I like seeing where you are (“tourist videos”), but I also enjoy your explanations of slow travel, finance, health care, and the other logistical issues that cause me some trepidation. It doesnt matter what they think it what you think and want. The more videos you put out the better. Viewers dont have to watch everything but the ones who do enjoy your channel will enjoy what ever you put out. Ive just found your channel and love you two as you are so easy to watch and friendly down to earth types. Im an Aussie are would live more Australia stuff to see.
I can't wait to see the pivot! Love you guys and I've been a steady fan from the beginning, but I will admit that the videos that focus more on the areas that you visit are not as interesting to me. To be honest this change sounds really exciting. Particularly given me and my family are on a three year countdown to slow travel (yes, that's "family". Four of us!). So things like finance, bank accounts, exchange rate fees, international health insurance, dental plans abroad etc are hugely important issues we are digging into, so that type of info would be amazing.
Plus, things like anything you'd change now two years in, such as storing a treasured music collection, family photos etc.
Love what you are both doing, and a huge inspiration here. 👍
Great to see that you respond to your viewers' wishes and wants to bring more content about F.I.R.E and Slow Traveling. The trip to Australia wasn't particularly appealing to us either, as we consider it to be a relatively expensive country, and we prefer to get the most out of our money by maximizing our travel experiences. I'm an Aussie viewer who has just discovered your channel and i have to say ( not in a nasty way I hope ) that watching you drinking coffee ,and in a Starbucks for goodness sake Australia is renoun for having better coffee than that overpriced establishment and hearing about your wife's haircuts , doesn't really show me what your experience of your stay in Sydney was like, from your closing comments I take it that your putting out a further video so I will watch it out of respect for your effort , I will also go back and watch your previous posts to be fairer in my opinion . My late wife and I travelled the world enjoying 31 overseas journeys before her tragic and unexpected death whilst on a trip to Phuket Thailand, since this traumatic event I have had no desire to travel anywhere , and people who say time heals all wounds are wrong , my wife was the one who researched all the countries, planned all the itineraries booked all the hotels and made sure we didn't waste any time while we on the ground , I was the dreamer ,the one who had read the books describing exotic places and differing cultures and I was happy to visit them as long as she was with me , im not trying to be morbid about my situation I have wonderful memories and am glad we got the chance to do the things we did together . We actually managed to do everything on our bucket list before her passing and I'm grateful for that ,we had decided to make a new list when we gt home from the trip she died on, but alas that wasn't to be . I am telling you all this just to say enjoy everything you can , see everything you can experience everything that you possibly can , life is too short and you don't want to be one of those people who say " I should have " . Thank for your indulgence you have my subscription .

Great video! I know what you mean also about the scarce time alone. Sometimes I would like to go for a coffee by myself as we slow travel the world but when I suggest it, my husband, a non coffee drinker, will say “I’ll join you”. 😂. Good luck with the new approach I’m sure it will go well. This series to Australia didn’t feel like slow travel but more a holiday. Your views on Sydney as a place to slow travel would be interesting, Starbucks, a cheap sandwich and bus drivers doesn’t cover it. Your desire to ensure you’re videos perform well for CZcams indicates that revenue contributes heavily to your travel costs. Make sure it’s what you want to do otherwise you could be seen as still working for the man 😉 I, like many, really admire and enjoy your honest approach, continue to enjoy your journey.

Like several others I like the videos about finance, budgeting, healthcare, expat living etc. Specifically, I’d like to know how you manage your “financial life” in the UK and navigate everyday banking and financial institutions without a UK home E..g. How do you provide proof of address when opening a UK bank account ? Thanks and looking forward to the new content.

Hello Kids! Happy to see you two at it and in good spirits. Never feel you have to "bend" to the algorithm, though fair to say you must do what you must if YT is becoming part of the income math day-by-day. What makes your videos attractive to me is exactly that: the newfound things I didn't know about. Yeah, I don't have Australia in my immediate radar of interests, but so what? Just you filming walking the streets gives me a 1st person POV of how the draffic is, how people interact, ..... and most importantantly ... that all Starbucks look like they ones in Cleveland Ohio or Morgantown, West Virginia; so there's that :) So here is one thing I've found myself doing when I have say 30 minutes to time-waste on youtube, and that is I look at the length of the video right after the thumbnail of title raises my eyebrows in interest. It's something I do instinctivelyt now, and I find I prefer to watch say four, 8 minute videos in my 1/2 hour timeframe, than say two, 15-minute ones. Is that just just me or do I reflect a larger demographic of data? I have no clue, honestly. But I'm sure there are statisticians out there that can better explain the level of engagement based on eyeballs-on-screen time etc etc. Today for example, I'm 2 hours into YT and I had no qualms about his one being 12-1/2 minutes long because time wasnt a factor in my choices. But again, it's only one man's opinion, so what the heck do I know, right? As to hobbies ..... that's cat-nip. I have the same issues man. I love photography, history, reading, editing content on LumaFusion, researching on things to which I am foreign ......., etc. My wife? Not so much. She loves being with me no matter what silly things in conjure up to do on a lazy day or afternoon. I gifted her an "iPhone Photography" course I found on Instagram and to my shock she ate it up and watched all bloody 5 hours of it, so now she's more into the photoghraphy walks when she can because I coaxed her into it. But to your point, time apart is lovely and we both know we need it. At least SHE knows that as an only child I value time with my own brain and she gives me that latitude to go off on my own when she seems my mind wander off. Now, last thing on my noggin, your next stop should be to one of those god-forsaken islands between Hawaii and Australian LOL ....... (ok just kidding, but I would watch that for sure). love you guys! Stay at it!
Interested to see the changes! So disappointed you didn’t show more of Sydney….my home town! I find sometimes when you’re in places you don’t showcase the location to get the “traveller” viewer interested in a location. Other times the videos show a lot! I do understand why you have Patreons and they help to keep you travelling but as a general viewer it is a bit down putting when you often say….you need to be a Patreon to see certain videos or be a bit more “in the know” about where you are and what you’re up to. Eg in this video you said the Patreons would get the rest of the Sydney videos. Anyway…I will continue to watch as do enjoy most of your content…whether travel or finances….similar age as you and would love to get out of the corporate rat race in a big city!! Enjoy your time at home in the UK!

Would like to hear about the costs of touring Australia. We are on year 3 of world travel and have done many places in Mexico, Hawaii, and for the last 2 years traveling all over EU. Curious how Australia compares to the these places. We’ve done slow 1 month stays and some shorter ones when we want to visit several cities within a country. Have also done a few cruises when the prices are good. All about finding an interesting city to explore without breaking the budget.
That's good to hear, I don't think you should live your lives to play to an algorithm, but you're good at what you do and the Australian videos don't seem to allow you to play up to that strength for some reason. I hope you enjoy your adventures and find ways to get back to making content that a wider audience will enjoy ❤

From my perspective Australia is a country I know, have been to and is an easy country to travel in so I guess I felt I could learn less from that series.

Q: i'm guessing to keep yourselves eligible for the various accounts (bank and brokers) in the UK you need to keep uk resident status. i'm struggling to work out the criteria to stop them taking that away. like do i need to be in the uk for a certain amount of time each year etc. have you guys got to the bottom of it?

Unless you are four wheel driving and camping on beaches, Australian videos never do that well so don't feel bad. It would be good in future videos if you said a bit more about how much things are costing you, like your accommodation for the month, if you do a video where you go out for the day it would be better to include how much everything cost. Cost is always what I am curious about. Definitely more financed based content will get more hits, and are more relevant as they are the as a key deciding factor whether or not someone can do it.
Get out of Australia before you spend all your money 😅... Crazy expensive!
