This was wonderful. Your stenciling technique opened my eyes to so many possibilities. Thanks, Erin.
I’m glad to hear that Susie. Stencils are really neat for layering.
your creativity amazes me! Thanks for the inspiration Erin!
You are so welcome! I loved how this one turned out with our sweet kitty boy in the photos.
Such a cute layout! We have the same rule with our cat in our house! (if he is in your lap)! Love the cards too!
Haha, it's a good rule especially for the cats!
Hahaha the comment about using your scissors to cut your bangs. Since lockdown in Toronto, Canada, we've been using my craft scissors to cut our son's hair ;) Love the idea of storing the stencils by hanging them! Thank you!
So funny! I can do bangs but don’t think I’d brave cutting my boys hair.
@@CraftyConceptswithErin haha we weren't at first, but our hair salons have been closed for almost a year (minus about 6 weeks last summer when restrictions eased), so we had to take the plunge. He did look like a member of The Beatles once, but otherwise, it's been okay hahaha
So cute! Love the story, The cards are very nice. Great way to use my label maker. I will keep that in mind. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate having a smaller label maker to take to crops.
This is such a fun layout! Love Sir Thomas ... he’s my kind of cat!
Haha, thank you. He is a character!
Lol I do the same thing with my scissors. Love your layout.
Haha, glad to know I’m not alone!
Gorgeous layout
Thank you! The stenciling challenge was fun.
As always and awesome layout
Thank you, I’m glad you like it!
I had to laugh, I said to myself that you could save on the paper by cutting the center out, than you did. I thought, that looks like tire tracks, then you did! 😆 Love your kitty, and great idea using the label maker and printed strips, it balanced it out.
Oh that is funny! Great minds think alike, right? 😊
@@CraftyConceptswithErin yup!
Love this layout.
Thank you, I always love how stenciling looks. I should do more of it.
I really like this layout😀
Thank you!
I just found you channel and love your style! Am looking forward to many of your videos...Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! That’s good to hear and I’m so glad you discovered my channel.
Love it! Agree that one cannot get up if the cat is on your lap. In our house, the cat sits on my lap and sometimes if hubby doesn't want to get up and do something (make a drink etc) he'll grab a cushion or even a remote control and pretend to stroke the item saying I've got a cat too 😂😂.
Lol, that is so funny 🤣
This turned out so cute! I love how you mixed 2 stencils and the crown sticker cracked me up, it’s so perfect! I miss having kitties!
Thank you. He’s a good kitty boy. I’m glad he is tough with all the dogs we have!
Gorgeous
Thank you! I love the look of the layered stencils on this layout.
We have a lap cat and my son refuses to gently dislodge her. “Mimmie is on me” is his favorite excuse to not come do something. 😂
Haha, that is so funny, I love it!
I love this layout. I have a label maker and never thought to use it on my layouts. ❤️
Thank you! I felt like there was a time all my journaling was from my label maker. Now I use it primary at crops.
Love the bangs thing even more pertinent now with the pandemic
Also love this layout I am so inspired boy layouts are always a bit harder!
Haha thank you. Yes boy layout can be challenging for sure. Many of us feel that way.
OH MY GOODNESS! I love your page and those cards are gorgeous! And thank you for sharing the story of Sir Thomas!
Thank you! So glad you liked the projects! Sir Thomas is a character for sure.
I love how you store your stencils! That trick with the acetate for the tile was genius.
Thank you! Good way to try it out but still be able to change your mind
Great video. Love the way you saved paper but cutting out the center.
Thank you! I tend to be a paper hoarder, but I use it up eventually 😊
Love this! I haven't gone into scrapbooking yet, but you're tempting me. I'm a card maker and came here for the stencil technique. I'll be visiting often... Thanks!
Thank you Karen. I started scrapbooking and then got into card making as well. They seem to go hand-in-hand and the cards are a great way to use the leftovers from scrapbooking. You should definitely give it a go. My plan is to have one card making tutorial and one scrapbooking video every week. Thank you for checking out my channel!
OMGSH...LOVE those dark colors inked over those stencils! LOVE the fraying of the twine..there's nothing worse than skinny tag fringe...lol. WOW...your video is FULL of inspiration! LOVE the label maker tip (haven't even thought about using it for that) and using the Urban crown for the cat! LOVE the cards too...love the bricks!
Lol, skinny tag fringe 🤣!!! This was a great challenge. Love to put new tools in my toolbox!
I use the same Dymo lablemaker As you! I’ve had it for years!
It’s a handy little label maker! I have looked at newer ones but this one does the trick.
Love how you added your title, I'll need to remember that, thanks
Thank you, I often change my mind when it comes to the title. I tend to use that method frequently.
I love the layout and cards! Nice job, Erin!!!
Thank you, much appreciated! The stencil technique is definitely something I will repeat.
Cute project. Thanks for the storage idea.
Thank you!
Hahaha…yes!
In our house we call it canine or kitty paralysis…depending which animal is on us.
“Hey, honey, fill up my water bottle please…I have kitty 🐈⬛ paralysis!” 😂🤣
That is hilarious, I’m going to use that for sure 😂
Yep same cat rule in our house and I too have a couple of photos of my son and my daughter each trying to do homework on their computers and handicapped by a furry purrson ... I work from home, my workstation has THREE cat beds with electric pet blankets around so I have some chance of their not being on the keyboard ... it's not purrfect, always funny :-)
I didn’t even think about electric pet blankets. That is an excellent idea!
@@CraftyConceptswithErin Hi Erin, I have 3 cats = 3 pet blankets. One on a shelf that also houses my two large monitors, one on the printer, one on the credenza beside me. And then there's the miscellaneous ones THEY decide are "pet beds" (as I speak my floof Jerry lay down over my Fiskar paper trimmer and the paper I had on it ... guess it's a cat bed for the time being now!) gotta love life when it ticks all the boxes -cats, crafts and my computer!
Can you show your process on making the stencils and the material used
Hello there Christine, I should definitely do a tutorial including that part. For now, I have a design team friend that is a Cricut genius, here is a tutorial of hers you may find helpful. czcams.com/video/aqvxE7Vz7Pc/video.html
I love this layout! What material are your stencils made out of?
Thank you! I used the stencil film from CTMH. I’ve been having a lot of fun creating with stencils and love the added layering and texture element they can add erinjacobson.closetomyheart.com/retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=11447
Crafty Concepts with Erin I have an older Cricut machine, and Expressions 2. Does the stencil paper come with cutting settings information?
I don’t believe it does. I’ll have to check the packaging. I have a Cricut explore air 2 and set the dial to 1 click before poster board. I had to play around with it a bit but that worked for me.
Can you change the font on a label maker? Please share
Hello, the label maker I have is a very basic model. You can put into italics and a shadow effect but that is all.You can change the size too. I believe there are fancier versions available that have more options.
What material did you use to make stencils? Can I make it in an Explore Air?
Hello there, great question. I used the stencil film from Close to My Heart. I have the Explore Air 2 and it works great. As long as you machine communicates with Design Space it should work. I will link a video tutorial to my friends channel where she goes into the actual stencil cutting.
czcams.com/video/aqvxE7Vz7Pc/video.html hopefully this video will be helpful for you 😃
Hi Erin! What did you cut the stencils from? And what Cricut blade? Thanks!
Hello, I was using a stencil material from CTMH they unfortunately no longer carry. Some of my crafty friends purchased this stencil material from Amazon amzn.to/3V2skEB and said it worked well.
The Cricut blade refills I use are these amzn.to/3WNiFDc and I do recommend the fine point blade housing amzn.to/3UJGBF4
Where do you get to white craft plastic to make your stencils? I looked on Amazon and just found clear.
Hello Jamie, the stencils I used in this video were cut from material no longer available. CTMH used to carry stencil material but discontinued it. The particular one I order through Amazon I can no longer find. Sorry about that.
I'm confused by your title. I thought you were going to show us how to make stencils with a Cricut.
I’m sorry, I can see why you would think that. I will have to add that in my next tutorial featuring stencils. If you are familiar with Cricut basics you just need stencil material. Then you make your cuts in it rather than paper. You can use regular cardstock for stencils as well however it won’t last as long. What type of Cricut do you have?
Here’s a video tutorial from a good friend of mine showing how to cut stencils with your Cricut czcams.com/video/aqvxE7Vz7Pc/video.html
@@CraftyConceptswithErin Thank you! I have a Maker. I saw another video with a girl using those plastic index dividers, so I'm going to try that. I'll watch your video next.
@@CraftyConceptswithErin That video was super helpful, thanks again!
