  • To celebrate the start of Black History Month, I wanted to pay homage to the underrated thrash legends Hirax. So here's my cover of "Criminal Punishment," the closing track from the second full length album from the classic thrash metal band #hirax, 'Hate, Fear and Power,' released through Metal Blade Records in 1986. I learned it by ear and played it in one take. Enjoy!

Damn that was horrible all you did was play one power cord.. you wasted all that money on all that equipment just to record yourself playing one power cord that's a great accomplishment you have

Thanks for watching! A lot of classic tracks from bands like Hirax and other pioneering thrash bands are known for that style. Simple and fast. Sometimes I assume they wrote riffs like that because they were just starting and didn’t know or care to do anything else. If you want to see me use all the techniques you’ve heard of and probably more and on the same guitar, listen to my band Ghost Spawn. That way you can reconsider your perception of what one actually does outside of a single video.
