Question of the Day 💡 What camera are you using for your CZcams Channel? Let me know. **** Check out the Impact Varipole HERE ➡ amzn.to/3uI6l78
Im using my phone but im waiting for Christmas to maybe get a Canon mark ii
EOS D50
Sadly, I'm using my old Canon Powershot Pro. The camera is too for today's fancy stuff, but it is what I can afford at the moment. I could use my phone, but I would really need a tripod or stabilizer for it to work as well.
A canon elph510... at 1st l wasn't sure if it would do the job but it really is a great camera for new creators. If you keep it in auto mode it will work 4 vlogging(whivh l thought was all i'd get out of it but once l learned how many settings it has it changed the game 4 me!
Huawei Mate 20 pro, Pixel 5, Sony DSC QX10
Yes, there’s good reason to not use the Varipoles that way…we’ve mocked up sets quickly with horizontal varipoles just to watch them fall down. There just isn’t enough strength in the friction of the pads because they were designed for vertical installation. They do make friction fit poles for this use with wide, knobby pads. These poles let you torque down the extension and the pads dig into the walls (leaving marks). I’m glad yours have worked for a short while, but this is not a safe and reliable option. People should steer clear of this.
Thank you, Dan, i was thinking the same thing.
Thanks
What would be better ?
@@Nicalaos Screwing into structure or with appropriately sized anchors. Can create a U shelf under each side to ensure support if friction fails.
There's also a crossbar you can get that goes between two poles. So you would have two vertical poles and hang stuff off the crossbar.
If you want to do a setup like this, that's the way.
Personally the floorspace saved by putting my key light on a vertical pole has been very nice. But yeah I wouldn't try to go wall to wall.
Just an FYI for anyone looking into getting super clamps for this kinda poll. You need the big ones, because the ones listed in the description of this video aren’t the ones that are used in the video and are too small for the poll.
bought it and when it came in I was disappointed to see it didn’t fit my poll I just bought aswell so I’m just back here to let anyone know to watch out
Looks like a great tool! Although the engineer in me would recommend using a stud finder and trying to keep the ends of the pole pressed against a stud location when possible. This will give you a more secure connection and prevent the possibility of putting a hole in the wall. (Note: this is especially important for ceilings since studs may be farther apart)
Yes, that's the best way to go!
Think media always finds a way to make people's day happier, he has inspired me to start my own channel😭😀
same here 😭
OMG, I LOVE YOU!!!! I have been searching on and off for three years for affordable ways to have overhead lighting and cameras. Never did i find any of these. The super clamps and Flex arms with these varipoles will work perfect for what i need. Thank You for making this video!🥰
Great work on this 🔥 my brother recommend this same setup a few months ago! We had to go with longer extenion as well as mounting a piece of wire in between to make sure it wasn't going to fall off the ceiling 😅
Lol! I went a little more hard core with getting things off my floor by installing a tube stretching wall spreader. I love not tripping over stands anymore and highly recommend getting your lights off the ground. Love this budget option as well.
Yes!! It's so nice to free up the ground space!
Perfect timing. While my filming studio space is already optimized with a ceiling-mounted soft box, super clamps, and arms for my cameras and mics, I needed a better way to mount a soft box in my office when streaming at my desk or for lighting during video conferences. This may be the perfect solution!
Which super clamps did you use to connect lighting to the Varipole?
I just got some from a company called Gravity for £45 each. They are built just as well as my manfrotto autopoles for 1/3 of the price
Do you have a link to the site/product.
Great solution. With accessories and clamps, the whole set endered up costing $250. Not bad at all for the solution it brings. I've had issues when filming in small spaces since the c-stands does not allow the setup to be really close to the wall, because of the feet size. With those now, I can set lights pretty flush with the walls.
Thanks you, and congrats for the channel. wow... that's a lot of subscribers.
I love how the autopoles clean up the floor space! I have had 3 of them in my studio for over a year. You are right Nolan, make sure you read the specs for your set up. Varipoles and Autopoles have different recommendations.
Good to know!! Great video by the way!
I loved your cameo in this 😁
What did you use to connect the lighting to the Varipole?
I'd be way to afraid of it loosing grip over time, and crashing to the floor in the middle of the night. Afterall....my shower curtains still fall on occasion...
Best thing to keep everything clean. Love it! I have the VariPole from GravityStands and that one costs $65. I have a couple of superclamps on it for my led lights and if I wanna mount my camera. Right now I have it from floor to the ceiling, and I'm actually getting a second one so I don't have to move it around, even though it's pretty straight forward and easy to do.👌
Ya, it even saves so much space being vertical!
@@nolanmolt absolutely. Before I moved back home from a dedicated space I had it between walls, which was really nice to just positioning the lights how I wanted it..
How did you mount your lights to the pole?
@@PositivelyMommy super clamp and spigot
@@BoombapArt thank you!
I use these!! but in place of stands for my background. It won't work for me for holding the lights because my space is a bit awkward. I don't want lights that high up. I do store my lights on the poles when I want them out of the way.
I actually used one varipole two super clamps to hold a three Mount backdrop holder and I have one 107” backdrop paper roll hanging on it. Has been hanging up for three months now lol 😂 I use the other pole to mount lights
Awesome!!
@paulfeinberg what are you using to mount or clamp the lighting?
@@furiousrobinson I just have some RGB panel lights and I use Impact 20" Pivot Arm with Super Clamp Kit for each light.
Wow, nice. And fewer extension cords to be always tripping over.
For sure!
forsure! lol
I just moved into a room as big as yours and your videos have been helping massively! I now know what to get 🥺 Thank you
My Studio Floats Sometimes 😭
LOLOL!
I have this set up at home for my lights. I did have a soft spot in my wall that cracked when I attempted to put it up.
I also use the vertical setup for seamless background paper with the expanding paper holders and an aluminum core crossbar to keep the cardboard in the paper tube from sagging and wrinkling.
Putting it on a stud is the best way to go!
Just cause there bright yellow there is nothing to say you can’t paint them black lol
This is super interesting and with wonderful value! Thank you ☺️ I’m thinking of purchasing this kind of lights to start doing CZcams lives and this help me a lot!
Awesome!
This was short and sweet and also very useful because not only now I know what you use to hang the lights but how are you washing with color your space which is something that intrigued me a lot.
🤘🏼
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
I would love one! Especially since my gets get all over them and at times they drop them white recording
Same here, this type of setup would really help out.
Cool! First time seeing this! Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
I think I need to try this.
Same here
Awesome technical solution for small space!!! Thank you for sharing 👌🍀🙌🏾
Wawwwww I really like it....it being a while u guys did give away😂👌
Great video! Recently had a similar idea to this that used unistrut channels mounted to the ceiling. Then, used trolleys and a pole to span across the room to hold all the gear. Mounted securely to the ceiling and can slide across the whole space! Super useful and much more convenient than the rolling single tripod setup for my space.
I wonder if you can do a similar type of setup to hang and switch different cool backdrops!!!
you for sure can!
👀
Now this is new and interesting! Can't wait to get one for my studio
Me too, this is such a great idea!
It's been awesome!
@@nolanmolt omgosh hi Nolan!
Damn! I hope I can get the Manfrotto one in the UK!
Yeah!!! Holler at ya boy!
من مصر ام الدنيا...استمر ياصديقى
I have my first set of softbox lights arriving today! So excited to watch this for when I need to upgrade 😍
Nice!
Awesome!!
This is such a good idea and feels very Hollywood studio. Great video🙂
Whoaaaaa, …just when you think think media can’t get any better BOOM …floating studio!!! This is so useful and affordable!
Ahhhh, I love it Nolan. Making use of all the possible real estate a room has to offer without the cumbersome equipment in the way! Added bonus are the pole ends...no drilling required and perfect for renters!
wow.. so cool .. 👍
How do you attach a crossbar to it?
You all giving out all the secrets !
its what we do! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
@@ThinkMediaTV these were already hard to find before now I can’t imagine how difficult it’s going to be to pick up another set + extensions 😂
Love the impact and value of a short youtube video! Thanks for sharing. Would love to get rid of clunky mics covering faces while we talk, and create more freedom to move around and still catch sound.
Glad you enjoyed this shorter style of a review!
Great video. What clamp is that silver one you are using for your microphone boom arm? Thanks.
Which GVM light panels are you using on the varipole and what softbox are you using on the hair light?
Wow how convenient!
Looks like a really great option for clearing floor space for other things.
Awesome idea. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.👍😊💡
these look awesome
Think Media taking it to another level. Bringing on other talent. Tyyyyight.
Total game changer for me. Thanks Nolan I am going to get some. Love your videos mate, so helpful.
I am buying this right now
Wow, great video! I definitely need to upgrade my studio.
Wow very cool !! That pretty cool at my CZcams studio !
Ok that's a game changer for me! Nice video...... STUDIO UPGRADE TIME!!!
Omg…. If I had this for my CZcams videos…. Sheeeesshhh 🔥🔥
Sheeeeeshhh!
Such a great idea
That’s pretty cool.
2:24 - I tried this with GVM super clamps, and GVM lights (both 480LS and PR150R) don't work with them...the lights' tightening knobs point downwards when fully clamped onto the dual threaded pegs, and then the pegs cannot be reinserted into the clamp body. The light fixture knob interferes with the clamp body.
I'm done with the frustrating experience of trying to buy any equipment recommended by Think Media.
This is the fifth time I've ordered equipment based on Think Media's recommendations, only to find it's junk product.
Like the lapel mic you guys recommended that sounded worse than the iphone's built-in speaker.
Or the cell phone lens kit whose lenses made the picture so distorted around the edges that it was laughable.
Or the 4 GVM 480LS lights ordered off the GVM website's BOGO sale. I ordered the green colored version for the aesthetic so I could include the lighte in certain shots. But they sent me 2 of a newer style and 2 of an aesthetically non-matching older style with the power plug on the side of the light, which totally prevents the light panel from being tilted within its yoke. The power cord's plug literally contacts the yoke on one side, and the diffuser contacts the yoke on the other side, so there's no way to tilt them within the yoke. It'a the dumbest design.
Or tbe GVM globe light monolight combo whose fan is not only distractingly NOT silent, but literally causes the metal rods of the included globe bowens attachment to "sing" with a resonance hum like a tuning fork.
I'm returning all this GVM junk: their non-working clamps, the humming lights, the non-tiltable LED panel lights - everything GVM.
And Think Media, you have 5 strikes. You've lost your credibility.
TOP TIP - REMOVE the little feet. They don't actually help it stick to the walls. I found this out when my Varipole fell onto my head. I removed the feet and it's much more stable ever since.
Dear Think Media, Good Morning
i have one question, my ceiling is tilted (30° more or less) there's an adjustable head ? thanks a lot
I'm gonna have to do this when I renovate my home office/CZcams studio
Nice I will try this tfs
Thank you!
How about a follow-up. Are they still holding up they way you have them in video?
Your video is refreshing straight to the point. Thank you for sharing!
Nice content 👌
Good info. Thanks
Nice idea
I want to make it
Do you have a link for the lights?
Your videos are always helpful to us, thank you for sharing
Really dope setup! Even though l'm a small creator, l love to see new things to add to my list
I'd be curious about mounting and positioning. How are you using the lights? How are you using the camera? How do access these easil
Wow look so cool
This is soo cool!
Any advice on what clamps etc or how to attach my key light (GVM 200) which weighs about 15 pounds - to my varipole which is vertical ceiling to floor?
Any luck finding anything?
What light is that on the Varipole? The softboxish.
Impact is not available in Europe, so my tip is to go Gravity Stands Vari-Pole
Question... In your thumbnail you have boom mics mounted to the varipole. Could you please share links to the clamps and boom pole that you use? Thank you!
This looks interesting
Love it 💪
Thanks ☺️
Honestly, great video, and I just want to say, great work bro! 👍👏
That's pretty friggin' cool
What lights are u mounting on the pole? Do any kind of lights mount on it
NOLAN!! My guy!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
To all new youtubers ! Lets grow together in 2021 !
Nolan, which clamps did you use at 2:25 of the video? I would love an affiliate link if you have one so I can pick some up. Thank you.
Professional as ever🥰
I have a similar set up.
Thats so cool..
Brilliant idea!!
Nice job guys thanks for the share
Awesome!
Which crossbar do you suggest to use with two of these auto poles? Thanks
awesome mate! thank you for sharing = )~
WOW! Super cool
Bro. I see mixed reviews on this particular brand. Is this product video still a recommendation for youtube on a budget? Is their a better option under $150? Thanks?
I'm looking for a similar system (pressure poles) but I need really short ones for my study. My desk and overhead cabinets are all built in with no space to use clamps. The distance between the top of the desk to the bottom of the overhead cabinet is only about maybe 600mm to 800mm. Definitely less than a metre. Do you have any idea who sells good quality, adjustable, pressure poles that I can use to mount my camera, simple lighting and microphone boom arm? Any help appreciated.
The local hardware store in Australia don't have any. And the ones they have aren't strong at all.
I genuinely love it but all I can think of is those portable pull up bar fail vids.
What kind of light that used any link please of your kit?
Amazing!
