This man was a legend his ability to create awesome country honky-tonk music he was a good actor play Doyle in sling blade with Billy Bob Thornton and a number of other movies you will be missed Dwight R.I.P 😔
As a black kid from around the corner I can say Dwight was the coolest older guy we knew. Never nasty, never racist and his momma had the best laugh and advice for young guys like us. He sid he was gonna do it and boy did he do it.
This was the revival of a more traditional sound. It was rebellion of what was mainstream in Nashville at the time that Dwight had a hit with this song. Most country hits of the time didn't sound like this.

This is honestly my first time listening to Dwight Yoakam and I can say I will definitely be listening to more of his music. I thought to myself that Austin City Limits is a great place to start. I am loving watching old live performances and some newer ones. I knew Country could be great but growing up I only heard modern pop country that I did not like. I thought to myself that I needed to explore so I did and its one of the best things I have done for my music curiosity. Im so grateful that this is available for my listening pleasure. Anyone else who is listening in 2023 you have great taste in music btw.
Born in Detroit. Raised on Rock N Roll and Motown. Found country music much later in life. I prefer blue grass and Del Reeves, Loretta Lynn, etc much more than todays country. Love the hick-hop horseshit. I'll be using that one from now on, thanks.
I agree it sounds like shit going through a sewer pipe its for those people who like to scavenge for garbage in a open dumpster i would rather listen to nickelback
There’s plenty of country artists still around, they just aren’t on the radio much. Try Colter Wall, Sturgill Simpson, Cody Jinks is pretty good. Jamey Johnson was really big but hasn’t put out much lately.

It's 2021 and I'm watching this admiring Dwight's style, from the cool jeans, jacket, boots and texas neck tie and hat....he really looked great here. Reminds of my exact thoughts when watching my favorite bass player of all time. Ben Orr (The Cars) always looked great, had a cool style all his own. IMO two of the best dressed musicians around. They were the definition of cool!
I saw Dwight back in the late 90's in North Charleston, South Carolina. He was over 2 hours late for the show. They played every song back to back and left.
He came out in around 1985 or so it's was all over the radio ibwas working in electrical field with my uncle he tought me allot he love Dwight yokum.were all from a redneck background.loved it.
I stomped many a dance floor to this hit when it first came out & I still love it. He could remake the alphabet song & turn it into a hit. The way he moved it in those yummy looking boots & jeans.......lordy wish I could go back in time!

Arnold Schwarzenegger entering the casino. This is a beautiful song, your brother from Iraq
That lead guitar player is one of the best in the business.
Pete Anderson is Dwight’s Keith Richards. It’s never been the same since they spilt.
Pete Anderson... One of my heroes
Pete Anderson
Pete Anderson

One of my friends from my hometown was Dwight’s lead player,Eddie Shaver before Pete came on the scene.
Dude was born with one hell of a voice.

Still relevant in 2022...Sublime talent.

I just saw him in Little Rock 2/17/23. Saw him 29 years earlier in DC. He’s such a great artist and performer!
You bet your ass it is,and only getting better.

This was filmed on October 23,1988 and I'm still lovin' it.
Missin' Buck and Don too.
Back when country music was actually country music, those were the days.
no shit
Agreed but doesn’t Every generation say that? He looks pretty high here lol Willies bus must be close ACL
@@gregmf9427 I think he would be look happier if that were the case lol
Late 80's through the 90s was certainly the best era after the likes of Dwight, Garth, and Brooks and Dunn came along.
This was the revival of a more traditional sound. It was rebellion of what was mainstream in Nashville at the time that Dwight had a hit with this song. Most country hits of the time didn't sound like this.
I swear Dwight could sing the damn phone book and I'd listen to it all day long on repeat!
Same Ol Son
I remember saying exactly that same phrase to a coworker back in the 90s 😎
The man is a true living legend
I'm with you!!! 😄😄😄

Dwight is so Freaking Good. His voice was made for country and his band is bad ass. Love the guitar player on the Telecaster.
Pete Anderson was lead guitar during these albums. Amazing talent
2023 still listening to real country
One of the last real country artists before we got the hick-hop horseshit that's popular now.
Born in Detroit. Raised on Rock N Roll and Motown. Found country music much later in life. I prefer blue grass and Del Reeves, Loretta Lynn, etc much more than todays country. Love the hick-hop horseshit. I'll be using that one from now on, thanks.
Yep , all the drivel now is a clone of each other. LOL . Alan Jackson was pretty good, don't know if he is still around.

That entrance!! What a legend he is💃🏿 Still relevant 2019♥️
I think the entrance tune is Soul Twisting an old King Curtis instrumental
You will never meet a more down to earth guy than Dwight. Watch yourself he is a Master at Pranks too.

we need more fiddle in today's modern music, but those are like unicorns. and those who play violin rarely play country
Dwight is very good, went to a show at a winery, sat in the grass on the hill above the stage, drank their wine, very good show!!!

Hello beautiful
real good old country thank you sah.
Terminator 2 bar scene introduced me to this 30 years ago, eventually looked up the track and artist, glad I did, eventually!
The lyrics to this song are so dark and bleak but mixed with the upbeat country twang… love it
Recorded on his 32nd birthday, which was also my 32nd birthday.
