7 shifts in politics we anticipated in run-up to Modi’s rise in 2014, what we got right & wrong

  • The rise of Modi as a pre-eminent political personality marked the shifting of the largest tectonic plate in 2014. He is the first non-Dynasty leader to acquire this domineering stature, the only non-Brahmin and also the first never to have been in the Congress party. He could rule India on his own strength and definitely own his party as well. Watch #NationalInterest, originally published on 12 April, 2014, with the Editor-in-Chief @ShekharGupta where he predicted the rise of the national leader & its impact on national politics.

      Modiji is a performer only in video clips. Whatever Mo D has done, the solid foundation was put by Congress. Mo D could use technology because technology such internet, mobile and social media is a time dependent factor and was not available in Congress time as it is in Mo D's time.

    One of the greatest mystery is "what do you mean by secular party? What is the logic of calling BJP communal but Cong, TMC, AAP, DMK, SP etc all non BJP parties are secular based on data and facts?"

    • @prohind
      @prohind Před 20 dny +1

      I challenge all to prove that BJP is not the biggest secular party. Mo D's secularism is as anti Hindu as of Congress. Mo D's BJP is just like Congress in every respect now.

      @padmaganesh891 Před 20 dny +12

      BJP is certainly more secular than the Khangress. BJP has not given any special privilege to the Hindus or any other community. It wants to bring UCC, equal laws for all citizens whereas Khangress is opposed to UCC and has always appeased he muslims. Creation of Waqf board is the greatest example. But ironically, BJP is called communal.😂😂

      @@padmaganesh891 UCC is universal only in name, based on what was passed as UCC in UK, it is essentially Hindu code. Modi does not have the courage to do away with things like HUF etc and inculcate some good aspects of muslim law like mandatory inheritance/land to daughters etc.

      @@padmaganesh891 Here I slightly differ on Muslims appeasement and Waqf Board. Mo D is the biggest appeaser of Muslims. Congress appeasement is Mo D's TRIPTIKARAN of Muslims. Both Congress and Mo D love Muslims and Both Hate Hindus. Yes Mo D is indeed a Hindu Hater. What you see about Mo D is a drama to fool Hindus.
      Though Waqf Board was created by Congress but oxygen supply to Waqf Board has been maintained by Mo D. Had Mo D not been anti Hindu, he world have abolished waqf Board and freed Hindu temples from gov control and repealed places of worship act. Mo D did nothing for Hindus.

    Kejriwal & AAP have been the biggest disappointments. If they had focused solely on replacing the Left and the Congress completely by 2024, they would have had a serious shot at winning Lok Sabha 2029. Sadly, AAP was too myopic and opportunistic.

    • @yashgarg4864
      @yashgarg4864 Před 21 dnem +1

      I still think this alliance is a masterstroke for aap. If INDIA wins, AAP will finally get a friendly central government and relief from the Extortion Department. On the other hand if INDIA loses, it would most likely be because of another congress collapse. AAP would only gain, right now they are looking on their way to sweep punjab, this time the delhi equation is even close. It might also breack BJPs fortress in Gujarat with Baruch. It could also be the sole opposition winner in haryana's Kurukshetra, that is going to polls this year as well.

    • @vinod1147
      @vinod1147 Před 21 dnem +13

      The issue with AAP is that Kejriwal does not trust anyone and hence limit the expansion. As soon as some leader start developing teeth, that perhaps help AAP grow, Kejriwal just snaps and push the leader out. He seems to either have issue with people management or the most politically insecure leader. Look at AAP promoting his wife while him being in jail, while other AAP leaders a just being on the sidelines supporting Mrs. Kejriwal.

    I think instead of "One nation, One poll", it would be wiser to implement "One day, One poll". It has become a dull and fear mongering election. Congress campaign is largely directionless. On the other hand, BJP seems to be all over the place without one clear tether. Given INC's structural weakness, it appears to be a BJP vs BJP election. Either last minute harakiri will sink the BJP, or the demoralized opponents will lose hands-down to grant BJP its wish of "400 paar".

My reasons for the above comments were based on my observations in my own constituency. Mine is traditionally a Congress seat. However, BJP clinched it in 2014 and then lost in 2019(by a very narrow margin). This time both BJP and Congress have fielded clean and non-controversial candidates. But only the BJP machinery is active. The Congress is not even on the ground. Only a handful of Congress MLAs are campaigning and from what I hear they are not even paying their workers hence nobody wants to come out in the hot sun. That said, by the very virtue of its "muscular" campaign, Congress vote bank (muslims and others) is unifying. This is also creating a Hindu polarization. It's difficult to gauge the extent.

    What distinguish Modi from other politicians upto now in India is he is deemed a hard Taskmaster performer and a politician who walks the talk. That image have kindled hope among millions and millions that he mean business with no policy framework that's partisan, notwithstanding what his opponents say. It's failure to understand this paradigm shift in aspirations that undid Rahul Gandhi and his coterie along with others. Few other sucessful politicians of this era, be it Mamata, Stalin or even Kejriwal can't match Modi in the perception meeting expectation aspect in Indian politics of today.

You were too late in predicting his imminent victory and that too qualified it with ‘IF’ 3. The rest of your predictions were focused on generalities - there will be change if Modijee becomes the PM. Makes no sense, those changes would have been brought by any new leader ascending the power in Delhi
