Summer of 2020 has arrived faster than ever, and VERIVERY has come back with their second episode album [FACE YOU] from the ‘FACE it’ series with a deeper, more mature appearance.
While [FACE ME], the first album from the ‘FACE it’ series, illustrated the beauty of the courage to find, feel, and face myself, this summer’s release [FACE YOU] develops upon this idea and talks about the clumsy yet firm self-reflection needed in order to use this courage to rise from a dot called ‘I’ and encounter with a dot called ‘you’. It tells the story of through facing myself and self-recognition, 'I' encounter someone else and find healing and discovery of my true self.
Title track ‘Thunder’ contains powerful synthesizer and 808 bass sounds, which outline the theme of the center of ‘FACE it’ series in a bold way. The title track from ‘FACE YOU’ combines both VERIVERY’s powerful vocals and emotional vocals from the bridge section. Title track ‘Thunder’ describes the process of when feeling insecure, you and I come together and overcome with courage and eventually become ‘we’.

Verivery's latest comeback, Thunder is from the album "FACE You", which is part of the "FACE it" series. It started with the album of "FACE Me". Facing the true you can be quite intimidating, especially if you're facing yourself.
Thunder represents the anxiety and depression they feel being in a kpop group, they feel like they'll end up being forgotten after their big moment, like thunder and never to be seen again.
0:10 - "I gotta work it out" - Dongheon, hoyoung, Minchan, Hyeheon, Yeonho, and Yongseung are shown standing in front of a wall of missing posters showing to be none other than Kangmin.
0:18 - "We are free in the darkness" - Now they have entered into the darkness thanks to Kangmin (all began in Tag Tag Tag).
A sense of foresahdowing is done here as Kangmin is running through a field in the darkness, the light shines down on him with fear in his eyes and he ends up dropping a digital watch.
0:20- "When the lightning strikes, the whole world freeze!" - Frozen due to fear, the scene cuts to the rest of the members all together again trying to search for any clue to do with Kangmin.
0:27 - "Uncontrollably pulled tension" - the use of the cut on action onto the rest of the members as desperately trying to find Kangmin, they're all feeling tense as they can't find the youngest member of their team.
0:31 - "As soon as you lower your guard, it comes striking" - Minchan seems to lower his guard as he turns behind him gazing out of the window into the night sky, then all of a sudden there is a flash of lightning, and what comes after lightning? THUNDER!
0:32 - "Electric that wakes you up from your sleep" - Then cutting to Hyeheon who picks up a missing poster of Kangmin.
0:35 - "Reach out my hand in a short flash. I won't miss the chance and I'll grab you up." - Meanwhile, Minchan's curiosity gets the best of him as he stands up and takes a closer look out of the window. Then again, there are four flashes of lightning all at once, he seems to be mesmerised by its vigorous light.
0:41 - "Amidst the deep darkness we are connected. I can feel all your heart deeply" - The scene juxtaposes back into darkness when Kangmin is, he seems tired and fatigued for all that running, but he can sense the rest of the members within his heart.
0:47 - "Tearing up anxious gazes, memories, trapped in loneliness like the night sky" - Back to the rest of the members, they're looking at one another anxiously as there's still no luck in finding Kangmin. They feel like they're trapped, unable to go anywhere(like the sky), but really this foreshadows a hint to where Kangmin is, he's alone, outside on this very night.
0:52 - "We like a thunder" - This is a metaphor on how they're feeling, thunder has the connotation of confusion and fear, represents all of the members mixed feelings and a sense of poignancy.
0:55 - "Tear it down deep inside" - . Shown on an old tv, Kangmin is standing there, alone in a field, unable to see his eyes. Considering the members thoughts and fears of the thunder, they want to tear and surpass their feelings they have and get Kangmin back once and for all.
1:00 - "Drawn so powerfully" - Hoyoung has an idea, and goes back to the drawing board with his powerful thoughts on where to find Kangmin.
1:03 - "Don't know how to stop" - Hoyoung doesn't know if he's right, but he can't stop, any clue is better than nothing.
1:05 - "Can't stop, I might lose my sight" - (Okay so I cried because I'm an a nerd) at this part, the camera isn't in focus so you can't see the rest of the members at first, then the camera zooms out into focus of the members. This shows the haziness they felt at the start trying to find Kangmin, but now they have a clue, things are starting to look more clear to them now.
But contrastingly, Kangmin is shown to have no vision, he has no sight, he's unable to find his way back to him team.
1:11 - "Run without resting, swallow everything" - Previously shown, Kangmin had been running, trying to escape the darkness, but the darkness is trying to swallow him up. This could be a metaphor for depression, shown in Tag Tag Tag, social media has a lot of influence on "who you should be", making many people fall into the pits of depression/darkness. Kangmin is trying to get better, but he needs the help of his team, teamwork is vital.
1:14 - "More freely, feelin' it, ay" - These more relaxed lyrics could connote the sense of being free. As a human being, you need to feel free to be free, meaning to be free is a part of life. Free will. Many kpop groups don't have this, maybe some companies should be more lenient, and let them have THEIR OWN freedom!
1:16-1:23 - "Keep going on/lighting up the night/in the light" - The members are cheering Kangmin on as he runs through the warehouse(seen in Lay Back), he can escape this darkness of depression and go back into the light with them.
1:26 - "You run endlessly, pierce more sharply" - Kangmin is running through the darkness, creating flashes of lightning everywhere, and he become the lightning ready to make a roar like thunder.
1:28 - "When it flashes deep, I reach out my hand" - Kangmin is beaming lightning now, the members want to take him away from this darkness of his, and are so desperately trying to get a hold of him.
1:31 - "I'll take you far away so everyone can see" - They want to take kangmin so far out of the dark, that then he won't be labelled as a "missing" person anymore, everyone would be able to see him again.
1:35 - "When it's connected in the midst of tight darkness, I think I've seen all your heart" - Upon finding the watch Kangmin had dropped, the members are drawing closer into the darkness, where they begin to realise it's Kangmin's heart that has been hurt.
1:40 - "Shake up all the cold words and trauma that kept you locked up" - Those cold words for hate online has caused Kangmin a lot of trauma that he hasn't shared with anyone. The members realise this now, and want him to be honest with them so they can help him get better.
1:49 - "We like a thunder seep in deep inside" - Kangmin can't be the thunder because they're all the thunder deep down. Together they've created a storm, but Kangmin contains the lightning, he has started it all because of his own negative thoughts.
1:52 - "Make you feel thrilled" - They just want to make Kangmin happy :')
1:55 - "Up and high" - Represents the ups and downs you have during depression. Sometimes you're fine and no one notices, but other times it's really eating you up inside.
1:56 - "As if going crazy" - Again, the camera is hazy but now they're all in the dark together.
1:59 - "I might faint" - When feeling overwhelmed you could dizzy and out of place, that's exactly what they're trying to depict within Kangmin as he stares aimlessly above him.
2:01 - "Can't stop, no way to get caught" - Kangmin can't stop running away, he doesn't want anything to do with socail media anymore, and maybe fake friends too.
2:05 - "Movements getting faster" - Kangmin is shown sitting underneath a light bulb in the dark, something is getting closer towards him now, and he doesn't think he can stand a chance anymore.
2:14 - "More freely, feelin' it, ay" - Kangmin's watch has now become lightning(like Kangmin), similar to hide and seek in Tag Tag Tag, this is like hot and cold game (but with lightning lol)in finding Kangmin, they're feeling like they're closer to him now.
2:23 - "You've waited for someone to hold you" - Kangmin just really needs someone to understand him, someone to connect to, someone he can hold close to him, and I think that someone is his friends and his team members of Verivery. As soon as the rest of the members arrive, it's nearly too late, he's so exhausted from running so far, he gives in and become the lightning completely.
2:34 - "We feel like thunder sky" - Kangmin being lifted up could symbolise death and going to "heaven." At this moment, Verivery know what to do, they need to protect Kangmin as he's the youngest, and to do that they need to do it themselves as a team!
3:01 - Verivery has got Kangmin back, and as protection they've put him in the middle of them, taking themselves as a tribute. Kangmin covered his eyes so he can't see the negativity of this world and what it has done to him, and his team hold him so he doesn't leave their sight again.
3:05 - Cut to black of the warehouse Kangmin nearly die in, they're all hugging Kangmin, they don't want to lose their youngest member. After all, they're a team, they need to work together to overcome and issues they're facing. Kangmin needed to FACE IT, and now he has thanks to his team.
But now, are they all stuck together in the darkness?

Plot twist: Kangmin missing because he's been kidnapped by Pennywise and his 6 beloved hyung looking for him. They searching him at the empty & dark building and finally they found Kangmin but unfortunately he been struck by a *THUNDER* and he almost become a Thor but his hyung luckily saved him before it happened. All of them hugging each other in the end.

Tbh while i lovee VERIVERY’s bright side, their darker concept shows just how much range this group has and their acting skills are 100/100, the song is also goood and i can’t wait to see the live stages because they never disappoint when it comes to performance!!

They started out as a really cute concept and now they’re slowly becoming a slightly darker/cool concept. Verivery is showing their versatility really well💖 this song is so good! They’re becoming a little similar to their vixx seniors who also started as cute and became dark/theatrical. Of course me being a starlight and verver i might compare, but not too much because both are good and different in their own way. 💖 but if verivery decided to make a comeback like chained up i think I’ll be scared 💀

Then Thunder drawing + hand drawing in the book that Dongheon grab in Beautiful-X perf. Even the lines in the floor (VCR) for their 1st performance (90 sec perf) are being used for their album cover :)
