the fact you know those people are dead now....make's it a lot worst
Not all of them are dead this is 70 years ago, let’s say the children are 10 they’re not all dead still the music makes me want to not exist
The video was made in 1955. Which means it is around 75 years. The average life expectancy male in scotland is 77.1, while the female is 81.1. So some of these people might not be dead
That is a bit scary oof
It is scary. Now think about our ancestors billion years ago. Super scary stuff.
Anyone knows this place???
That place where she is. Is actually similar like the Little Nightmares 2 city is making sense now.
The pale city, fucking brilliant how similar it looks
Devs obviously took inspiration from this
You mean Glasgow? lol 😂
@@teletextpear2525 I think so
It is its like the pale city
Everybody talking about the creepiness of the song and/or the lyric change and/or mind blown, but I'm sitting here marveling at that little lady's jumping skills. Like, damn, I could barely handle jumping one rope, let alone two at once _while_ singing at the same time like what the heck she better have grown up to be an athlete somewhere.
IKR 🤣
its double dutch, was a popular style till in the 90s. lost of jump rope jingles are creepy.
i dont really mind the creepy song either im also amaze on that girl how she jump like that like a ninja :O
IKR?!
Kids are agile asf
the 2nd part sounds like
"Yes love, yes love, at half past three"
to me instead
Yes it does say that in ^^
Before that it says “sweetheart, sweetheart, will you marry me?”
It’s a rhyme about marriage pretty much
@@mechanical5809 so in the game they made it a song of separation
czcams.com/video/gVtFC6erxb0/video.html&ab_channel=gameeater
Even the environment from that old video has that hazy, foggy, pale and opaque effect that is characteristic of Pale City from LN game. They really took a big inspiration with that video from 1950's. I always thought that Little Nightmares was set in the 30's to 50's because the environment and the technology they showed in the game looked vintage.
Omg thst makes sense because the kids were singing the Veronica song omg now we know the original version I’ve been seeing people saying it has an original but I was like where
Also anyone else more excited that we keep discovering things now because of little nightmares 2? It’s all coming together
I'd be more excited to find out it's lore clearly. All we got is speculations.
@@larrytherustyboii7442 Yeah and a shit ending with the biggest cliche ever.
@@NobodyUndefined how was that cliche? How often did you see characters dropping people at the end of the story?
@@larrytherustyboii7442 Um because it's not just about a character dropping another one? The whole Six betraying Mono thing was cliche and shit also the main character becoming a villain was cliche too.
Thanks for crediting me!
Np, you really did a huge discovery
good job finding this, mate. I imagine the sound designers/artists looked up traditional kid songs for a long time to find the perfect one to put in the game. It's rly good.
@Anonymous Anonymous if he did, he should of posted it. Sorry to your friend
Me and others literally saw it before him but nvm.
Im not in some random discord chat🤷🏻♂️
hey can i have your discord i think i found the name, the origin and where the song came from i found the name and everything about it in about 2 months
Looks like the creators inspired by this, 'cos there is a lady in green in VLN - the Pretender. Her mother is also in green tho-

its a jump rope song it has no meaning but the bullies sang it while jump roping so i think they used to be normal but the tv made them like that they still remember that song from when they were normal
OMG, I was thinking that the Little Nightmares varient is realistic, but this is too relatable.
So that's why the bullies sang the song while they were jump roping because the song was used for jump roping!
I had an idea, this doesnt cover everything but the Veronica Song. I think it alluded to the ending of LN2. What if its backwards, not the song but the order. I'm not sayin six's name is actually veronica, but the veronica is representing her.
"Sent on a ferry above our sea" may refer to mono and six on that door sailing out to the city, not fully sure
"Run run here comes veronica" could be how six took mono from the TV before she was taken
"Come come he cut veronica" being thin man taking six
"Come fun here comes veronica" could be mono saving six from the tower.
Skip, "no more bellman among the sea.
Hello, hello, we are lonely" and"my way, my way And you'll see a halo ascending above our sea." Since I cant explain that yet.
"Help her help her and you'll see" being Mono going to help six and seeing her being distorted by the tower
"Dont leave me" being mono struggling to catch up with six as they escape
"He hung he hung" being mono hanging from the ledge by six holding onto him
"Come with me oh no no" is six making it look like mono will be goin with until she lets go of him
And finally "having a nightmare in a boat" is a fast forward to six abordt the maw
It got holes but I really like the idea, please see this and I've been sending it around on other videos
I like this theory ! It makes sense
My Theory is Veronica is the Pretender
"Come fun here comes veronica"
Which it means that THE pretender is coming to get them which is the Raincoat Girl and Six
"Run run he cut veronica"
I dunno why It's "He" but i think that it means Six dropped the Boulder above them to cut the way out so the Pretender couldn't get the other girl which who wears the Raincoat
Can't rlly remember now much, but i remember something "help her help her and we'll see" which means the Girl in Raincoat locked herself in but Six outside the Door and should she help her or not
Well most of the Lyrics connect to the Four characters, which is Six, Raincoat Girl, Veronica/Pretender and the Butler, i dunno it's just my theory
Six and mono didn’t sail they more like floated also from a theory map of the ln world they most likely floated across a gulf not an ocean but after the events of the mobile game six did float across the sea
The song really had no meaning, people just misheard the lyrics. It was originally just a jump rope song from the film The Singing Street in 1951
those lyrics like "sent on a ferry" "veronica" were just misheard and now everyone believes it lol
I’ve been wondering when someone would talk about this!
This kind of goes with the nightmare theme. Kids are constantly mishearing lyrics and in a nightmare this song would come out as warped mess.

Holy shit it's a real song?! I can tell they changed the lyrics tho
The bullies were singing this in the back when they were playing jump rope
NOTE: little nightmares 2 is just a game to warn us not to watch tv. =(
0:35 holy fucking shit that video got recommend to me after watching some LN2 vids, don't know what is it, no comments about LN.. Just got stunned when watching it
saw that too and tried to find anything out about that jump rope song
there are many songs that have the same begin but than get different real quick
that's bc kids used to make their own version so each jump rope song is different from eachother.
with that in mind we can't know if this video was the exact inspiration for the song in the game bc there are many jump rope songs out there with the same melody but different lyrics, like i already mentioned.
I like the fact that she's looking at the thumbnail like: "These bastards don't pay me well".
When I was in elementary at our school we actually sung this
Wow, mind blown!! Also, even the original is creepy asf!!
There’s 3 versions:
The original
The Veronica version
The bully version
If you listen carefully the Bullies actually sing a different version to the tv lady
Yup, I noticed too.
This footage was filmed in Edinburgh in 1951. The song ‘Down in the Valley’ has many variations, with the earliest reference to it being from 1888, although the Opies suggest that it may have been around long before this date. The song was used as a skipping rhyme and as a singing game too. Other versions of it include ‘Down by the Riverside where the Green Grass Grows’, ‘Down in Yonder Meadow where the Green Grass Grows’ and ‘Down in the Valley where the Violets Grow’.
Vortex the theorist.
you can notice that the kitchen the lady from the tv song is in looks exactly like the hunter's kitchen
:)
The layout is not the same
@@sannyan848 it couldve been changed, it doesnt always have to be the same layout
@@chrisauciello throughout the game there were no signs of *fish* in the game it's a maw thing. But who knows maybe the theory is correct.
@@sannyan848 yea maybe the fish got shipped to the maw
I was thinking the world of ln was set in somewhere in the 1930s or 40s, this pretty much confirms it. And are the lyrics on the little nightmares one made up then?
Yep. Lke the tv models, furniture and how characters are dressed maybe close to or around late 40s to early 50s?
1951
The first part be like "BEE LA LA BEE BA BA BEE BA BO"
It did sound vaguely familiar, like a distant memory. Maybe it's just that it sounds very much like a schoolyard song.
Wow that's scary in real life! Do you have a connection and I you know who actually know the woman on tv?
Me
i have a feeling it could be another chef but she didn’t get warped by the signal tower like all the other characters thats why she’s the only normal looking one
Thank you for sharing this!! it makes more sense now!
これ本当にあった歌なのか。
I told people that it was a hidden message they said no it wasn’t they are fools
What’s the hidden message?
@@scpagent086 I’m not sure but now it’s pretty much confirmed there is one
@@dimitri7615 I see more as a clue to a bigger picture
@@scpagent086 yeah me too
Back then we thought the hidden message had to do with the Wax Bellman secret character from the first game. Im not sure if he’s ever referenced in LN2 though
I heard that the TV girl is live with the Hunter, because the fridge, knife, and the cake is in the Hunter Place. There is also a theory about that
Yea i saw that theory, it makes a lot of sense, there is the fridge in the right place, even the window is at the same place, but in the veronica one it has a curtain, as if it WAS BEFORE THE HUNTER TOOK THE HOUSE
@@FV0RT3X Probably the Hunter and Veronica are couple, because there is a love struck in one of the wood
Oh yea
Or possibly, the dinner lady in the school? That’s her. She went to the place city for a job, but never returned. That’s why the house is a mess. There’s left over rotting food and the house is a mess because the hunters wife never returned? Bit far fetched though...
Guys if u check artbook of ln on yt the 2nd one u can see Veronica but a monster
Dude. I knew I recognized that tune from somewhere else. This actually makes a lot of sense now. My housemate and I both thought it sounded like a tune that children playing a game would sing. For some reason I kept thinking it was a clapping game though instead of jump rope.
a perfect song for creating a creepy atmosphere for the game
I suddenly miss playing jump rope with friends back then. Such fun times after school.
Wait in the little nightmares 2 artbook search up on yt it shows Veronica but a monster
No, that’s a different character
@@FV0RT3X yeah also shows the barber the dude with wrinkle head
Can you tell us the history behind the original song? Might help with the lore...
The song was originally from a Scottish film about nursery rhymes and myths. This song was a nursery rhyme. It had children playing in the streets of Edinburgh, skipping and running down the streets. That’s all I found when I discovered the song
I did a bit of digging, got to the British Library site, say's the lyrics are:
"Down in the valley where the green grass grows,
Very, very green, she grows and grows.
She grows, she grows, she grows so sweet,
There’s grass growing long at the end of the street.
Sweetheart, sweetheart, will you marry me?
Yes, love, yes, at half past three.
Iced cakes, spice cakes are for tea,
And we’ll have a wedding at half past three.

The song is stuck in my head
Listening to the veronica song on LN, I was sure I'd heard the tune before but just couldn't put my finger on exactly where!
Not going to lie a little spooky and a great edit
i wondered until now why the bullies schools was the same as mine and the teacher was really familiar

Thank you, I was curious.
Fun fact: if you look for the art book for LN2, you can actually see what happened with veronica
I was wondering when someone was going to bring new evidence to the song. Because the other interpretations about boat and nightmares was just not cutting it. The vowels and syllybles were not matching. THanks for this video.

Down in the valley where the green grass grows
When it's green, she grows and grows (Not 100% sure of this part)
She grows she grows she grows so sweat
She calls for a lover at the age of three
Sweet heart sweet heart will you marry me
Yes love yes love it's half past three

This was from listening to it well, but there are other versions when I searched "Down in the valley where the green grass grows" like this misslucy.wordpress.com/2008/08/06/down-in-the-valley/
Or this www.scrapbook.com/poems/doc/19747.html
So basically this is like a nursery love rhyme or something.
The fact that it says "bum bum here comes tactical bum bum here comes tactical " like what.?
The same can be applied to the bullies tune and the guest theme
WHAT THE HOOT!!? My head is blown! I need to know the whole story behind Little Nightmares!!!! Please let there be a Little Nightmares 3.!!
This gives me the chills
Also I think that veronica person is living with the hunter since the background of the place looks like the same has the hunter's place.
Wow, my mind is exploding 🤯
that's really interesting, I wonder if it actually has anything to do with little nightmares lore or if it's just some random song they picked.
Theres no meaning behind the original song, they just copy the tone of the original to make it creepier.
when you first thought it was like russian or maybe even scandinavion after a 2cd listen, then notice the comments and thelyrics of the song i was like :O
Thank you!!
No le habia dado cuenta de eso creo que lo jugare otra vez para ver solo esa parte.
Janitor better turn that TV off before Mono gets there.
OMG that completely makes it that must be based off of it

I knew it had no hidden meaning and was just a song. being a dev myself devlopers often put in random media as filers for something and it usily doesnt have any deep or hidden meaning
I own this song on an original vinyl record from 1955 Wanda Gann - In The Valley
I think they changed the lyrics in the game tho because it obviously sounds very different
Thanks
*me who"s sitting alone in a room* : will roger come here?
i want to know what ALL the tv song's came from
I need an epic remix of this
Having a nightmare in a boat
Come with me, oh no, no, no
He's gone, he's gone, he hung

And you'll see a halo ascending above our sea.
Come fun, here comes Veronica
Come, come, he cut Veronica
Run, run, here comes Veronica,
Sent on a ferry upon our sea
This actually creeps me out because of what she says and that she is a actual person
From which year was the old video?
Great!
these are the real lyrics,
"Down in the valley where the green grass grows

Woah!
