One thing to be aware of if you are entering such a trade, is that you do really need the first goal to come relatively early in the proceedings, or else the price won't jump enough to put the strategy into action. Example, you lay under 1.5 goals at odds of 1.6 early 2nd half (0-0), and there are no goals at all until just before your 1.1 stop loss exit point. If for example the goal comes in the 83rd minute the price is only going to bounce back up to about say 1.4, so you could still make a small loss even if that goal comes. Don't want to be negative, but worth bearing in mind, and I guess it comes back to careful match selection again.

    • @me-zj4qc
      @me-zj4qc Před 5 lety +1

You can avoid this by watching the market for the following goal (2.5 for 1.5 etc.) and getting out before the back odds come down to your entry odds.

One thing I wanted to point out for people that are not used to lay betting. The Lay must be odds on. At 1.5 you are risking half the stake. Don't put on a lay bet over 2.00 as you are risking the whole stake. In certain conditions you can risk more than the stake you lay. JUST BE SURE THAT THE LAY BET IS ODDS ON. i would like to see more trading strategy's using lays. When you trade on the back market you are limiting your profit as the price goes down. With lays you would be waiting for the market price to rise. Interesting idea using a trailing stop loss...

Hi. Firstly i came across your vids and have to commend you on a job well done!. Im still learning the ropes..... whats the advantages to LAYING under 1.5 to BACKING over 1.5? B4 i saw this i have done 3 trades where i would back 1.5 at HT hope for an early goal then ride odds down to my entry point see if another goal would come. I learnt a few things 1: it can be VERY profitable when works. 2: Be VERY careful when waiting for entry point( odds changed as i cashed out resulting in £1.40 loss) 3: I felt MUCH more comfortable doing this on games i could actually watch as to just in game stats. (In game STATS can differ greatly from site to site)
Also i take it this is much more profitable than laying the draw?

The best way to automate is use software to sound alarm and switch to market at the stop odds, and do it manually
I would also get out a 100% turnover of liability
    example
you lay 100 at 1.5 liability £50 a goal goes in offers you say £55 would take that. if no goal at 1.15 your out
if you right 50% of the time your quids in. dont get wrong here, if a goal goes in and the profit is say £70 or £80 i would not take it, i would wait for the next goal for £100 profit or if it drops back to £55 i would then get out.

If goal come earlier you can trade out LTD what covers lay on under 1.5. Another goal comes full profit. You have more time win

I have a question: what if instead of using the stoploss, you just take responsibility and leave the profit in freebet? Could not it be more profitable in the long run?
I ask this because using the stoploss, we fail to catch the late goals (after the 85 '). Making a freebet in first goal, we would have a smaller profit per game, but a bigger time window

After you have placed your Lay bet - and you know what your S/L is (1.1 initially) or (1.4 after the goal is scored) so could you not Click on the "Back" tab and then type in the relevant number - that way effectively the S/L would be in place as soon as the price hits. (If this is a stupid question - i apologise LMAO)

I’ve just used this method in the leister game. Well sort off. I say sort off because I didn’t quite follow the rules. I cashed out for a profit instead of letting it hit my stop loss. I just couldn’t bare the idea of breaking even when I had guaranteed profit stirring me in the face. I’m actually a bit annoyed with me self for not cashing out as soon as the goal was scored. I would have made £46 instead of the 20 I ended up making. So my question is what’s so bad about cashing out when the goal is scored. I know we’re meant to have discipline but what if you have enough discipline to always get out of the market when you hit your first stop loss in the red, what’s so bad about cashing out for a guaranteed profit when it does go right. You said it yourself the method has a lot of break evens, why no reduce those break evens and increase the amount of times you profit. I’m not trying to question the method or undermine you in any way. I’m genuinely curious. If there’s a good reason to wait it out other than potentially increasing your profit to get 100% of your stake, I’ll start do it, but if there isn’t really a good reason apart from that I think I might stick to trading out when the goal I need comes.

it's not really a Trailing Stop-Loss is it ... all you are doing is moving your Stop-Loss as the market moved in your favour. You could move it such that you would win £10 or £20 rather than break-even ... it's for you to decide what your minimum profit or maximum loss will be if the second goal is not scored. There's nothing wrong with the strategy just saying it's not a true Trailing Stop-Loss and it is more flexible than you are describing. :)

Hi Ben, I am currently trading this strategy with a 2 to 1 ratio. So my first stoploss is always 33%, one third of te stake. I have the experience and discipline to win with this strategy. It happened to me a good couple of times that I was seconds to late or to early, but I understand in the long run, if you stick to the strategy, you will make money. However, after two weeks I have traded 23 matches with a win-rate of 26%. (Backtesting using a 40% stoploss wouldnt make a huge difference) So I was wondering what your win-rate is. If you have a higher win-rate, than I know for a fact I have to do a better job and maybe apply for some lessons.

Ben, why don't you just put the closing stop loss bet in the market at your original entry price after the first goal has gone in? It seems to me that it requires more discipline (and time) to be constantly scanning the market to wait for the price to get back down to the entry price and then put the closing scratch bet in. Or is it because even unmatched bets are somehow lost when the market is suspended when the second goal comes in (on the Under 1.5 goal lay example you give on the Millwall match)? .i.e. it seems to me easier to place the closing bet in after the first goal goes in and then forget about it, secure in the knowledge that you will either get a scratch trade or the full result

      1. Examples don't wait for 1.40 - they seem to be any odds he finds to fit the bill.
      2. It is not the TSL as quoted. The trailing stop loss at the beginning shows taking a profit below a peak ONCE the odds START TO DROP (i.e. taking SOME profit), not set back to entry point. This is NEITHER the definition of a trailing stop loss NOR the initial explananation.
      3. Where is an example of taking a partial profit as the price drops as in the introduction. Oh, after the introduction, that is no longer an option.
      4. He says "goals go in after he has cashed out for a loss ALL THE TIME' meaning either the exit strategy is faulty or the statement is incorrect.
      5. A few more holes and it could be called a colander.
The system may or may not be profitable.

@@davidgreen8189 Hi Dave thanks for your reply. I take it you're not a fan of Ben?
Ben is the real deal, what you see is what you get.
He is one of the few who will show you the good, the bad & the ugly.
I don't know if you have downloaded the free pdf.
I downloaded it back in 2019, and it states that we are only risking max 40 ticks.
Obviously if you go in at 1.40, then you are risking your whole stake.
So that's why the exit point is at 1.10 (30 tick loss).
Otherwise 1.50 is about right, after all it would be annoying to wait for 1.40, when a goal went in before that.
For the sake of the video Ben needs to show winning examples of the trades.
So, obviously in the matches where he entered the trade at 1.40, he must of thought a goal was coming, and started recording.
It's all down to your match reading skills.
He did state that the strike rate is low, but the profit is high.
The possible returns are unheard of in football, without using leverage.
He states in the pdf if you keep your losses low usually about 30% of your stake.
Then you only need a 30% SR to make a long term profit.
This strategy is low risk high reward, my kind of strategy.
I believe that this strategy would be perfect for The World Cup.
The goal expectancy is very low.
75% of all matches have at least two goals in them.
In another video Ben states that a trader used this as his main strategy, and managed to scale up to four figure stakes.
Pretty sure I know who that trader is, he is a fellow (UFT) member, like myself.
      czcams.com/video/jYDqDFPEI1U/video.html
Download the pdf yourself Dave, and give it a go.
      Thanks again.
Good Luck! (May your bank grow). 👍

      @davidgreen8189 Před rokem

@@stephen11627 If you look at about 6 minutes in, it describes fairly accurately what a trailing stop loss is. Then later in the video, it suggests doing something completely different.
Which may be the better strategy? I have no idea, but using a TSL as in the intro your new stop loss would be 30 ticks below the high odds (which would almost certainly be a profit), NOT setting a NORMAL stop loss at the break even point as the body of the video suggests.
Lay at 1.40 with SL at 1.10. When a goal is scored and the odds go to 2.20, then the trailing stop loss is set 30 ticks lower at 1.90. If the goal was scored later and the odds only drifted to 1.80, the TSL should be set 30 ticks lower at 1.50. In other words, a TSL ensures that (virtually) 100% of the time a profit is made if the match does not end 0-0.
Ben may simply be unaware what a TSL is, but if that is the case, he should not confuse matters by using the term.

    • @stephen11627
      @stephen11627 Před rokem

@@davidgreen8189 Ben did say at the start of the video that it is not a true stop loss as in financial trading.
But it is the closest you can get when trading the sports markets.
I think this is better than a traditional stop loss, as when you hit a stop loss, you are losing money.
But, if you enter at 1.40 and a goal goes in, and let's use your example that the price drifts out to 2.20.
Then we are waiting for another goal before the new stop loss hits 1.40 the price at the start of the trade.
Once it hits 1.40 we exit for zero loss, how can that be a bad thing.
Also if the stop loss is hit before any goals are scored say at 0-0 then we exit for a (30- 40 tick loss).
      A small loss.
      What's not to like?
Sounds good to me, and I can easily see how another trader used this strategy to scale up to four figure stakes.
I have used it in the past, and I can confirm that it really works but, you need to use it sparingly.
Pretty sure the World Cup ticks all of the right boxes.
      We'll see?

In my experience stop loss doesn't work with Betfair trading. The reason is that when one selection moves lower another has to move higher. The book has to always be close to 100%. In the stock market all the stocks can go lower or they can all go higher. With Betfair trading you need a strategy to start a trade and a strategy to exit a trade. It's not a problem if your trade is in a losing position because will move back into a wining position again. If one goes up another goes down.

You have missed the point of Ben´s presentation. This is how he means it. Let´s say you laid the U 1.5 at 1.4 on Betfair or another Exchange. What this means you expect a goal and if it comes the odds will rise beyond 1.4 so you may green up. BUT if you are wrong and the odds on the U1.5 market continues to plummet you will face mounting loss . so to minimize the loss you wait till the odds get to 1.1 and you get out rather than wait for 1.01 and loose your whole liability BUT you have to be present to babysit the trade as Betfair does not have a stop loss feature like forex markets charts..
