Update: it seems pvp AP is on, but it is related to rank. I BELIEVE neophyte rank and possibly apprentice rank give zero AP for killing them. Still trying to figure it out.
OK - update RE PVP KILLS: We still don't know how it's being calculated exactly. Trying to pull info from game files now. a LOT of pvp kills are giving zero, and some key others are giving **99** AP. We believe it's a gear score breakpoint of some kind, but aren't sure as of yet. Either way, it seems unreliable atm.
Pretty sure you gain AP on pvp kills based on your opponents rank. Get more the higher rank they are.
it depends on the difference between your ranks if you have high rank and your killed target dosnt, u wont get AP or less then if u kill higher ranked or same ranked players - its explaind couple months ago

I can see Ironmace removing the PvP bonus to dissuade Timmy-stomping all the new players. Obviously most of the newbies are FTP and will only be in norms, but some will buy the game and try out High Roller, and would likely jump right back to norms if they got hunted by a Heat-Seaking Anti-Timmy squad for their cracked bangles and 100 AP bounty.
See, I wasn't exactly aware of the ranking thingies but it's exactly my situation, as a brand new F2P turned customer, I was already cautious about going in High rollers because I already get slapped around hard enough in normals.
I'm also sitting on a bit of gold, so I might as well check at one point, but I wanted to ask a couple of things to the community first.
How brutal is it ? How geared are players ? As of right now, I'm starting to know a couple of rooms, but I'm still very lacking when it comes to map knowledge / traversal, how fucked am I ?

@Kojakofthelake you are fine. Just plug along in normals until you have map knowledge and know what enemies are where etc. Then step into high roller. High roller players can be geared or they might not be. I'm at the point in DaD where I go into high rollers with nothing a lot of the time. Trust me. Once you gain knowledge of what things sell and how the maps are, you will make a ton of gold and not even worry about 100 for high roller. If it's still a worry for you to lose 100g, then don't do it. If you want to see what it's like, go for it as well. No wrong decision.

Its really clear to me that they're making it easier so new players can try the system while they're getting the hang of the game and not get too frustrated.
I got to Demi last season when it was HARD hard and i thought it was a cool challenge, however, we gotta be honest, Season ONE demigod was PISS EASY to get, we all had the whole season 1 to learn it before they made it hard on Season 2. Its only fair that new players get to have a "learning season" as well imo

followed this and got to top 25 overall and was top 3 fighter for a little bit, and got demigod in like 3 days, was a good grind, thanks Onepeg!
Keep in mind that PvP was not used for player kills but rather for stealing treasure from dead players. This means PvP is still as viable for AP grind.
Treasure grade doesn't matter; henceforth, it matters less. In addition, you wouldn't get the points for interacting with the chests.

but why 50/50 your entry fee against a skill and/or gear diff when you can grind mobs/treasure?
treasure is for money. kills(mob and pvp) are for ap.
gear should probably grant ap so you are incentivized to bring good boss loot out and a boost for pvp ap as well.

You will get more AP from a Crypts/Inferno run than you would from a Goblin Cave, but it also takes longer.
I feel like it won’t be modified and think this is a good change. I think it’s good to have more demigods as it doesn’t really affect the leaderboard as many will just hit demigod and not queue anymore
I think it's a good change honestly. As someone who's really sweaty, but has a job, even I haven't ever cared about leaderboards. I never cared because I knew only streamers, of whom this game is a job, would ever be able to achieve anything in the top 5 ranks.
Now, someone like me who "Casually" plays this game for 4+ hours a day after work will actually be able to achieve something. :)

Did it in under 24hrs as Bard. Love the game BUT would love to see the OLD leaderboards back, so many different styles and something for everyone and not only treasure hunter. Happy and Sadge at the same time

I think it's a good thing that good players get to the rank they deserve faster, ranks should effect queues but the issue was always player count.
So long as those in Demigod have full lobbies I don't see the issue in them getting their rank sooner than those that have to improve to get there.
Put it this way, A timmy that gets taken out by the first axe skelly is never netting 2.1k AP a game
I would like to add that rank is a reflection of skill, not a grind fest.

If you break treasure chests as a barb does it count towards ap, or do you have to interact/open them?
Pretty sure you can crush chest and still get the prop interaction points, that’s how it was last season anyways
Removing the enclosing circle from playing the game really removes the suspense of "holy shit, how am i going to get out of here?! Oh god theres 5 barbs and 1 portal!"
Also, showing the blue portals on the ground before they come up removes the suspense as well.
I know its to accommodate the new players, but i kind of miss that rush of oh shit, this are getting real

I use both words to refer to the same thing, but Onepeg clearly refers to two different categories. I don't understand the taxonomy used here.
Item is weapon, armor, rings, necklaces, capes, utility. Treasure is collectables like cups, bracelets, water pots, scrolls etc.
Treasure is the goblets and stuff you sell to the collector, items are gear/potions and everything else.
on the tooltip of each item in the game there is a category. "treasure" is what you want.
do you have to maintain the rank, or once you hit it can u keep playing the same character and not worry about it?
No you can hit Demigod and as long as you don't die with that rank you'll keep it.
the problem i have is, what do you do when the cost to enter is more than you can make going into hell and coming out?
What are you on about? You can easily make 300+ gold on every map each run

man they need to rework skill system , to be a little bit less Gear depending . Some Skeletons on High Roller are so fast , Sonic on white magic powder woudnt catch them .

2:44 Did you mean that you'd get all the rewards UP UNTIL Examplar (and not Demigod)? Because what you said came through like you would not get everything below your rank where you finish, just the last one. That's not how it worked before.
If you reach examplar 3 you get the reward for examplar, if you hit just a little below demigod (examplar 1) you still only get the examplar reward, you need to have demigod when the season ends, if you reached demigod but deranked before rewards are given out you also still just get the examplar reward
It was atrocious to attempt Demi god last wipe. When the best players to ever touch the game couldn’t get Demi god…. Something’s wrong lol glad to see changes!
Last season had nohing to do with skill, you just had to rat gameplay for 20 hours for exemplar. Max 300 ap per run , so dying was not an option.

There should be no skins above voyager for season rewards. When there is, people will just be super passive to get Demigod, and many people, including myself, shouldn't be up there. The rewards above voyager should be stuff like gold and gear to help give a boost for next season. I got to th highest voyager in season one and couldn't play all last season because of an arm injury. If this is gonna be the season where more people get demigod, then high roller will be a joke for pvp.
at the beginning yes, but as more and more people get demi it wont matter because it takes your highest ever rank for the ranked rewards

Not gonna happen. Even if I mananged to extract twice in a row, just one fail and all that ap is gone. Just gonna stick to LR base kit and sit when I see someone.
Seems like they want neutral experience when running into other players. Personally I'm not too sure removing player kill AP was a good idea. Last thing I want is everyone just running around high fiving each other and running together again.

2 seasons ago in Ruins it was everyone meeting up at the bridge for a chat and a coffee. Every last zone was people opening portals together since prop interaction was worth so much. There was never any PVP unless you were playing Among Us and killed somebody outside the group because if you attacked anyone you'd be teamed on by 3+ people. It wasn't all that fun.
I don't like this new system because bossing seems the only reliable way to get Demi, but I could be wrong. Everyone is going to just be friendly in Inferno and camp the triple extract rooms. There should be plenty of portals and loot for everyone to get out. Killing another player won't be worth it because you can't carry their good gear out and lose points and your bags will be full of treasure already at that point.
Big L Leaderboard update, I don't know why they don't make it more PvP focused with some PvE as well (no treasure)
Because PvP is not something that all class are good at. And I personally think that it should keep being like this. So you can have different play styles and different ways to gain points, depending on whether you are a thief, a killer, a mob farmer or a mix of the above. Of course, I am not saying that they might want to recalibrate the points awarded for the various actions.
@@leoskate89 There is not a single class in the game that is not viable for pvp they are making the game easier for the new players and lowering that skill curve for RANKED is not a good choice its ranked its a leaderboard it should be rewarding for the players who are actually skilled not rewarding running away from everyone and looting all match same issue as past seasons thats why they started making pvp kills give ap
@@billyjoebob7320 of course that they are all VIABLE, but they PERFORM differently in the different fields. A fighter, a druid or a warlock is definitely better to deal with mobs than a rogue or a wizard. And a barbarian, painfully slow in everything but fighting, is not suited for looting chests, for example (yes, I know, you can break the wooden chests), while a rogue is just a bonified thief.
The objective of the game has always been to "loot and survive", not to chase and kill other players. That is something that you can do if you want the extra reward of their loot, or if you are forced by the situation (such as, time is running out and you meet others at the same extraction portal).
@@billyjoebob7320 and being skilled at a game is not just being good at PvP in said game. It is being able to perform in most or all of the features of that game. In the case of dark and darker, loot, kill mobs, PvP and survive. It is only fair that the leaderboard reflects who is actually able to do not just one of those fields. HOWEVER, as I said already, I agree that they should reevaluate the points awarded for the aforementioned actions
@@leoskate89 Its a PvPvE extraction looter thats like saying the goal in tarkov isnt killing other players its fighting the npcs. Youre wrong about certain classes being bad at pvp and others being bad at mob clearing and I say that with experience as Ive played every class in game since playest 3 (more than a year ago) and have more than 1k hours in the game. The classes have different playstyles sure but a big part of the game is adapting to whats happening and how you react to different situations I mained cleric one season and rogue the last 2 and I play mostly solos and still W key people and win as the "bonified thief" or the 'healer' it sounds like u have a massive skill issue going on no class forces you to play a certain way its about finding out how you can play to your advantage and adapt/react to whats happening and if you think being skilled at a game doesnt mean being better than the other players then idk what to tell you other than youre coping with that skill issue. Just because you know how to clear the mobs and run away from people does not mean you are skilled .The leaderboard is supposed to show the top players in the game not the lil timmys that run away from everyone and loot all game thats why they added ap for pvp kills in the first place. I mean sure the PvE is a piece of the game but majority of content is pvp focused. They dont make updates to be like "we thought rogue wasnt strong enough to kill mobs fast so we buffed him" its "Rogue isnt stacking up to the other classes in fights so we're buffing him" Try going to the discord and saying skilled at this game means being able to loot and clear mobs and not being better than the other players.

Jay also didn’t get that 2k exp by himself. It has “monster kill assist” and you only get that by players in your party killing other mobs.
I am aware, but the point stands. Duos/trios don’t have additional cost. Teammates feeding into the pot only serve to generate more over time
So your highest rank doesn't count towards reward if you de-rank now? So If you reach demigod you stop playing that character for fear of losing the rank? lame

So is this going to be another season of friend and friendlier? PvP and gear being worthless or next to it and only mob kills and treasure counting that is. Sure PvP will still mean you can steal people's treasure from them after you take them out but you dont know how much treasure they have on them. This also means it is now actually harder for me a little, because I have the worst luck when it comes to treasure and can never get a full inventory of treasure let alone even find high value treasure. So I guess at least I do play a warlock so can just like kite a whole dungeon with flame walker and throw curses and hell fires back at the train of enemies chasing me.
