Based on the developers' reactions to other similar videos, they're actually proud of the fact that these speed runs don't break the game or rely on exploiting bugs and design flaws.
@@Durwood71 in the reaction from a month before this the developers point out that a few of the key points of getting these times rely on the design not working, like the fence hopping at the plant, clearing the combat flags, opening locked doors by reloading, blind spots. There's multiple design flaws (Designs that were meant to prevent the player from doing what they're doing, both physical objects and triggers/gates to force the narrative on the player, it's jsut that of the latter this game has very few allowing the player to gut the vast majority of the content they thought would be in the way) that make the speed run possible
I'll try to use this route just to get my supernova achievement more quickly. I'll post an update if I managed. edit: the dumb ending doesn't count as an ending for supernova achievement. Dammit!
@@chases7941 I got the throphy in 3 hours by adapting this playthrough and using all pacifist options. I did have to do some local sidequests to get all the speech options to 80 and use armor + perks to raise them to 100.
Right? I felt like some of those were marco'd moments. like that card steal to unlock the office and that safe slide to grab the item from the safe on the ground breaker
I'd heard this game was a little on the shorter side. Shame. These days I really don't wanna waste my money on anything less than a 16 minute experience. Developers are just getting lazy these days...
Like to see this done on a console. The loading times would be longer than the run and there is no way you can cheat on console/ run a program that we don't know about.

Bruh I just beat this game and I was wondering was it really short yes if you did the main missions only but the side missions made up for it but the little selection of weapons made me sad but it’s fun

I’ve always wondered how speedrunning modern games handle patches. Like what if a patch comes out that slows movement speed when you heal as a form of game balance? Are previous records just not counted anymore?

This run is not tool assisted. If you go into the UI settings and check "Show Responses While Listening" then you can mash through dialogue much much faster. Other than that it's just mashing the dialogue I want to say, spacebar and enter.
Make sure you're in the corner as much as possible, open the safe from the back and be sure to take the seal before you stand up. Helps to have more lockpick for it to open faster but 40 is enough for the speedrun.

Speed runs often take more time than it does to complete the game multiple times over since speed runs have so much nuance

Sygmandias the Mage look up supernova speedrun, there are ones that include Tartarus and I used it to get the supernova trophy in 30 minutes

malataur You pickpocket him and then run so he chases after you, getting him to open the door. This way you can skip a few quests.

Just look at half-life. iirc, they patched out bunnyhopping for release on steam, so runners use a previous build
the community generally agrees on running a certain patch which is included in the rules for official runs. this game uses base vanilla patch.
Developers fighting speedrunners is a bad practice anyway. People do it for fun, why ruin that?

19 hours on hard mode, while i did most of the quests on all planets except for byznatium. I died a lot too. I really enjoyed the game though.

40 is pretty accurate if you actually want to experience the full game. It's good for a solid 3 playthroughs at least.

It's an any% run, therefore he's beating the game as fast as he can. That includes using glitches. Watch a glitch less run if it upsets you.
