The forest covers 12.5 hectares and has 186 plant species, making it an ecological refuge for the monkeys, which are separated into ten distinct groups. This natural jewel also includes three ancient Hindu temples from around 1350 AD, which play an important part in the community's spiritual life. The Monkey Forest, which is managed by the village, combines spiritual harmony with a mission of conservation and education, as well as offering visitors with a rare opportunity to view monkeys and experience Balinese culture firsthand.
