should go to bruisor Brody's family.
He was my favourite wrestler, im puertorrican and rumora trough the years were a lot but now the truth is emerging i would like to hear chickys star he must know something too.
I will always be amazed that none of the guys that took part in the murder served no time whatsoever and to this day, are just going about their business like the whole thing never took place.
I have never, ever heard Cornette be as quite and say less words in an interview than this one. Seems so weird to see Cornette be so respectful and humble in an interview.
you are right; Cornette gets that Brody was a huge deal at the time. Cornette said in another interview that there were 3 main people that could do as they pleased in wrestling at the time and that was Andre, Bruiser and Ric Flair. Brody made millions for promoters especially in japan. Many feel he was one of the greatest of all time and Steve Austin said every big man should watch his matches to learn how to be a heel.
It's a dark, un-comforting topic for any to talk about (and listen to); the reactions on Cornette's face say it all...Cornette is a student/historian of wrestling and as such does a great job as the interviewer here by NOT interrupting Savio and letting him spill it all out...
Cornette may be a very heated and opinionated person but I say he has enough respect for the dead and hell if he likes someone he'll speak the world of them
he's a quieter
Quiet you dumb fuck
So sad to think that Brody was bleeding out, clinging onto a picture of his son 💔😥

Yea...that's terrible. The guy that stabbed Brody didn't even get convicted.
Countless other people didnt even have that. Gotta be terrifying knowing you're leaving this world in an entirely different country with no family around and lying on the floor within reach of the guy that stabbed you. RIP Brody for sure!
Why…? Where did you know him from..?

Don't act like willing slicing you face on coke is the same as replacing a bump with outright booting someone.
Brody telling Atlas to tell his family that he loved them...that’s heavy.
that's so sad... it's easy to forget that the persona they portray is just that and that they are regular people with all the same hopes and dreams. it's so sad his kids were robbed of their father.
Brodys character was that of a outta control wild man....but according to ric flair he was a family man that didn't drink or smoke...always stayed in fabulous condition...and was very smart and knew how to make $$$$...he didn't put up with no b/s from promoters

I gained lots of respect for Atlas after hearing about this. He did what was right, I wish him all the best. Glad he didn't end up going back to the hotel and getting killed by those motherfuckers Colon and Gonzalez as well, thanks to Savio for giving him the heads up
Noah Koch that dark side of the ring episode was crazy
You should hear the Vice Dark Side of the Ring Brodie story and how after he got stabbed, Crooked Carlos Colon tried to come close to "see how he's doing" and Tony Atlas told him "don't come closer or I'll knock your MF head right off yo shoulders". Brodie apparently told him prior to this "Don't let them hurt me no more". So sad
Savio Vega very well may have saved Tony's life.... he was the one that alerted to Tony that "they" were looking for him and were pissed about him talking (aka speaking the truth about what really happened). I will always respect Tony for how he behaved during this tragic incident.... the man is a true friend and it's obvious he is telling the truth. Carlos Colon should never have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, if you watch his interview about this topic it's so blatant that he is lying.
Bruiser Brody deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame!
DOMINICAN KIDD not while Carlos is in.
Next time WrestleMania is in Texas Bruiser Brody should be in.
does it really matter there is no hall of fame its just a money thing for wwe.
mel bias yeah really there’s no building for the WWE hall of fame like the . Rock, country and sports halls of fame. Those guys deserve a place where there’s pictures or ring used items like belts, robes, boots, and they should all have bronze statues like warrior, flair, and Andre the giant a place you can take your pictures with life sized statues of them . It’s probably in Vince’s or HHH’s basement FFS LOl
Brody only had a couple matches in WWWE (under Vince Sr). He was never there for any extended period of time. He’s probably a Hall Of Famer, but doesn’t fit in WWE’s.

according to tony atlas, brody went to him and asked him if he could draw him a picture of his son (atlas was a talented artist). brody was about to hand atlas the picture of his son when invader asked brody if he could join him in the showers. atlas said he heard brody cry out twice before atlas and vega went to see what happened. dutch mantell also says the same thing. its clear management covered it up, maybe even had the whole thing set up before everyone got to the stadium that day, seeing as how slowly help arrived (almost an hour passed before an ambulance got to brody). brody got stabbed twice. doctors were able to close one of the punctures but the second injury got his liver. brody later dies in the hospital still holding on to the picture of his son. most tragic wrestling story. this tragedy and brody’s life should be made into a full feature film. rip brody
So sad. Tony Atlas tells pretty much the exact same thing about the death
Tony telling the truth about what really happened is the reason he was blackballed from the wrestling industry and was homeless for a couple years! The plan was to blame it on a fan. Dutch knew exactly what was going to happen to Brody that's why he left and went to the dug out right before it happened! This was a Hit that was put on Brodys head! Vince killer McMahon Carlos Calon and Envader were all in on it!! This was a well planned killing. Brody was still alive at that hospital he was finished off there! Vince and the freemason wanted Brody dead
Sad what happened to Bruiser Brody, just hearing what Savio Vega said shook me up. And all respect to Jim Cornette who gave Savio the chance to tell his story without too many interruptions.
Mick Foley, when he was starting out as a wrestler, had to go to Puerto Rico for a tour (it was in his first book, Have a Nice Day), and said that he was disgusted having to shake Gonzalez's hand, given that Gonzalez had murdered Bruiser Brody, who Mick Foley had been a huge fan of...
Oh, and Jose Gonzalez, had he ever gone to Japan, would have been murdered by the Yazuka, because Bruiser was very well-liked in Japan...
May the Spirits of The Yazuka and Bruiser Brody reign down the LIving Hell on Jose' Gonzalez when Judgement Day comes.

I remember reading the wrestling mags as a kid. According to them, “Brusier Brody was killed in Puerto Rico by a fan who stabbed him before a match.” It’s so weird listening to the players who were there tell the story now.
It sucks that justice wasn’t served to Gonzales. Sure Brody was a little difficult to work with, but that is not an excuse for murder, and total bullshit for claiming self defense. I watched a shoot interview with Tony Atlas, he said the saddest thing he said was that his son grew up without a father
and how Brody loved his son.
Bruiser Brody and Savio Vega for WWE Hall of Fame.
RIP
I think Gonzalez was scared of Brody. I can understand that. Most folks would be. But to murder someone because you're afraid of them is not the way to go.
bruiser brody is already in wwe hall of fame
All those years watching Savio Vega in the WWF in the '90s, I had no idea he had such an interesting career leading up to that
He was known as TNT in Puerto Rico and is a legend there look him up in wwc back in the day all his matches were great...
When Carlos Colon messed up was by not passing the torch to him in 1990. He was super over and was mossed when he left in 1992 or 93
@@RobVanDelay_WholeFnContest Carlos Colon is a typical nepotist corrupt booker, he would not pass the torch to anyone other than his own children. He got lucky that Carly Colon was better than he ever was at wrestling. TNT (or Ray Gonzalez) should've been the leads of the company at their prime.
the closest thing to a "reason" why this happened is, colon owed brody a lot of money, when it got to be too much brody called his marker to colon, colon couldn't pay it, so brody made a play for part of the office and the booker job. brody loved puerto rico, he did great business there. brody taking part of the business cuts into other people's portion.
not saying this IS what happened, but makes the most sense.
That's pretty much what the major conspiracy theory is about this situation. Brody had become a problem for Colon where it hurt him the most, his pocket, at the same time Brody's brewing up an issue with Invader - who he not only beat up in the WWWF during the match Savio points out, but according to Dutch and other sources Brody had continued to pretty much punk Gonzalez out in front of the boys on multiple occasions. Jovica, another one close to the money, sees Gonzalez having an issue with Brody and starts egging him on to "do something about it." Gonzalez does something about it and afterwards Colon takes care of the cover up. Basically the conspiracy theory is: Gonzalez was the trigger man. Jovica provided the ammunition. And Colon provided the influence to cover it up.
i think both brody and colon knew colon could make due on what he owed colon. brody was happy to have a multimillionaire owe him a lot of money, just as colon was happy not to pay him. i don't think colon cared in the least that brody was playing his booker's punk card because brody did some of the best business for colon. the issue came in when brody wanted part of the office and the book. that's cutting in to colon's long term business. brody homesteads the territory driving up gates like he can, that's more money not flowing into colon's pockets. if all brody wanted was the book and not part of the office colon would have sold 'vader out in a hot second.
then again, colon can control 'vader, he isn't controlling brody. so who knows where colon goes with that sophie's choice even if brody only wanted the book. brody was a problem for a ton of promoters. the only ones he worked well with was eddie graham and mr. baba..
whats sad is i dunno if bruiser brody's wife knows this but every yr wwc celebrates brody's death anniversary and sell brody merchandises.
tim mutohfan...Brody had shares in the WWC Carlos Colon and Victor Jovica didn't want to pay Brody the $40,000 He was entitled to so they sent Jose Gonzales whom Brody had heat with and stabbed Brody to death
Wow, Savio Vega, known at that time as "El Karateca Ninja, TNT"(TNT, The Karate Ninja) is telling it like it is and not holding back. I can't believe I'm even hearing this.
I'm truly ashamed to have believed the BS hype from back then. As an 8yr old kid when this all happened, I was fooled by the media/promos from WWC. I remember looking up to Carlos Colón and Jose Gonzaléz (The Invader #1) the same way kids in the States looked up to Hulk Hogan. What a disgrace.
Unfortunately they were let free and never paid for their crime. What a fucking shame... May they be forced to wear gasoline drawers while walking through hell.

There was a promoter in Florida, Orlando I think, just this year that wanted to book Gonzales for his indy companies (florida wrestling revolution) show that happened a couple months ago.Supposedly they were having a lot of the Puerto Rican guys on the show and dutch mantell because of his time down there as a booker in PR was going to be the special guest. They wanted Gonzales to guest ref one of the matches on the card, but the promoter ended up pulling him from the show all together because of all of the backlash his name got, and all of the threats sent by fans saying what they would do to him if they saw him somewhere because of the brody thing (keep in mind, alot of these people probably have never watched brody, but know what happened to him on the last day of his life). Me personally, I was hoping he'd have left him booked just to be able to see him get what he had coming to him. None the less RIP Brody.
Teh_Jaybee there’s a fed in Orlando that was sort of advertising him for a show.... strange enough I think savio vega is involved with that Indy company.
If a mob kills a mid-card murderer, does anyone shed a tear? Brody has been a not so nice to other wrestlers, and he beat the brakes off the Undertaker in his first pro match, but his fans expected to see that kind of thing. If a little guy like Invader had his pride hurt because Brody squashed him relentlessly, the guy didn't understand what made Brody a draw. He should have looked into the guy's MO before getting in the ring with him. I guess if you squash a thousand guys, one might carry around a big enough grudge to literally bury you.

According to the Vice documentary, Tony Atlas said that a hurt Brody said "Don't let them hurt me"
Well when adrenaline and stuff kicks in, I don’t think people ask questions, especially when it’s relatively obvious what happened.
That was the day when Professional Wrestling Died in Puerto Rico! Tragic and sad event!
Wrestling is alive and well in PR. WWE even held a bunch of shows and a PPV there after those events.
@@CesarIsaacPerez Local wrestling did take a huge hit. Instead of getting Brody and Flair on the regular, we were stuck with the Bushwackers and One Man Gang.
I always enjoyed Savio Vega in the WWE, seemed a cool guy, after learning what he did for Tony Atlas after this incident; the guy is a legend.
Imagine if Brody had a run in the wwf against hulk hogan! Now THAT would have been money!
On a Puerto Rican podcast “Masacote” Puerto Rican heel legend Chicky Starr said that business on the island after the incident fell down to basically nothing for years. The companies could say what they wanted to but the ppl loved Brody and they knew. It wasn’t until guys like Savio Vega introduced IWA to PR and other companies started popping up around the same time like late 90s early 2000s that things were stable again. Never at the level it once was but I can tell you all for sure wrestling is still huge down there with WWE doing house shows as well as indie wrestling companies.
What’s the best place to visit in PR?
So true. If you checked out all the classic Puerto Rico wrestling footage on CZcams. You'll find a lot of great stuff from 1985 to the night of Brody's murder. But not so much footage after the Brody's murder. You see some little footage of WWC from the early 90's but not so much.
Wow respect to Savio for telling this without any fear.
This case is just crazy, some people say Vince was involved some how.....
Invader I works for Savio wrestling promotion
So basically during the trial they tried to paint Bruiser Brody as a brute (think about when a woman murders her husband or boyfriend) based on his persona versus who he was as a person and the sad part is he was the victim
I respect Savio Vega, at least he tried to defend Brody after being killed!
That was total injustice on the part of Colón, Gonzalez, and Quinónes!
Back in like 2008 maybe, Carlos Colon did an interview for RF video and refused to answer any questions involving Brody
Just makes it even more suspicious
According to him it was too sad smh. Carlos is gonna get what's coming to him
Wow.... I had no idea they were riding together. Yes, Brody had a reputation for being stiff and hurting guys, and Harley Race even told him not to take that attitude to Puerto Rico because he might not make it back. I know Brody said he was owed about $25,000 from the promotion, and the rumour was he was going to invest and become a minortiy owner at which point he would fire Gonzalez. If that's true and you put that together with the fact Gonzalez had just lost his 3 year old daughter in a drowing accident, you definitely have an explosive situation. Can't believe it's been 35 years!!
How this was self defense when he has a knife. When both wrestlers go inside the bathroom together ... This was plan .. .. .. .. .. .
This is sad. It’s baffling to think nobody looked to investigate even to this day of what happened to Brody. Like it never happened
Atlas tells a more detailed story , he was the only one to help Brody and went to the hospital with him, Carlos is in the hall of fame , says a lot
Carlos ran many shows at that venue since but not sure when this was recorded. I know I worked 3-4 shows in that stadium in 2006/2007
Hannibal please watch the new VICE documentary on this incident and do a reaction video.
Shut Up SNITCH...... I BET YOU AINT SAY OR DO SHIT WHEN YOU WORKED THERE.... WHEN YOU LEAVE YOU POP ALOT OF SHIT THO RIGHT?
@DJONE NONLEY stfu kid
@@djonenonly6332 what’s he a snitch for? Genuinely curious
@@djonenonly6332 shut the fk up
Plenty of witnesses said Invader left and came back with a towel wrapped over his arm concealing the knife, and he gets off on self defense.
I just watched the Vice documentary on this today. Tony Atlas (who's story has never wavered) pretty much said the same exact things almost verbatim as to what Savio is saying here.
Dutch Mantel was there the night Bruiser was killed. Dutch and Cornette are very tight. I am sure Dutch told him what happened.
It’s not mentioned much here, but the actions of Tony Atlas during the period of time from the stabbing to Brody’s death were pretty damn heroic. I previously had a poor opinion of Atlas bc of things other wrestlers have said about him but I know now that Brody’s death likely cast a shadow on everything else that’s ever happened in Atlas’s life, so he probably does come off as a prick.
Atlas biggest problem is that goes and tells wrestlers personal business about what they did in out of the ring. Example was how he went told jyd buisness after his death . Jud family want remember the good times not all out ring antics. Plus he was no better drug wise
People sure do have a better memory than I do of events 30 years ago and precisely who was there and what happened. I can't even remember who was beside me in the football locker room in college or high school. And that was the 1990s
Despite the accent he is extremely well spoken
Having an accent doesn't determine one's articulation.
If thats what you think well spoken sounds like, i can just imagine how " well spoken" you are
I'd imagine by well spoken he means you can clearly understand what he's saying and he seems to have a more firm grasp on the English language than most white southerners 😂
Dub Yahhh corny commands the english language. The proper and the vulgar. He is a well read, articulate sombitch and oh so quick mentally. From all i've seen in this business of wrestling, James E. Cornette is the absolute smartest. If he had his way and money at his disposal, wrestling would be bigger than football and basketball combined with his immense knowledge of the business. Can't nobody fuck with corny.
Crusnik Rage by southerners I wasn't taking a jab at corny that's my bad it didn't even occur to me it would sound like that. More referring to people I've encountered in rural parts of Virginia and such
I remember when this happened. It was all over the news, and what was shocking is that Invader was never sorry for what he did and didn't serve time. PR wrestling was like a mafia back in the day.
It infuriates me to this day that José González is a free man, that Carlos Colón and Victor Jovica helped cover up Brody’s death. That trial was a sham and all three men need to be brought to trial. It’s a shame that Brody and his family will never get justice.
Rest In Peace Bruiser Brody 🙏🏾
Savio really risked his life for the truth .
I have a feeling Savio knows more than he is saying. He's lying about some things.
He is not, the story have more chapters that he didn't said there. Thats all.
Thank you for actually telling a real version of the story Savio
I loved Savio. Criminally underrated. ..
Died holding a picture of his son
Bruisers family needs to make sure Gonzalez and colon go to prison . Make justice for bruiser. Re open the case and make this two pieces of garbage pay for what they did . Mainly Gonzalez
This is a classic story when a “bully gets bullied”!! Savio is an hypocrite because he’s working right now with Carlos!
Honestly, I wouldn't blame Savio they are just trying to revive what once was the "CAPITOL of WRESLTING" but yeah, Jose, Carlos and Jowica should all pay...
No it is not. There was more to it than just bullying. Colon knows. 😡
Further, a “bully” got more than “bullied,” FFS. He was murdered in cold blood and got away with it due to corruption. Not at all the same thing. Period.
awesome video...
This one time I was reading a list of the most disgusting promotional tactics per year (from Wrestling Observer Newsletter) and I was absolutely shocked to find out that in 1990, José Gonzalez reenacted the incident by "stabbing" Atsushi Onita, obviously mocking the incident two years prior. Most fucking reprehensible thing I've ever seen in professional wrestling by a shamless bastard.
If there is one thing to know about wrestling, is that it is a carny business devoid of class. They'll exploit any incident for publicity.
I remember when poor bruiser was killed. I was watching WCCW and they announced it. Those who were involved should rot in hell.
Between this and hearing Tony Atlas - Christ, this breaks my heart.
Wow
What a interview the story has been told many times never in such detail with an incredible amount of new info.
You can tell Savio is telling the truth it's hard to explain his sincerity and his mannerisms as he details the events leading to the murder of Brody. Add in the seriousness of the accusations he is making Savio is well aware by telling the story puts him in danger of retaliation. Even though it's been 30 years don't think for a second if Savio should happen to be at a Comic Con or the like in PR. Its possible one of the key players in this crime and coverup is capable of having one of their young guns take some kind of action towards Savio.
Superb job Jim fascinating questions...
God Bless The Soul of
Bruiser Brody.
May he Rest In Peace.
Cruzer
savio vega is loved by the bosses and hitmen of puerto rico they will never touch him or let anyone do it
@@trucklife7133I’ve always wanted to visit! Hopefully one day
The sad part of this story is a man lost he's live over money and a son and wife lost a husband and a daddy it a shame it got too that point I hope one day this guy has to pay for this because he took something you just can't give back you can make more money you can't give what he took back rip Brody God bless your family
The man who killed brusier Brody may got away with murder, but I will tell you this this man who killed brusier Brody going to have a answer for it in judgment day
I heard 20 years later they did an angle about "the past" in PR involving Colon and Invader without mentioning it
Sad all around would have loved to see what else bruiser Brody could of accomplished. Side note does jim cornette not have any other pants he can wear I mean he's wearing the exact same get up he wore when he got into the santino argument lol.
Don Vito like Mick Foley with the sweat pants all the time 😂
hahaha, its like an episide of the Simpsons, where theyre wearing the same stuff all the time.
I respect savior Vega for keeping tony Atlas safe
The Bruiser Brody incident makes me so mad. Getting off on self defense when obviously it was premeditated. Not like a 🔪 was just sitting in the locker room of a baseball 🏟️. Shirt should've said "say no to murder damn the drugs"
It’s scary to think that nothing happened and then few seconds later to hear screaming from that shower and the chaos in the locker room. If it’s ever made into a movie I would never watch it cause I would be disgusted to see what happened in the shower and the coverup
Cornette should have told him where was Tony Atlas:
Tony Atlas said that the police spoke English.
Tony Atlas also said ; he wouldn't allow nobody to go near Brody how was he (Vega) next to Brody. Tony Atlas only allowed Carlos to go near Brody and Brody told Carlos to Tell his family that he loved them.
Same thing I was thinking. It seems like he is telling the same story that Tony Atlas has been telling. From my understanding, Atlas' story never changed.
Bombshell; Eric Embry was the booker in Puerto Rico for a time. He said Steve Austin asked him to talk about Brody & the night before the interview Victor Jovica called Embry and told him he better watch what he says to Austin. After the murder Gonzalez told Embry that he didn't want to murder him but wanted to hurt him bad to make him know not to "f" with him.
Embry also said Bruiser Brody loaned 50k to the office and they didn't pay him when they said they would. Brody got mad and said he wanted his money that night and that was the night that he was murdered. Jovica also lost money that he loaned to the business. Embry actually lived with Jovica. Embry also said there was a night that Jovica was drunk. He began bragging that he got Gonzalez off of a murder conviction for 180k. Embry left and never came back.
Jim Jax Media how do you know
Jim Jax Media that false. Embry wasn't even a that time in the office. Ron Starr was in Embry's position.
Jim Jax Media...Everybody here in Puerto Rico knew Brody had shares in the WWC...Carlos Colon and Victor Jovica didn't want to pay Brody the $40,000 he was entitled to so they sent Jose Gonzales whom Brody had heat with to stab him to death then covered it up...it's real corrupt
Austin didn’t start wrestling until 1989
@@troywilliams1531 embry did mention such story to Steve Austin in a podcast which was posted in youtube
What a disgusting human he killed him because he didn't want to pay him
His Facebook is a pic of the outfit Vega said (in this video) he was wearing when he murdered Brody...unreal. Also has a pic of Brody on there
That entire locker room gave a statement different than what Tony Atlas gave. And this guy is one of them.
