The chip still works if inserting card into the machine which is brilliant. Ive done this to all my cards. It only prevents the chip ID from being picked up from a distance by scammers using wireless card reading devices which is great. Thank You.
You video is the shortest but the best. I received my new Chase Freedom Unlimited credit card today. The credit card is opaque unlike your credit card in this video. But because of this video, I knew what to look for. I used a scissor to cut across all three antenna wires. The length of the cut is about 1/8 inches or 3-4 mm. Thank you!
njtexit8 Chase Freedom Unlimited has fraud protection and zero liability on unauthorized purchases. If someone stole it you’d just have to call them and tell them.
That comment by Josh Murphy misses the point quite massively. Cards here in the UK have no liability either, but we still don't want to be forced to have contactless cards against our will which is what's happening. Banks should provide an online "on/off" switch, and an online max payment setting (so I could set mine to £5 instead of £80 etc). You shouldn't have to repair thefts after the event - proof it's an insecure system lacking Two Factor Authentication - and it doesn't remove any of the stress and anxiety of knowing someone was close to your and skimmed your card.
My card is totally black. If I practice a big hole on the left the chip will machine realise card is compromised. Are antenna lines alway around the edge of the card?
I don't see any line in my cards. Do all cards have the same pattern? Edit: I just followed my gut feeling and I grabbed a sharp knife and I made a hole near the chip and now NFC doesn't work anymore haha :D
Banks got smart and now 2023, make cards very dark. Still you can drill a 6mm hole around the border away from important features and it shall work. You are just cutting the antenna.
"Place the contactless card over a source of intense light" - my card is as black as sin and I can't see anything through it! :'( I'll try the scanner at the next airport security check I go through, I'm sure they won't mind. :D
They keep evolving against us! What you can do is cutting the card open to find where is the antenna and then ask for a duplicate to perform the operation on the right place.
Ondrus21 I don't know it, sorry. You can risk to make some cuts with a box cutter near the chip or perform a full autopsy and ask for a duplicate when you know where is the antenna.
Paul Borons Yes, I did the autopsy this morning and found out that the best place for cutting the antenna would be probably on the opposite side from the surface chip, just between the magnetic and the signature bands. There are about 5 copper wires in 4 mm range begginig 2 mm from the edge. It ought to work. I only have to wait for the new card.
For those whose cards are thick and cant find the antenna or just dont want to bother. I found that there are wallets for contactless cards. Look it up.
That's good to prevent people from surreptitiously nabbing it through a reader, but does nothing for you if you actually lose your card or have it stolen. Example: if you dropped your fancy card and a thief saw it and picked it up, they could easily walk to any merchant who uses the feature and use your funds to purchase items until you realized that you lost your card because hey, convenience allows them to pay without ID or a PIN. By using this method in the video or any like it, the chances of what I described happening are impossible to pull off. Impossible. Food for thought.
@@johsa2162 many banks does this, atleast in here, in India. My bank is a Indian private lable bank, called Axis Bank. After turning off the contactless payment via card, your card will still beep when you take it near the to the card machine. But the transaction gets rejected by the bank. So you don't have to worry anymore. Btw, I like the feature and I keep it on. My bank even have the option switch on/off the card. If you even insert the card and put the pin, the transaction will always gets rejected. And there's the option all banks have to block and replace your card if it gets lost or you don't want to use that card anymore... Hope this helps.
For your kind information you can only disable the contactless transactions. But you can't disable the wifi of the card which will continue to send signals that might interfere the signals of other cards like another debit or credit card or a metro card.

Great Advice! Doing now. No need to worry about RFID blocking wallets
This is the most important and helpful video anti-theft I ever seen on CZcams!
But a banker IS a professional thief 🤔
I think he was being facetious.
Btt yes
1:45 in case of doubt, ask a professional THIEF 🤣🤣🤣
Right on the nose!....and the best advice simply put. Thanks for posting
;)
Brilliant! Cheers!
Great tip. Contactless is a stupid ideia without password.
Beautiful necklance. :D

Wonderful! Thanks!

Thanks for such a practical solution.
You are welcome :)
Does it still work after dong this?
Very useful information.

Not necessarily, sorry. You can try to make an incision there and see if it stops working.
Does it work the in ATMs if we make a hole?
Yep
Well said

My guess is that it's not an antenna but a coil(similar to wireless charging) used to charge and excite a wireless signal in the antenna. )
Yes. You are correct. It forms the secondary of transformer which get energised through electromagnetic field of POS device.
@@manmohangarg7967 It does both. Just like and RF ID chip.
My guess is that nobody cares what your guess is.
No longer "enjoy" getting hacked either.
Great idea.....I just came out with idea of disableling my Visa card!!!! Because of scamer, of course.
Sadly the card I got today is to dark to see through with the light.
press a torch up against it. i use a led lenser ;)
Use your mobile phone LED torch.
My cards are too dark, not even the strongest lights are showing me the stream lines. What to do?
I can only think of dissecting one card to see the insides and then ask for a new one. They'll win at the end, but we'll try to make it difficult.
Look very carefully from above. Tilt the card. Try different angles. Mine is the Chase Freedom Unlimited and it is hard to see the antenna wires.
Or?! Aren't they the same?

If I put the card below a light, I can see nothing. The card is absolutely non-translucent.

Just get an RFID sleeve. Most US cards are issued with this technology now and I use Apple Pay everywhere now.
And the thief just gets a more powerful sniffer to get through the sleeve
@@Gamerdude753 doesn’t work like that.

Do meditation and it will be removed initially for short period but when you reach a level it will be forever.
