    Being a medic in the National Guard I've found the 24 is about perfect for a drill weekend or AT. The size is perfect to be able to work out of while in the Humvees while not taking up too much space.

      Absolutely. It really is the perfect size. I have the 12 and the 72, another 24 is on its way to me now to replace this one I borrowed for the video. Thank you for stopping by. More importantly thank you for your service.

      I have a 12 bag I used in Afghanistan and in training. Was thinking of getting a 24 or 72 so I can better carry mission essential gear like radios and optics without having to sacrifice sustainment supplies for myself.

    Just purchased the 24 in the sandstone color and I have to say I'm very impressed. As a former Marine Corps Infantryman (Grunt) I can honestly believe this bag could pull its weight through several deployments and training exercises. Thank you for the review. You were a big part in my decision to drop the money on this bag.

  • @ObiWanCannolii
    @ObiWanCannolii Před 7 lety +2

    What an excellent review. The only downside to it I can POSSIBLY come up with is that you're probably from Boston and I'm in FL (Go Dolphins! Bahhh Patriots! LOL - j/k).
    Seriously, this was one of the best reviews of product I've seen done on youtube. It should stand as a guide as how they should be made.
    You just sold me on it. I hope the 5.11 guys support you with free product or something for this hard work.
    My only concern with the bag is that my goal is to use it for 2/3 day BOB in the event of a SHTF scenario, but I'm be relying on it sitting high enough above a Blackhawk Padded Patrol Pad or being able to mount in some way like that for support. I think it'll work which might also lend to distributing some of the weight to the belt - maybe not ideal to take off quickly, but just to save on getting a sore back. Gettin' older now and in my backpacking days, having a nice backpack where the weight was supported to the hips was always a huge help.
    Again, thank you, sir, for a job well done. Hey, maybe we'll see you guys in the Superbowl one year and in spite of the friendly rivalry I will most certainly offer up to you a toast and good cheer! ;)
    Be well and much thanks.

    I've used all three rush packs, separately, for travel. Packed, correctly, and packing minimally, I never have to check either of them for flying. It sure is great to take my travel gear on and off the plane with me. It save time and money.

    I own a Rush 12 that I use daily and also when traveling for work, it was pricey but it is extremely practical. I'm always amazed on the amount of stuff I can fit in it.
    Currently looking at the Rush 24, I will probably end up buying it for the extra space, so I don't depend so much on suitcases and other bags when traveling

    I love this backpack and I got my Rush 24 in Multicam years ago. Very durable product and good for all around use. Only problem with it is that I get flagged for inspection at airports in other countries when I've used this backpack as my carry on/in cabin bag. Probably coz it's in camo and very tactical looking that it gets flagged.

    Ordered the 37 liter in Kangaroo, but they pull this kind of a cute trick on Amazon. It said there were five bags left in the kanga. I'm not worried though so I poke around the house doing this n that. Then I'm back by the PC so I figure hey I'll reload and see what if anything happened to the number. OK. What? Now there's just 1 bag left in kanga, oh f no! But I was pretty sure I wanted that bag and in that color, not black which it seems there are plenty of. I've been looking hard for a week now, but still I'm not 100% sure, but close enough. So now I have to go for it. Five minutes after that, guess what? Five bags left, again! Not unhappy or "remorseful" about the purchase at all. Just a little pissed at the scam kind of way it happened. Anyway watching this video because now I just can't wait!

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, that's something some sites, especially Amazon does to get you to pull the trigger on purchasing a product. As you figured out they try to get you to think they're being bought and will be out of stock soon which makes you pull the trigger before they're all gone. You're gonna love the pack!

    This video is awesome. I wish to make a survival bag for geek and include my laptop, extra battery for smartphone, mouse, etc. But i need something to eat too, water, first medical kit, swiss knife, maybe some light etc. Sometimes i'll do photography and i'll need my canon 6D, some lenses, some sd cards and extra photo stuff. And the most important thing, i already have a computer bag, walk bag, photography bag or school bag. I always get crazy with bags and i wish 1 bag than i can use all the time and i think this is this one. I think i'll do what i wish without any problem. Thank you. I hope you did a video about stuff you can stick to bag like that, on the sides or under. I'll be interested about sticking a small photo bag or a sleeping bag. I'll look for that. Great question. The Condor is a bit smaller than the RUSH24, great for a EDC bag but for me not very comfy for hikes. If I had to just get one bag that was going to be my EDC and also a bag I grab and put more gear in to go for hikes then it would have to be the 24. Also - the RUSH 24 is a tad bit cheaper money but the same great quality.

      Sorry for taking so long to reply. Yes the 24 would handle commuting with your macbook and other EDC items easily and with room to spare. I would also recommend looking into Vanquest Gear, they make really nice packs/bags and they also woould handle your items easily. I just reviewed the Triton 20 (Gen2) from Vanquest, it's an amazing EDC bag, my video should be uploaded in a few days. The color I prefer and almost always have is Coyote tan or some companies call it Desert Tan. As for Drago products? I have no experience with them but I honestly never heard a bad thing. Hope this helps even just s little. Let me know what you decide, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are.

      I do feel it might be too big, I think the 12 would fit the role you mentioned very well. Black doesn't really stand out as much as the other colors. I don't feel black is very tactical because the PALS/MOLLE webbing blends in well with the rest of the bag. It's that webbing that makes these bags "look" tactical.

      I feel it's better, almost in every way. The Goruck isn't a bad bag, it's made well but I don't feel they'er worth the money, a little over priced in my opinion. As for the Heimplanet monolith, it's not even in the same category as the RUSH24, and also over priced. The 5.11 packs are made very well and will last for years to come. I've done a lot with my RUSH packs and they still look brand new, a little dirty because they are used hard but still look brand new. The Goruck isn't a bad bag but personally I'd take the 24 in the woods with me over the Goruck.

      +techwg I would say around 30 pounds you'd be fine. I use the 72 and usually carry around 40+ when I'm hiking looking for a location to make my videos and never have an issue being uncomfortable. The 24 is a great strong pack that fits well and can hold a lot of gear.

    • @TutsTeach
      @TutsTeach Před 8 lety +1

      +TheTacticalDefender I just did the calculation with the help of google, 30 lbs is 13 KG wow. I had a hard enough time dealing with 8KG being uncomfortable. Perhaps it is my walking posture. I noticed just earlier today that I tend to walk with the backpack on with a slight forward tilt, however when I stand perfectly straight spine that the 6.5 KG I have in it now is even more comfortable. Not sure if I would be able to maintain that posture for a 6 mile walk though. Are there any tips to being able to carry 30 lbs in this Rush 24 backpack comfortably?

    • @GearReviewDepot
      @GearReviewDepot  Před 8 lety +2

      I'm 225lbs and I stand 5'11" and even though I'm 30lbs overweight according to my doctor I'm strong and stubborn. lol - I had mostly manual labor jobs most of my working life, so carrying this pack at this weight really doesn't seem to be an issue for me. I also only hike to locations to make videos about 3 miles and some times a little more but it's usually hike to a spot, remove pack and all gear, make some videos for a few hours then hike back. If I was just hiking and not making videos I would have a much smaller pack with much less gear. Your stance or gate has a lot to do with handling weight as well as the pack is a big factor, the better the pack and how sits on your body will make it easier or harder to carry. The pack has a great shoulder harness system which helps but it also has a rigid backboard that also help keep the pack firmly on your back. Don't forget the pack is a heavy pack as well, very well built but not your average hiking pack. "Normal" hiking packs will be a lot lighter but not as tough in my opinion. I like the "tactical" looking packs so I deal with the extra weight.

    • @TutsTeach
      @TutsTeach Před 8 lety +1

      +TheTacticalDefender I prefer nice good looking sturdy bags instead of fruity looking flimsy thin things that look like they will get ripped if you only fill it with kitchen towel lol. I am trying to strike a balance between everything that I want in my extended EDC, with the weight. The posture does seem to be very important. It may take me some time to build up the muscles to be able to walk for long periods with an erect back, but I think it would be worth it in the end if it means I can carry more things with me. This is less about "going on a hike" but just is about having more, useful, things. Even more than I have with me in my cargo pocket's Maxpedition Mini pocket organiser and on my belt. Can't carry everything on my person, so I have a scaled down miniaturised personal carry and then the backpack will fill the void with extras and better sized tools etc.
