- I've had this toilet before it was available for sale and have had relatively few problems with it. it's the best 1.28 gpf toilet I've used. she of my blog readers have reported issues with the American Standard Vormax Toilet constantly running and I address some of those issues.
my initial review

Thank you so much for your video! Our toilet was running and I was so sad because we've had a few things break around the house lately and I thought "Oh no, another problem!". Thanks to your super helpful video, I was able to easily fix this myself! Thank you so so much!!!!!! ❤

Thank you. I was about to purchase replacement parts on Amazon but came across your video. I contacted American Standard and they're sending me replacement parts for free for both of my toilets that I installed back in Nov 2018. Toilet is warranted for 10 years. I did register on American Standard but they didn't ask for that info. Explained to them what I did to try to fix it but was unsuccessful. Customer Rep immediately asked me for my shipping address. No hassle whatsoever.
Glad I could help. I've always had good customer service from American Standard.
I’m so glad I just researched this! I’ve been having difficulties with both of mine. Hopefully I can find the right telephone # for American Standard to and get the same excellent care and results. We did a full remodel in 2019. I also love these toilets but the constant refilling is ridiculous! 🤦🏼♀️

The issue isn't the teeter bar it's that the silicone flappers get blisters/air pockets that fill with water and cause them to not seal good. The blisters create the opening which has nothing to do with the teeter bar. The toilet would be a perfect one if not for the flappers blistering.
Good info
The teeter bar was my issue. Newer ones must have had the new one preinstalled. I haven't had the issue with the float getting stuck since replacing it. My diapers lasted for years before I needed to replace them.
@TomBuildsStuff you should really change your diapers more often than that.
After replacing the 2 silicone flaps, mine still runs. It isn't always just the flaps.

I've never had that problem as described with mine (and I have the exact same toilet). Never had a stuck flapper, so maybe they did engineer that out with the production models, since you said apparently had a "pre-production" model. I am currently experiencing a slow leak. Tried washing the silicon flappers with soap and water thinking it could just be the build-up of "gunk" over the course of the last several years I've had this thing. It helped (the leak is much slower), but it sill leaks. Guess will just have to replace the silicon flapper seals.
Did replacing the silicone flappers help?
@@TomBuildsStuff Yeah, I ended having to order the replacement flappers off of Amazon (none of the "home improvement" or "hardware stores" had any in stock, so off to Ye ol' Amazon). After replacement, and everything is now good. No more leaks. One thing I did notice. After I replaced the flappers and more close inspection, I noticed there were just a couple of small "bubbles" in the old flappers that prevented them from properly sealing. I "lanced" the bubbles with a sewing needle and they disappeared where you could not even tell if anything was wrong, so it makes me wonder if I could've used the old ones again after that and saved the nearly $25 I paid for there replacements. I was tempted to put them back and see, but did not bother. I guess if this happens again, I will try that before ordering new ones.

Thank you. My problem has been the red flapper closing too soon and therefore not completely flushing. I see your model is different than mine - the red flapper has a chain connecting the float part, mine has a 3 inch (or so) plastic bar connecting the flapper. The toilet we have is the 2nd one - the first was under warranty. This one worked fine until it didn't. Any insights?
I have three of these toilets. I had the issue with just one. One flapper occasionally gets tangled up with the other when it cannot close causing the toilet to run and run. It doesn't happen often. Sometimes a handle jiggle will work and other times I have to remove the tank lid and manually untangle to chains so the flappers will close. It has the red toggle bar not the black. The other two identical toilets do not seem to have the issue.
This is the exact problem I was having except juggling the handle rarely fixed it. It was very infrequent but it hasn't happened since I made this video replacing the teeter bar.
@@TomBuildsStuff I called American Standard Tech Support. They walked me through several steps to test the functionality. They determined that there was an internal leak in the toilet, a known defect. So they sent me an entire new toilet base, free of charge. I replaced the old toilet with the new base and it has worked perfectly!

I really don’t see the point in 2 flappers. Seems like just more things that can go wrong but 🤷🏻♂️
Agreed but I didn’t do any research on that when I bought these toilets. I just like the way they looked and trust me, I had no idea how difficult it was to look, compare and shop for 2 toilets!!!!! 😳😵💫🤪 Yes, I’m a woman 😆😆😆
I think the more water you get from the tank to the bowl faster the stronger the flush. Some do it by making the flush valve bigger but there's only so big it can get without making the tank deeper. I think by putting in 2 valves you increase the flush valve opening size without having to have one big valve. It works great though.

I know nothing about these toilets. House I bought has one. Flappers seem to work when flushed. But when lid in place flappers are open because toilet runs and tank never fills. Any suggestions?

I bought these 2 of these toilets in October, but couldn’t get them installed for about 3 weeks. Now, it is running constantly…..I am disabled, I can’t fix it. Now scared to death the other is going to start. 😢😢😢
