Anyway, it's sound ok in Chinese, maybe this is a pronunciation from some other dialect and it's a person name but not when pronounced in English's characters.
She thought the name is funny because it applies to a take away restaurant. To those who do not understand chinese, will see it as soon fat. It's like if you eat here, you will soon be fat. Kind of like the name does very well applying to eateries. very honest.
I have seen the name for life but never seen them the way she did until I watched the show. Hope the restaurant become popular now.
Lee Lin Jun Haha. Never get to see those funny name but I guess using the actual pronunciation is a bad idea. It will become laughing stock to non-Cantonese speaker as they do not know the actual meaning. I think direct translation works much better in such cases. Since it's English name, it should be understandable to English speaker. Like I think a lot of Malaysian hotels and restaurants has done well with it. Like Dynasty, Imperial, Boulevard, Empire, Grand Palace even something like Lucky restaurant sounds good. I am from Borneo island so I only knew those but I think they did good. Thanks for the sharing anyway!
