About Cole & Charisma:
Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma CZcams channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about inclusion and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!
My spouse is black and I am white. I got fired for dating him over 33 years ago. We were y’all’s age. We moved from Texas to California in 1993, so I understand exactly what you are talking about California being your comfort zone. Then in 2003 we moved to Chester VA. I was so nervous about moving back to the “South” because this time we had our sons with us. I have to say nothing or no one ever treated us negatively. I am so sorry you were mistreated while visiting VA. We have temporarily moved back to Texas and nothing has happened so far but we always have our guard up.
Cole I remember your accident being on the local news. I am so glad your life with Charisma has been such a blessing. I love following y’all’s journey and pray for only the best!
It breaks my heart that we are still dealing with racism in this day and age. Charisma and Cole, you are very special people. Continue to educate, but keep yourself safe. Don’t engage with stupid people; they aren’t worth your time and energy.

As a Black girl who grew up in Napa, CA, I feel your pain Charisma. I too had those same horrible encounters and some much worse. I also live in LA now and feel so much more accepted and do not have those issues anymore. I’m glad you got out of VA and found a city that loves and accepts us ❤️

In this case we had no choice but to engage because otherwise I literally couldn’t have gotten out of the vehicle, and when we confronted him inside there was a police officer actively listening to our conversation. We’re definitely mindful of ourselves after incidents in the past though, so we’re always careful. We appreciate your concern!

I just bought a property in Petersburg and I was educated about Colonial heights. You can definitely see the difference between the two towns and it’s sad. They definitely need to bring more business to Petersburg. It’s a predominantly black town and you can see the disparity.

So many white people deal with racism in Africa even in USA . Racism is bad.
My husband is white, and he is older. For some people, it can cause stress. You definitely have to know who you are within an interracial relationship, ESPECIALLY when it's a black woman with a white man. I have some stories I could tell. Not so much with a black man and a white woman. Sadly, people are ignorant.

My husband and I are in an interracial marriage (black lady/white man), and have been married for almost 25 years. We are a couple in our 60’s, and have been 25:49 fortunate and grateful to say that in all of the neighborhoods we purchased homes during our marriage we have had wonderful neighbors who treated us with respect. We are too scared to move again because we love our current neighbors and wouldn’t want to be in a place where the neighbors didn’t respect us as an interracial couple. We feel blessed.
Charisma I have lived in Virginia my entire life and was raised to treat everyone with love and kindness. I have a neighbor in Powhatan, who treats me differently because we are very different in build and skin color. Sadly, I believe she is very jealous that I am everything she isn’t and it makes me sad she’s so unhappy and insecure with who she is. It breaks my heart that no one has ever told her she matters and she’s enough just the way she is. I wrote her a letter once and left it anonymously on her car to tell her just how special she is and I wanted her to know that. I pray it made a difference for her. No matter how badly someone may treat me, I try to always remember they have a story and that we all have bad moments.
Hopefully confronting that man will make him stop and think in the future before he parks incorrectly.
It would be great if their interaction with the ignorant man changes him. However, people like him normally do not change.
Sorry you have to deal with these issues in this day and age. You and Cole were meant for each other, him and his family have no issues about your colour as you all love one another. I had an individual who works at a store, called SMART AND FINAL on the corner of Venice and Clarington. She’s an assistant manager of the store. One day I was in line checking out with my groceries and out of nowhere for no reason whatsoever she decides to walk up to myself while I’m checking out on the side where the cashier stands because the cashier and I have a conversation about the 80s and 90s.. and hell a program called soul train back in the day was very popular and how I grew up watching soul train American bandstand and other programs that were on back in the day like Laverne and Shirley happy days Charles in charge full house, and so forth. And out of nowhere, she says, and I quote. What do you know about soul train your not from the same tribe. And I threw some major shade at her to the point where her not only did she feel humiliated for saying what she did, because she was being racist at the moment, but the cashier it was laughing because of how obnoxious and rude and races she was being.. I also reported her to the corporate office of the store, as well as the head store manager. His name is David and I can assure you she never addressed me in the same way again.. and I have never had that happen to me before and that way from one black woman to a white woman ever that’s a first for me. So I don’t blame you at all in any way,shape or form for wanting to confront the individual and for making him feel ashamed of his behavior

It drives me nuts when people are in the hash marks and I’m not even in a chair. I have got other things going on. I’ve been a caregiver in the past and have experienced the issue from that perspective.
My dad has always made it a point to call out people when they illegally park in ADA parking stalls. It embarrassed me as a teen but Ive realized its important for everyone to speak up. That way you both don't carry the burden of having to interact with potentially dangerous people. Cause lets be honest, the folk's that park there or over the access aisles (that is how the International Building Code identifies the hatch marks) are not the most empathetic people. Hopefully more people (non disabled) can help change the culture by speaking up.
I really love that you guys stand up for yourselves. Of course it can be difficult, frustrating and sometimes scary, but if you don't do it, nothing will change.

It's so unfortunate racism is still such a thing as a black women I definitely understand what you're talking about I'm from Alabama delt with it all my life moved to California thirteen years ago for work and it's racism here racism is everywhere but far less experienced out here than in the south people really show their ignorance and it's sad because deep down their really misreable people in general.

My partner drives and he has a wheelchair lock thing so the car seat is gone. We left a restaurant and someone was suuuuper in the marks. He just looked at me and said “you gotta drive”. I had to drive the car out of the spot STANDING UP USING HAND CONTROLS . It did not feel right at ALL. 😂

I think your both amazing people! I absolutely love the the way you love and respect each other. I have rheumatoid arthritis in my legs and sometimes I can barely walk. It’s not constant but humid weather bothers me most. There was one day where I parked in the handicap spot. Legally, I have a handicap tag, and this lady beeped at me and begged me to please move my car because she was severely handicapped, and could not find any other spot. I was in a lot of pain that day and could barely stand on my legs, but I move my car because she kept sitting there and yelling at me and I didn’t wanna deal with it. I parked my car somewhere else walked up to the store in so much pain I had tears in my eyes and I watched her get out of her car and run to the store. Never again did I make such a stupid decision. Since I started watching your videos over a year ago, I’ve noticed a lot of things out in the public that are not accessible for handicap people and I have said something about it. Thank you for sharing your videos with us

IMO, racism is just pure stupidity and shows extreme lack of education and class. I grew up in FL with an extremely racist & hateful grandmother, but from my earliest memory, listening to her talk, I knew her opinions and thought process was totally evil and absolutely wrong. I'm so grateful for having that truth in my soul.

I went to get my doctrine degree as a nurse practitioner online and my favorite collaborating friend was African American. We became best of friends. I am a new Subscriber so I didn’t know you guys are from VA. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and chances are I will die here also. It’s definitely a much different place than it was from my childhood but I’ve got deep roots.

Im so sorry you all had to go through that im glad you all are doing well i will say a prayer for you all and him as well you all are great people and inspiring to all of us thank you for sharing your story and life with us im in Kentucky not sure how far from you all I am but just know people are learning so much from you all over the world prayers for everyone hopefully things will change i love everyone and respect everyone we all should be kind and stay positive i know it can be hard sometimes but love and kindness can change the world ❤
