I am still captivated by their rehearsal performances even though I watched the actual live performances so many times.

14:50 vocal nodules are growths that can form on the vocal folds from overuse. They can usually be managed by vocal rest and and physical therapy over an extended period of time, but can sometimes require surgery to remove them. The problem with surgery though is that it is very risky and can result in permanent loss of vocal range. Julie Andrews is an example of this happening - she completely lost her higher register as a singer due to complications from her surgery.

i.n was actually not on the floor during his part! he lies down on a small stool type thing while he sings and it takes a lot of core strength, no idea how he managed to sing so stable while doing that lmao

22:27 not really, coffee dehydrates the body thus the vocal cords.

I wasn’t a theatre kid but I was a competition choir kid. And for us it was kinda the same. You never rlly think about ur vocal choirs being exhausted until you’ve been going over the same song for 4 hours straight without rest.I’ve gotten dizzy before but I only passed out once from dehydration. The more brutal or horrible coaches will limit how much water we drink so that we don’t have to take many restroom breaks. And that + us practicing from 9 am to well into the night and then performing THAT night = lots of dehydrated ppl. I managed to hold on during the performance but after my portion was over and just barely stumbled out of the auditorium and a security guard had to help me to the water fountain in the hall. I blacked out and it was def a horrible experience. But I was commuted and continued to do performances and completions. In total I did it from 3rd grade to the nearly the end of HS. I only stopped bc I began to pursue art and now that’s my job lol
