Manon betrays Des Grieux with a rich bankier, who is kidnapped home by his brother and father. After months of grieving and thoughts of revenge Des Grieux enter in convent of St. Sulpice to become priest. After his public speech suddenly Manon stands in before him.

A thousand times thank you for posting this entire series -- I was a high school student when this was on French TV in 1978, something which even translated would never have come to America, and this beautifully costumed, attentively scene-set production is sublime -- I'd already read English translations of the Prevost novel and loved both the Massenet and Puccini operas & collected their recordings -- this is a dream come true to see such a lavish production, so true to the book, and with such young, stunningly attractive actors portraying the protagonists who really were only in their mid-late teens, instead of the portly middle-aged opera singers everyone usually saw on stage or on TV. I wish there was some Region 1 dvd available of this television production or at least it remains on You Tube!
