I must say that seat spring thingy is neat.
It is! It’s a nifty little thing, miles more reliable than a new dropper and at a fraction of the cost!
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out the video, here’s my Reynolds 853 tubed Jamis Dragon Pro build for ya weekends viewing!
My Instagram and build list is in the description.
This build isn’t technically “finished” yet. I still have some stickers to put on, wheels to service, frame bag to make, dropbars eventually, bolt on skewers, more aggressive front tyre etc.
Cheers! -Adam/ToastyRides
WOW! looking great! love what you did to the crank!! cutting it is genious!!
I fell in love with half-link chains for builds like this.
Very good job. Finally, fun in the mud.
Cool.
Beautiful bike and build! Keep the videos coming!
Thank you! Will do 😎🤙
Sweet build mate!
Crank spider mod was particularly interesting. Initially, I figured you'd swapped the spider for a non-integrated option (based on IG teaser snaps of the finished Dragon) but cutting the riveted ring off came up a treat! Super tidy!
Thanks! Haha yeah I’ve always wanted to cut the riveted chainring off 😆 I’ve talked about it with mates before and this was the perfect opportunity to do it, it worked a treat!
I’m sure it could be done cleaner, but the more material you take off the weaker it will get so I decided to leave it as it is 👍
Nice video. Ingenious use of piping for cheap spacers!
Cheers! Haha yeah it saves a bunch 👌
Very nice! Looks like fun. The end result is so clean.
It’s so fun 🤩 rides beautifully, responsive and comfortable too 👌 thanks! It is, especially without the chain tensioner!
@@toastyrides definitely. Always looks better without the tensioner
Looks ace, those orange forks really make the the whole bike pop 👌
Nice build mate! Looks like a super fun bike to throw around and I bet that 853 frame rides beautifully! 👍😁
Thank you! Yeah it’s super fun 🤩 haha it does 👌 I mentioned in the video that the saddle was quite comfy, but I’m sure a lot of that has to do with the frame too 😎👍
Gotta love a quality steel frame 👌
Had great success with juintech cable hydraulic calipers, paired to road sti it really impressed...funnily enough that was also on a Jamis 👍
Oh sweet, that’s good to know thanks! 👌 haha funny that 😎👍
Love the old Jamis Dragon with Reynolds 853 tubing
Definitely makes for a great ride! Gotta love nice steel tubing ❤️
Mantap pak SEPEDAH nya...👍👍👍
Awesome. I love this stuff. It's versatile af that 26" mountain bikes have ~350mm clearance from dropouts to crown/brake bridge, which is more than road bikes, so they can run 700c wheels with tires up to 35. Versatile af.
Thank you 😁 so versatile!! ❤️ gotta love them, so many different ways to build them up 🤤
I have a reynolds 853 (mtb) frame built here in the states in 1990. Turned it into a 1x7 bmx-ish cruiser, 2.2" tires (road style), paint (emerald green) job was nice & still looks 👌. So comfy it's my daily driver now. Cheers! 🍻
It’s great watching you vlogs I’m going to build a single speed HT for simplicity
Thanks! Should be fun and will definitely be nice and simplistic 👌 gotta love the ease of maintenance and setup with a Singlespeed!
Handsome bike bro👍
Cracking build 👌🏼
Very cool, Nice bike. I think that it's a real play bike
Thanks! It is 😍🥳 it’s fun!
eating right now. thanks, something to watch.
👌👌👌
Oh cool, thanks for checking it out Arphy!! 😄❤️ hope it entertains ya 🤙
Lovely Bike! I want it! :)
Very cool bike!
Thanks!! 🤙
Great job 👍🏼🍻🇬🇧
Very nice steel frame!! Steel is real! You scored!
BB7 mtn calipers are great, you need V levers though. The road version isnt as powerful. Get at least a 180mm rotor. Ive been using the same 3 BB7s since they 1st came on the market in the late '90s. You can rebuild them!
gorgeous!
Another tip is to buy a full half link chain and then use it for the half link masters. For the price of 3-4 masters you can buy a full chain and have all the links you'll ever need.
Definitely! Works out way cheaper 👌 3/32 half link chains were pretty expensive and far away at the time 😣
I have a heap of 1/8” half links kicking around though 😎👌
Really nice bike. 👍
Thanks! 😎❤️
We’ll done. Cheers from central Cali…
Ride slow, die whenever. Nice job. Good idea thx for video.
hey man big fan of the show.. would love to see you build up a old retro bmx that would be sweet az
Thanks! 🤙 When I get my hands on one I’ll be sure to film it!
I have a 2007 dragon pro. I use a salsa seat post clamp. It fit perfectly.
I wish I hadn't sold my triple butted kona project two years ago. The ride quality was great for a steel fork.
Damn, yeah they’re quite a sought after steel fork but there might be another in your future 😎🤞
i love you mr toasty rides
Since I’ve gone to 4 pot deore with ceramic pistons I’ve not had a busted seal, I’ve even bought used for a second bike and have had that running about 2 years.
This is a way way way BETTER build than old MTBs rebuilt as gravel bikes with drop bars...nice view...nice day for a bike ride...I just love the simplicity of a single speed bike! Just pedal and go...not bothered by gear ratios! LOLs :) Cheers!
Nice - throw a 4” rise Cannondale cruiser bar on it for the win. (Don’t knock it until you try it)
I love the transformation! i just couldnt find the parts you bought and placed on the bike
Thanks! Oh I’ll write up a list this weekend and put it in the description 👍
Very nice.
Oooh man. Great bike 😭
great watch. thank you
Thanks! Glad you liked it 😎 more to come 🤙
Hello. Great idea and perfect implementation. Could you tell me again (because i can't understand exactly - I'm not native english). Do you use a wide chain and chainring (single speed) or narrow (8 speed)?
Hey! I used a 3/32 (narrow, 8 speed) chain on this, with 3/32 chainring and cog 🤙 this sized chainring from Surly works best with a 5-8speed chain (according to them) 👌
I do use wide chains on Singlespeed, too, just not this time
@@toastyrides Thanks for your answer. I am fun of wide chains. They are indestructible!
Очень интересно!
Awesome build, cheers! - What's the local bike forum you mentioned?? - Local Akl rider keen to get amongst
Thanks! 🤟 it’s on Facebook called “classic, retro, old or shit mountain bikes” it’s largely kiwi people in the retro mtb scene.
There was going to be a cheap bike challenge in Auckland before lockdown started, so looks like it’ll have to be after. Whenever that is 😣 haha

I have an 18" Voodoo Hoodoo that I set up with 27.5 I could squeeze in if I used an iKon on the rear but I could never get comfortable with it. With 26" it was okay but 27.5 the saddle height was weird.
Oo nice bike! 👌 Yeah it definitely raises the bike up a bit, something to keep in mind!
Cool...ty.
Thanks!
what size bottom bracket do you use?
Can you put a rigid fork where a bike once had a front shock? Thank you
Yes. Just use a fork that's a slightly bit shorter axle to crown. The same as the suspension fork minus the sag. eg. 470axle to crown-20-30 sag=440-450mm a-c fork.
@@paulg666 thank you 🙏. There are good values to be found for 1990s bikes in my area
What are the magic bolts at 13:32 please
After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working czcams.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.
Look online or take it to a bike shop.
🤯😻👍🏼

The guitar song around 8:20, what is it??? Thanks to anyone who can answer
It’s a royalty free track from bensound.com called “tomorrow”
@@toastyrides thank you, sir!
