Despite what he says here, the "good hearted woman" of the song is actually Jessi Colter, Waylon's wife. They had been married about 5 years at the time of this show in 1974; they were married for 32 years until his death in 2002.
I am not going to argue with you because I know he sings it about his wife but there is a video of Wayland and Willie talking about writing it about Tina putting up with Ike
