I hate I was too young to understand this show in the 80's now that I'm grown I'd love to see entire series.
The early episodes of Falcon Crest (Seasons 1-3) reminds me of “Gone With the Wind,” Italian-style! Melissa is Scarlett O’Hara; Lance is Rhett Butler; Cole is Ashley Wilkes, and Linda Caproni is Melanie Wilkes. The 1980s instead of the Civil War.
Adding Richard Channing as a major character, was the shot in the arm that Falcon Crest needed to really pick up steam and really interesting. Lana Turner should have been another addition to the cast. Jacqueline Perrault was a really great character.
Richard and Angela FTW! I watched it solely for these two. XD

Anyone who watched Falcon Crest knows that Season 2 was the best. The schemeing and plotting was outrageous with Angela, Richard, Melissa, Lance and even a little from Jacqueline. But the height of the storyline that season was the murder investigation of Carlo Agretti. I remember almost 30 yrs ago watching that infamous episode when Julia was revealed as the murder and seeing that coffin being lowered into the ground. One of the best cliffhangers of all time.
Shaw Sway yes Melissa and Cole, where fantastic together, with Lance try to break them up, Richard and Angela, power struggle.
I think 3 was the best. 2 was close, but the show hadn’t quite found its footing. I’ll give you that the 2nd season finale was amazing and probably the best in prime time soap history.
I lived for the Season Finale. I was born in 1966 so I had no idea who Lana Turner was but then My Parents told me about "Imitation Of Life" the "It" Movie For The African American Community in 1959. She was brilliant.
Season 2 and 3 were the best seasons I love Abby Dalton as Julia
Lance & Melissa really thought they'd be the Powercouple and dethrone Angela, boy what a major slice of Humble Pie they got. Also Melissa needed Lance to stay in the Family and the Agretti Vineyards would still be used, and Lance lived with Lori Stevens for less than a week before she kicked him to The Curb because he couldn't handle not having The Falcon Crest Job, Status, Power and most of all Money.
Oh here's another fun fact. Barbara Stanwyck was considered for the role of Angela Channing but she recommended Jane Wyman. Jane won a Golden Globe I believe and of course Barbara won a Emmy for The Thorn Birds. However Jane would win an Oscar.

Miami Vice and Falcon Crest made Friday nights back in the day however Miami Vice starred Don Johnson who's look and suave charisma

@MrAwake2me David Selby was incredible on Falcon Crest, garnering six nominations for Soap Opera Digest Awards and winning one as Outstanding Lead Actor. His character, Richard Channing, was a bastard (literally and figuratively). Selby played him with such nuanced complexity and wit, though, that he could readily blend villainy with vulnerability and even valor. This made for great television.

I wonder if Angela Channing was the inspiration for Mary Carson in The Thorn Birds. Remember she went on about how Drogheda was "hers" and only "hers" and how wise it was to remember that.
I think that Lorenzo Lamas holds the Record for being on every Single Episode. Kind of like the UK Series Bad Girls where Victoria Alcock and Kika Myriless played The Two Julies in every Episode for about Eight Years.
Never watched the show, but I might start watching because DAVID SELBY is the MAN!
Good season - think I need to buy the set on DVD and enjoy it again!

Big mistake to get rid of lana turner as Jacqueline P
Yes but Jane Wyman made it clear that there was only Room for "One Legend" on The Show. I heard that they were at each other's throats and that Lana Turner had problems with her lines. I read her Daughter's Bio Detour and what a sad life she had. Her Mother had multiple marriages, Cheryl took the blame for a murder that she didn't commit. The only thing that Lana did that I admired was that she accepted her Daughter's "Alternative Lifestyle".
Chase and Maggie had marriage problems, like Angela and Douglas had, and everyone else in the series. But when they killed off Chase, they didn't "invent" an unknown child of Chase, or even an unknown sibling of Chase. Or even an unknown sibling of Angela and Jason.
With Jason's alcoholism it wouldn've been fair to believe that Jacqueline would've seeked comfort at another man. Or that Jason would've fooled around with another lady, which the offspring would've been heir to Falcon Crest too.
And when they wrote in NIcole Sauget (after Chase was presumed dead), why didn't they make her have an unknown lovechild with Chase?
To me that's one of the very worse things the writers did, to "erase" Jason's side of the family for the rest of the series. Yes Maggie stayed on for a while, and Vickie visited, but just as a guest. And she had no kids? Would've been logic that she had at least one, with Eric Stavros.
