Maddison's performance was terrible. His touch on the ball continued to be unstable and his trick to induce a penalty ended up losing possession of the ball to Arsenal, which led to their second goal.
As soon as the second half started, Ange should have taken out Maddison and put Lo Celso in.
Ange repeated the same mistake again, just like he did in the Newcastle game.
Madders is poor all year so far! He was supposed to be a leader of the club but just shocking performances from him!
He did the same for Leicester. Disappeared in several games. One of the reasons they were relegated. He is not consistent.

Seriously, start Romero instead of Hojberg and Bissouma. He is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder and he's simply a better footballer. He was occasionally given that "John Stones" role in Atalanta. This way, the team will have more stability in set pieces, with Dragusin playing as CB.

Son is world class and a cold finisher (no doubt!) but the no 9 position requires certain instincts (positioning in and around the opponents box, pressure on the opponents defence etc) that does not seem to come naturally to Son. Tough one for Pierre - finally starting a PL game and getting an OG. Romero just keeps getting better but I feel bad for Dragusin really - not quite getting minutes.
Ange, I agree with your position on VAR, but not very sure about the wisdom of being so outspoken about it - they may all claim to be professionals but I don't think anyone benefits from being on the bad side of officials. Also, maybe no more "we lost Harry Kane and his goals" - I think that ship has long sailed and you may now be unknowingly undermining the confidence and ability of your current players to step up and deliver. You are solid with the media so I am sure you can find other things to say.
All of the above, with a bit more heart and soul on the pitch (kind that Romero showed, not some unnecessary emotional talk before and after games), I believe we can beat any PL team #COYS

But my sense is that when he saw Three - Nil with the first half still unfinished ... He thought Naaah I'm not having any part of this ... Help yourself. If I do it'll be too obvious! VAR spent an age reviewing MVD's goal and didn't even look at Kulu being pushed over in the box or Vic being impeded consistently. WTF!? It's a totally different game when the rules are applied as they SHOULD across the park but Ange never coaches for or expects consistent decision making so no excuses.
If you watched the game live you would’ve seen that kulu literally clipped himself and fell, props to the ref.

Kulu tripped himself. Nothing was stopping any spurs player from getting in between White and Vicario on the corners. Frankly it’s the spurs’ players fault that vicario had to deal with white himself. There is no rule saying that an attacker can’t disturb the opposing keeper during corners.
How is that an offside when the ball hit 2 Arsenal defenders and get to VDV? Westham scored against us in the exact same way

ONLY pick players that play like romero - no complaining, taking the game into his own hands when things arent working, fights for every ball and runs their heart out. Kulusevski and bentancur falls into this category. And even before buying any players hire a real set piece coach. Bet paratici sees it the same way. And please pick players who can dribble.

Unpopular opinion from a Spurs fan, the ref was good. He allowed to play and didn't give a foul for nothing which I really liked and what is quite rare these days. Obviously, he could have given the penalty right away in Davies' case given how close he was but, overall, he was really good.

Ange🔥 Newcastle and Arsenal coaches won the game against us by changing their tactics to 5 back defense and counterattack instead of using their original tactics.
Do you think they've given up their tactical pride as football coaches?
Tuchel and Ancelotti also gave up some of their attacking tactics and used more defensive focused tactics in Champions league. And they won.
That's called flexibility !
They analyzed their opponents, attacking their weaknesses and stopping their advantages.
I think winning the games is much more important than keeping the tactical pride.
We cannot win in epl with just 1 tactic.
Your attackers are not scoring enough and your defenders are conceding too many goals in your high line tactics...

It looked like they didn't have much training in combination play, but it felt like they were just trying to create perfect chances and refrained from making bold plays. I hope Spurs make more plays where they rush into the opposing team's box like they did at the beginning of the season. Spurs players seemed to refrain from making plays that could put pressure on each other, perhaps because they experienced injuries during the season. If the pattern is like now, giving the opposing team enough time to prepare, scoring will be difficult. Spurs will need to create cracks in the opposition's defense through aggressive selection near the box.
one counter attack by the opponent and it results into conceding a goal, happened for a while now. how can the attackers play brave if they can't trust the defenders? early in the season all the players were instilled with confidence cuz van de ven's or udogie's superb tracking back and clearance ability but nowadays either they're injured or have poor performance. van de ven had his worst game vs newcastle (uncharacteristically got defeated by long balls) and udogie has been having a poor form for a while. bissouma also never beats the press with his turn anymore
Really so sad to loose this as Spurs played so well. A penalty not given and goal disallowed unfairly.

I know it's not what we wanted, and I know there were some heavy negatives in some regards, but that was some serious fighting spirit. Romero especially. I appreciated Ange leaning into that by chucking in yet another attacker to help us absolutely dominate the Gunners at the end - had Oliver not ended the game right on the money, we could have gotten another.

Cuti catching a chealsea player on the shin with the follow-through while getting the ball was a red, but rice kicking davies in the balls but not getting the ball is not.
It was a penalty but we cant say thats a red. You people make our fanbase look so bad. Rice had possession and was clearing the ball, unintentionally catching Davies who tried to dispossess Rice.

@@memestrous Rice did not have possesion at all. There have been numerous cases where our players get hit and they don't award anything. I remember a different game when Pape gave penalty for just TOUCHING the player in the penalty box when possession was 50/50.

All the players gave it their all. I don't want to blame our players. I'm just disappointed with Ange. I want to ask him what he has been doing for the last two weeks. The pattern of goals we concede is the same every time.
Two archetypes of players we should build the team around:
(1) the romero type:
- Fights for every ball, doesnt complain, takes matters into his own hands when things aren’t working out.
- Bentancur and kulusevski and udogie falls into this category.
- This archetype need to be in the majority.
(2) the vdv/johnson type:
- Bit timid but gives it all. Fully coys type.
- Vdv, johnson, sarr, werner, porro, vicario falls into this type.
- We have enough of this type.
(3) son/maddison type:
- the big names.
- Richarlison also falls into this category.
- We have enough of this type.
(4) (although unproven) bergwall type:
- someone who can take people on with a dribble and who is resistant to man to man marking.
- We neee more of this type.
Do the rebuild properly. We dont need to see davis and hobjberg passing useless passes to each other any more. And btw, saka was free everytime arsenal went forward - and it was davis/(and partly) hobjberg’s job to defend that side. Not to mention all their misplaced passes. And all the times vdv had no place to pass to. And hire a goddamn set piece coach.
