This was probably the clearest and most concise video I have seen on bar tape. Thank you!
Exactly what I was thinking, no waffle!!
Now this is a perfect guide. It’s simple, visually clean and it isn’t 20 minutes long.
I like how he made it look so easy but when I tried it for the first time, it's a totally different story 😂
Have never wrapped my tape correctly until watching this video, thanks!
So glad this was helpful!
This is the supreme bar-tape wrapping tutorial video on CZcams 🙌🏼
So everyone is confused over direction. He is doing clockwise on L and counter clockwise on R. Some tape with offset print (Bontrager Perf) can only be wrapped in this direction so print stays consistent when on top. The top direction is most important and at least everyone agrees on that. Team Sky video wraps in same direction as this video so......
Great video especially “that’s a wrap” made me smile.
Perfect tutorial! It took about 30 mins start to finish with re-watching the video a couple times. Now my bike looks schmick with new white tape 😁
I've seen so many videos that overcomplicate this thing with so many this and that. This is just perfect.
Best video on this topic.
Thank you for the instruction. Very well done, no ad libs whatsoever to not waste the viewers' time.
always come back and watch again!
Best bar wrapping video there is.
Worked great! My bars look and feel way better with the padded tape. Thanks for making a great video, short and sweet.
Thank you for sharing
Simple, exact and precise
Thanks a lot mate. You've shown very well how to wrap the handlebar tape. I just bought the Bontrager Gel Cork Handlebar Tape and I'll be wrapping my handlebar tomorrow in daylight just like you've shown. Thanks again. 🙂
You make that look easy. Neat job.
This is the best video on how to wrap bar tape.
Thanks - just got to do this on my aerobars now!
This the best handlebar video🤙👌👍
Thank you, love the efficient, effective instruction. This is the way to do an instructional video!!!
Merci beaucoup pour la vidéo! Excellente et très facile à comprendre!
Excellent, succinct and exact.
That’s how you do an instructional video. Thanks!
Nice tutorial 👍🏻
nice description and video for novice thx
I like this video the best because it’s not 20 min long. He’s just like “wrap that shit up and cut it and tape it, go ride your bike”.
Factz
He made it looks so simple. I will have to try. I have 3 bikes to wrap.
Make sure you just do the handlebars. Wrapping 3 entire bikes is unnecessary, wasteful, and expensive. Good luck.
Nagyon szép kerékpár
Best way shown how to do a wrap around the bars. You want the wrap to finish so the tape is wrapped towards the saddle from the horizontal bar..
Très utile, merci.
Makes it look so easy
it is
How do I get that stem in the red for my red emonda????
Im using a minivelo with a dropbar with a old shimano shifters located at the end lf the drop. So how am i gonna wrap it. Btw im just new to dropbars
Exactly what i needed to seee
thanks ~ been looking at which kind now & thickness
ohhh white tape, only pros use white because they have someone able to replace it after every ride
I've found that the fizik microtek tape which I guess is a synthetic leather? Doesn't stain easily. Whenever I've gotten grease on it, it wipes right off. And I use white tape if that's wasn't clear.
Wrapping it this way works for the big boys. I know they put new tape on quite often. For me I wrap my bars from top to bottom. I've never done bottom to top, and never will.. But that's just me.. I don't like to use electrical tape where my hands are, I don't ware gloves. I put a lot of miles on my bike... I've never had an issue with doing it this way.. My tape never gets lose or separates.. Keep riding everyone!!
Fantastic! No BS!
Marvelous.
Great job, and video! Somehow I always end up with barely enough tape at the end, and never with any left over.
You might not stretching enough
@@dido1803 or overlapping too much. Especially true with wide bars and long reach/deep drop bars.
The best tutorial out there
how to make brake settings. For madone 9.9 video pls..
I should’ve watched this before I wrapped my bars. I really struggled to make the area around the shifters look good.
Thanks! quick and easy tutorial, but i did for 30min.
@Arnold Armado it took me an hour. LOL
I`m 6`1 what size should I order?
Super good
Do I always have to wrap the tape in the same direction - clockwise? Or left side: clockwise, right side: counterclockwise?
The second one :) I personally wrap my drops the opposite direction as this tutorial (clockwise right side) and would say to check out the Park Tool demonstration but you have the right idea-it changes based on the side, to ensure your hands pull on the wrap in the same direction.
Awesome video! Do you ever reverse wrap it from top to bottom?
You can, but the exposed edges are prone to rolling above the hoods.
This only took 2mins. I just wrapped mine earlier without watching any tutorial it took me about 45 mins but still failed miserably
All your bike are very good...make sure that you are working on anothe DH bike😍😍
Takes me hours 😂
Arnold Armado because I have OCD and want it perfect 😁
Same with me it takes me about 30mins each Side cause I want it perfect and I’m also OCD
OCD myself. Took way too long, and it’s still not 100%😂
Perfect
Trek nice
Good 영상 잘보고 갑니다.
I wrap the tape to the outside. I find that this way I tighten it while riding.
I did not know denim jeans came with draw strings. Bold statement
Wow nice
WHAT IS WITH THOSE JEANS? lmao, they look comfy!!!
I go from top to bottom - no need for tape. Cleaner look. Is this wrong?
@West Park I figured there was a common-sense reason. Thanks for the reply.

That'll be $40
looks soo easy:P
It was fairly easy. Only took me a few minutes each side. Tape was sitting for months but now they'll do my hands some good.
1:39 The bar tape over the top of the brifter is problematic. It blocks the triangular indent that the matching triangular protrusion on the hood is supposed to rest in, thereby defeating its purpose and creating a bulge in the hood.
I think the direction of wrapping the tape strange. He's says the riders pull the tape tighter this way, but it should be the opposite way. The rider pull from the inside to the outside and the tape is wrapped in the opposite direction. Why is this ? And why is his explanation contradictory ? I really have a hard time to wrap (pun intended) my head around the direction of wrapping and the reasons behind it.
I've had the same reaction, I've just watched Calvin Jones from The Park Tools channel.
vrong direction
Because pro riders squeeze the drop inwards, if you're not a pro wrap it outwards.
Whether a rider has their hands on the tops or on the drops of the handlebars, the bar tape should wind in the direction of the gripping hand from finger tips to palm. The hand tends to turn in that direction when sprinting and climbing. Remember, a pro will pull hard on the handlebars. The bar tape is not under much stress when cruising along on the flats. Having said that, many pro mechanics do switch the bar tape direction during the wrap, but the bar tape always ends over the top of the handlebars in the direction of the seat.
Sprinting. When you pull up and inward with your right hand, and down and outward with your left, you will be tightening the tape. Same goes for left to right. THATS WHY INWARD IS right
The guys from Parktool started the other way round, same on the top though
Yeah my Trek Domane SLR 9 2023 is as per this video, I think maybe Trek have a different opinion of push versus pull when you put your hands on the drops?
@@stewheelie7874 I for myself start to the insides on the drops, it's easier to do the figure 8 and your turning to the inside in the upper handlebar. After hours of riding I always relax in the drops turning my hands to the inside
Increase the padding instead of cutting the excess off.
It's possible to wrap the bar from the other end too.
It's possible but why? It's just a better WAY or method to start from the bottom of the handlebar...
Great...I need at least 1 hour per bar tape
How do you bike in those sweet pants
Did a better job in a minute than I did in 45 minutes lol. Although I will defend myself by saying its more tricky with thicker bar tape haha
Moi jai un trek vtt
wrong direction as common nowadays
on the lower side
Anne Mone Grip your car's steering wheel and pull towards you. Which direction did your hands twist? He's got it right.
Please have a look and always be blessed. Sincerest regards.
Like the guy at my LBS says, "White tape? It won't be white for long".
I dont understand why trek wraps this towards the inside, almost everyone wraps outwards.
@EJ Fronczek ya he says cus riders grip it tighter while riding. Actually thats not an explanation. Riders tend to grip the bars towards the outside which is why wrapping towards inside is not great. I mean trek doesn't even wrap their bikes this way.
It's common to begin wrapping the drops to the outside and cross to wrapping inwards on top. It's the way I do it because they say that's the way you pull. I'm not even sure if it's true actually!!
I screwed up here: 1:37
Oh god I forgot some of the stuff 😡😡😡😡
ohhhh shit
oh oh shit
oh oh oh shit
oh oh oh oh shit
oh x5 shit
wrong direction!
Bloody PooH nothing like telling a professional mech he is doing it wrong.
Bloody PooH, you're wrong bro.
With modern adhesive tape the direction of wrap doesn't matter at all as long as you wrap it nice and tight, some people even swear by wrapping from tops to drops even though it isn't recommended. Also, pros have their tape replaced regularly anyway, so durability isn't so much of a problem for them. I imagine this is especially true of pros with white tape.
That's exactly what I thought. but I'm looking at a brand new 2019 Trek Emonda sitting on our sales floor and it's wrapped exactly the way he is demonstrating. Who knew?! Works for me.
and thats a wrap lol
Yet another video displaying how to wrap tape wrong due to laziness.
I'm a now retired professional bicycle mechanic/fabricator at 57 years old ( still riding road racers and doing maintenance on my own steeds ). Wrapping bar tape bottom to top is easy. Wrapping from top to bottom is an art form. Using any type of finishing tape on a wrap ?? Totally unnecessary. People that want to bitch about possible roll over of a wrap if done from top to bottom ? Well, they quite evidently don't know how to do a tight & right wrap.
So it’s completely ok wrapping from top to bottom? I’ve seen a vid here on youtube do that, looks neat and clean. Haven’t tried it tho.
It most certainly is okay wrapping top to bottom. And you're right, it is a neat and clean technique. It takes practice, but once a person gets it down they can throw on a new tape set rather quickly. Actually, two of my racing steeds are in need of new wrap come this Spring and the first thing I'll do after taking the rolls out of their packaging is throw the finishing tape and the little wrap strips that are supposed to go behind brake levers straight into the trash. Absolutely no need for them.
@@ReneeNme I'm not trying to be cheeky, but I truly think you should post a video of replacing on how to replace the tape with any extra electrical tape, because it sounds like you've got lots of experience! Please upload a video to educate people. I'd definitely watch it.
@@ReneeNme Art form? sure
