We had our 1st cruise there was a big storm with gale force winds and the temp went in F from 85,down to 64, 67, 72. then back up over 80. We had packed very light wind breakers at any rate in case it was windy at night and cooler on deck. On our first tender after the storm, when we wore the jackets, someone asked us if we were from Canada, and when we said yes, their comment was "I don't know anyone but a Canadian who would bring a jacket on a cruise going south of Florida."

As usual, a lot of good tips! Something else that I added this last European cruise that I went on a copule of weeks ago was a clothes line. It was a 9-night cruise with pre and post hotels, so it was hard to pack for so many days and my friend and I decided to do some laundry and wear again some pieces. We packed traveling Tide sink pouches and the clothes line from Amazon that even brought the clothes pins attached. We put it on the wall using the magnetic hooks and that was perfect. Of course we hanged the pieces of clothing on the shower and waited till they were not dripping water not to damage the carpet. We learn new things every day!

Thanks for all the travel tips. I do use packing cubes and swear by them. I take the cubes out of the suitcase and put it right in the drawers. That way you can organize your drawers without the contents actually touching the drawers. Makes for great organizing and you can see what you need. I always bring light weight bedroom slippers. I do not want to walk on those sandy carpets. Another thing I do is pack my evening clothes on a hanger and pack that right into my suitcase. That way it is much quicker to unpack and everything is already on a hanger. I do a lot of online buying and those plastic bags that garments come in are great for shoes. I do not want my shoes touching my clothing. As far as my toiletries go, I will bring full size especially body wash. But I usually bring toiletries that are almost empty. That way I have enough to get me through my cruise and I can throw the containers away when they are used up. Makes a lot of space for souvenirs. All this fits in a hard side 20 inch suitcase along with a soft side carry on. It can be done.😊😊😊😊

I tend to start planning my wardrobe when trying to get to sleep. This tends to cause many sleepless nightsđŸ€Ș. I learned the hard way about carrying a few items to wear when one time my luggage didn’t arrive for few days. I had to wear some of my hubby’s underwear and cargo shorts. I’m hoping to be offered a Level 8 suitcase to do a video on too. I always use cross-body bags on cruises. Feel safer with them. I just took a 7-day cruise to Alaska with 3 days before and 1 after in Seattle. An elderly relative traveling with us has continence issues, so we purchased an unlimited laundry package for $59. It was worth every penny- it allowed us to pack far fewer clothes and go home with almost no dirty laundry. In order to save on airline luggage fees, we ordered a case of her adult diapers and had it shipped to us at our hotel rather than packing them in a suitcase. At embarkation we just attached a luggage tag to the unopened box with packing tape. We also ordered toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and hairspray to save space in our luggage and to avoid carrying liquids through TSA. The manager at our hotel said that they have no problem with guests having items delivered to them.

I really love your videos! They have been extremely helpful. One of the things I’ve started to do is leave my hanging clothes on a very slim nonslip hanger. They take up a lot less room than the ones that come on the ship, so I am able to hang more. I usually can get a pack of 50 at Costco for about $12. When I get to the cabin I just take my clothes right out of the suitcase and hang them straight in the closet.

Some of my favorites that I have used for all my travels are the soap bags that don’t make your soap bars all mushy and the motion activated nightlight. And strong magnetic hooks were a game changer while cruising, and I use them at home on the side of the dryer and deep freezer for reusable grocery bags and soft plastics recycling.

Love using my Beis luggage, bags, and cubes especially for longer trips. They fit so much for all the options I bring cause I refuse to underpack. These days, I feel it’s really the packing techniques and the actual items brought that can make it easier or harder which of course depends on various factors. Last Caribbean cruise all the friends we made were shocked I was able to basically have a different outfit for each of the 11 nights in just 1 big checked luggage, 1 carry-on luggage, and a backpack.

Years ago I found a book “how to pack”. It discussed packing for different occasions. I found it before I spent a year in Europe with Girl Guides and packing in one adventure hiking back pack.
Your packing/what to bring and guide have helped me as I’ve started cruising again for the first time since I was a teen. A couple tips from it I still think about when packing.
Iron clothes before packing them, even tshirts, can take up less room.
Take items you don’t plan on bringing back with you. This allows for more space for souvenirs.
Last one my family uses different versions of, bottles of alcohol in socks or other similar tubes of clothing means you know for sure they are surrounded completely. Mum used her square dance crinoline in an old sleeve on the way there, the bottle of rum in it as well on the way home. Surprised the customs agent when he pulled it out and went poof.

One thing about magnets.. I’m sure most cruise cabins are fine, but I was just on HAL’s Zaandam last month, and the walls are covered in something (really thick wallpaper?) that prevented magnets from sticking. Well, they stuck, but if you put anything heavier than a post-it note, they would slide down the wall.
The cabin door was the same. We had to put the magnets on the door frame instead.
I will say the bathroom door worked great. I put my heavy duty magnets on there for clothes and towels and they worked. But the rest of the walls in the room did not work.

I'm going on a long (three-week, Panama Canal) solo cruise this October, and have my luggage planned out pretty well, already. Contents of both free checked large soft sided suitcases will be protected by enclosing all packed items in thin garbage bags. NCL only allows two checked bags, so I'll be stuck with a carry-on, and personal item, until I can unpack in my cabin. I plan to bring some of that spray stuff to take out wrinkles, along with a different spray thingy to allow me to get two days out of T-shirts. I "may" be able to get through the 21 days without having to pay $35 to get a small bag washed onboard. (I'll try to sink wash some items)

It’s quite resistant. My yellow one got a few small black scuffs from the airport but a magic eraser took it off. I’d consider a plastic luggage cover if you want to keep it looking like new & travelling by air 😂

If going to Snorkle/Scuba/Beach will need water shoes. For kids a must as they stay on unlike flip flobs and don't trash the sneakers.

Is it required to bring prescription meds in their original labeled bottles onto the ship? Or can you split those into a travel container? Or do they even check or care?
