Sword of Darkness absorbed evil energy. Not to mention Green Rangers shield on his chest can also absorb energy. Thus, Ryu would have a huge disadvantage! Projectile based attacks are useless against the Green Ranger. Again POWER RANGERS WAS A CHEESY 90'S KIDS SHOW. Don't judge by what you see in the show, that was obviously targeted for kids of a very young age. Just take their abilities and put it in a Serious light and all of you people will realize that Power Ranger's can literally take on almost anything. What part of Cosmic Powered Beings do y'all not understand? Then here it is not just the Green Ranger but the "Evil Green Ranger", ie he will not hesitate to destroy his opponent, human or not.
Let's be clear, I am a fan of Street Fighter, Ryu, Akuma (Gouki) etc. but as soon as Ryu began using the Satsui no Hado in combination with the Hadoken, he had already lost. Some say that the power rangers lack experience in fighting with bare hands, you forget that the Power Rangers confront monsters and other abominations that seek only to invade or destroy the planet. In terms of experience and strength, the Power Rangers are to be taken seriously.

Vege971 -- Exactly. I think people forget just how strong the Power Rangers are as civilians. They're technically super heroes. Their powers and abilities don't stop just because they're "unmorphed". You factor in that Tommy as the Green Ranger is quite arguably the strongest Power Ranger ever, than it's not hard to see how he could go toe to toe with Ryu.

Loved your reaction to the video. I grew up watching power rangers so I was rooting for Tommy, but I think this fight could have been a toss up. In the show, the Sword of Darkness amplified Tommy's power and if I'm not mistaken could absorb evil power and become more powerful. So if Ryu were to stay "good" and not turn evil he'd have a better chance at winning. Loved it either way.
that's not just any sword that's the evil sword of darkness not to mention when a ranger is morphed they become extremely powerful their strength agility and endurance r all enhanced

There was no "Tatsumaki Sempukyaku" or hurricane kick in the Beatdown but right as Tyrone mentioned it, the Green Ranger pulled off a similar move in the video lol

They had to make Green Ranger win lol. 1. that suit probably cost a lot to make. 2. Jason David Frank dont work for free. and 3. He had to promote that new Power Rangers movie lol

Tyrone Magnus That was basically a Jason Frank commercial. They've been working with him for a long time with his online series. They also did a vs Scorpion one where, of course, the ranger won. There's no way the ranger will lose as long as they are working with Jason Frank. It would be like firing your star player.

I may have missed a million and one comments pointing this out and am too lazy to check lol but the guy taking his mask off at the start who raises Ryu's hand played Vega in the Van Damme Streetfighter movie.

For me, this match could've gone either way. would've loved to have seen some research done to it like on Death Battle instead of voting, but, hey, always good to see JDF in action. Choreography was awesome in the showdown. That being said, with Joker and Harley Quinn going against Deadpool and Domino, who do you think would have the edge?

Im a huge huge fan of Power Rangers from old to new seasons. Just bought a MMPR shirt yesterday as well! If they want unknowns for their upcoming big movie I will definitely audition. Jason David Frank is a bad ass, knew he would win from the start.

Well to be fair it was a back and fourth feud between them, both with good points but they're still both great guys. I didn't support the fan film either it was terrible lol not everyone is going to like its over the top rated R style. The last one is a bit over thought, all he said was "Come on man, not a good image for the franchise" which is true. Medina was not only just a red ranger but he reprised his role many times and came back for Power Rangers Samurai so he was pretty big in the franchise. If you know JDF you would know he really really LOVES the show and his character. I respect him for his loyalty to the fans and his role. There are worse people out there, JDF is not really a bad guy at all. We all make mistakes but I don't think he deserves any heat for anything.
***** I still think its a bit over reacting lol they disliked each other on set, we all have certain people we dont get along with. Plus JDF has done alot for fans, attending so many events compared to other past rangers. It's more like honor to JDF, he is passionate about fighting so he feels like no one should boast about fighting, sure it was in the past but it happens. We all have our enemies.
If powers were prohibited, I'd say Ryu has a strong chance of winning. WIth powers, no question green ranger would win. Flash back to the first season of mmpr....he took on the whole team of rangers and beat them easily. Also only ranger I know to single handedly defeat a megazord on his own without a zord. They didn't show it but he can also deflect energy blasts back at his opponent with his dragon dagger/dragon shield, which they also depicted on the first season of mmpr

Epic QQ. Why be butt hurt because an 8 bit chump street fighter character from an ancient video game got beatdown by a cosmic powered super hero? Ryu fights dudes one on one in back alleys. Green Ranger fought all 4 power rangers at the same time and brought them to their knees. Ryu freezes in Green Ranger's shadow. He needs to get is corpse autographed for the privilege of taking up 5 minutes of his time.

Actually I’ve read the power rangers are actually very powerful even without there weapons but I do also love ryu as well
Tommy as the Green Ranger is the most powerful Ranger to have ever existed (I believe this is canon). The Green Power Ranger energy was created by evil magic. It gave Tommy powers and abilities that no other Ranger had. The Sword of Darkness and the Dragon Dagger can absorb tremendous amounts of energy and re-direct it back. Even when Tommy was "purified", he was still light years ahead of everyone else. He only got weaker because his energy source was destroyed.
I think Zeo Red Ranger #5 (Another Tommy Power Ranger character) and Zeo Gold Ranger (Jason, the original Red Ranger) are tied for being the second strongest Power Rangers. That just goes to show how strong the Green Dragon Ranger really is.

Ryu should've won. I saw Power Rangers a lot as a kid, but Ryu's Metsu Shoryuken can dislodge a mountain, I'm sure he could take down a zord with a few of them. Also, JDF is awesome, he's a pro MMA fighter now.

I believe Ryu should have won the fight against Green Ranger. Ryu is raw power untapped and still untapped as that Tommy has to use that PR armor.....the modified suit wad overrated. It was mostly one sided to let JDF win the first fight

Kameron Sq. -- It's the Sword of Darkness. Tommy as the Evil Green Ranger (which it looks like he is here) is the strongest Power Ranger to have ever existed. He easily beat 5 Power Rangers at one time. The Sword of Darkness, the Dragon Dagger, and the Dragon Shield (his gold armor) can all absorb tremendous amounts of energy and re-direct it back. Also... Tommy was able to stop the Rangers Megazord all by himself, and the Megazord is technically a God.
