I spent hours and hours on CZcams and I found your channel …It’s funny no one talks much about the grip I finally figured thanks to you guys… The lightbulb has come on after watching your videos!

Love it man! Really glad you found our content helpful. It's crazy to us that more people aren't talking about the grip! Hopefully we start shifting the industry bc it's helping a ton of people.

Very sensible. Too many 'teachers' will not showcase THEIR skills except for a few short game pops. If you can play well, it shows. Of course, one must nearly play daily on great courses to get into Plus handicap. It is a very big commitment and going from scratch or -2 to + 3 or 4 is mostly not screwing up, no three putts, and bombing it. You play a game that confirms your cred as an instructor.

Thanks Jacques! It's def a bit scary when you don't get to play a lot and then jump in front of the camera and showcase your game to the world lol. However, if you are a good coach you should be able to back it up with your game. Wish I could have made a few more putts in this round but I'm happy with how the game held up. Appreciate the kind words! Hope you enjoy the other content on the channel.

Actually, it wasn't just your putting! I am going to be presumptuous, as this is not my channel (in process). But as a fellow fixer-of-crude-golf movements myself, may I suggest a thing or three that all golfers should hear at least once in their miserable careers:): a) show yourself cleaning the wedge face, as you were in dewy/wet conditions. 2) recommend the proper ball for scoring purposes (I use premium 3-piece, urethane balls, cheapest Kirkland and MaxfliTour, mid-price ProV1 used balls in mint or near mint, and all the other premium balls, incl ProV1, Bridgestone, even Callaway and of course, TP5. 3) in your case, you feature the claw, so perhaps you can zoom in on your swings showing a driver, an approach, and a chip/pitch. Helpful. and 4) You do have a lovely swing, graceful and consistent. BUT, swing/claw/ball or not, please mention the ground angle, that is, whether it the ground is flat, tilted and so on. On two of your pitches (which were perfectly executed) you did not seem to adapt your feet/swing - however you characterize it) to the slant of the lie. Not being aware of that causes pulls, fat-ish (thick) shots, and even mishits toward the toe or the heel. Not fun!
It takes guts to play a round after a long layoff and you did very well! Impressed. As I said (I am in San Francisco) the largest part of the golf instructors (so called) are terrible and even 'teach' old, discredited nonsense that only worked (sort of) in the Balata/wooden head driver/one wedge era.
I look forward to other half-rounds. PS You might be more consistent of mentioning drive distance, since in Michigan you might have weather and wind issues and we would like to know how you prefer to play under those conditions.
      Jacques

This is the first time I have seen your video, it popped up on my feed and I'm excited for what's to come. Going out first thing in the morning, playing a round shooting 4 over, for someone who said they haven't been playing that much is amazing alone. You definitely have the personality of someone who can blow up on CZcams golf. Heres to those future videos with Rick Shiels !

How did you become a teaching pro? I was looking at being an instructor. Everywhere wants you to have your pga apprentice or member. How did you get hired thanks.

I was a PGA apprentice for a couple of years while working my way up in the industry at various clubs. Then, I got a job at the industry leader for Golf Instruction (GOLFTEC), and that really propelled my career and knowledge of the golf swing. I would say start working at a course, create content online, and use that as your credibility to maybe start teaching some lessons at the course you work at. You don't have to be PGA to be a successful golf instructor in today's day and age.
