I'm gonna tell you a crazy story. My disco sister Tyra started dating this gorgeous, young, swarthy man named "JC" we'll call him. He was not a dance club culture person. It was all new to him. And one night at Vinyl, at Danny Tengaglia's "Be Yourself" party, JC asked me "what do you mean when you talk about a REAL CLUB?" - ['Cause that was something I think I mentioned a few times in my great snobbery, I suppose. *blush*] Sitting in the lounge room where you could get water and (did we smoke in there?) he asked me, What is a real club? And I said something along these lines: "I guess what I mean when I say a 'Real Club' is a place where everybody's a great dancer. In the places I don't consider 'real' people are always coming up to me: "Oh You're Such a Great Dancer!" / "OMG I Love You!" et cetera. In a 'real club' everybody's a great dancer. I'm just one of them." Something like that. Of course, I pointed out - VINYL was certainly a very REAL CLUB. And I swear - not 5 minutes later - we're all out on the dancefloor at Vinyl on a Friday night, and this BEAUTIFUL, tall, broad-shouldered blond muscular YOUNG HUNK with this gorgeous, curvy young lady at his side, both smiling ear to ear - he comes up to me with her in tow, and says something like, "Dude, I'm not gay; I'm not trying to come onto you or anything. My girl and me, we're from Philly and we don't see people that move like you there. You are so beautiful and we're just having such a great time watching you." !!! Something like that. Where else in the world do older gay men have young straight guys come up and PUBLICLY say they think you are beautiful?!? I've had LOTS of extraordinary experiences in my life. MANY. But this one always stood out. It reminded me to be humble when I can. To judge others much less. AND to appreciate that even in a room full of amazing dancers - I am something SPECIAL. Just by being myself. That's what Danny Tenaglia at Vinyl taught me one friday night. I remember saying that Vinyl was the capital of academic dance club culture. I freaking loved that place so much. Very much a "real" dance club !!! *smile*
Vinyl, formerly Shelter and before that, Area in the 80s. Danny T, previous jock at the only better spot IMO @ the original Sound Factory with Jr. on 27th Street.
This Production is so High & professional , it's like a beacon of house tunes that Represent " Dance Music " & If it were to be sent in to Space " on a Gold Disc " Another Race would Listen to it & get the word out " Be Your self "
this track, this specific mix, was the first song I fell in love with after moving to the city. Dancing on Thursday nights at Splash because I could walk there from 30th Street and the cover was like $5 or free, and I was a grad student at Parsons, so I couldn't go clubbing to all the big places. But i remember this track. !!! I heard it and cried almost the first I heard it. I knew it was FOR ME. Thank you so much. - Julien
This sounds like the version I've always had. Definately one of, if not the, top track from Tenaglia. Surprisingly I can't recall ever hearing this track at the "Be Yourself" parties with Tenaglia as resident DJ. Now I notice something different, that "spooling up sound" around 3min wasn't there in the version I've got. Can't say whether I like it, one of my fav things about this track has always been its' simplicity.
Could never mix this….. my brain won’t get the off beat start. Remember seeing him to a 12 (or was it 24hr) mix at homelands back in the day. Epic doesn’t come close
The first kick is at about 1:40, start mixing from there - or just play it from the start with that awesome intro. I still have this on vinyl somewhere in my mum's garage :)
OMG this is just amazing and thank you Tiago because this has changed my whole mood and will therefore change my day. WOW WOW AND OH, DID I SAY WOW. LOL ZIPI
Celeda I met you when I was 16 years old. I was one of Rick's girls, Sally. Remember me and my sister and the time we shared in WI? I will never forget it. I think of you from time to time and bump your epic house music to this day. I'll always remember you, you were a positive influence on me at a young age. I've had quite a life and I wish I could find you and get in touch with you.
Can't believe I can't find the ORIGINAL mix on youtube! I will dust off my sand ibiza laiden vinyl & upload grains n all when I have time! But this is very close nice one:)

Timeless 👌❤️❤️❤️🔨
go Danny GO....!!!!
It's on Celeda's "This Is It" album
Yotto dropped this track at Anjunadeep Bristol, hard to describe how good it sounded even after all these years.
i been listening to EDM since 1988, this is prob the best track ever!!
Adam Foley edm is another genre now don't call this edm
Yeah, It's almost kind of jarring to hear that. But - I get it. I don't mean to be rude. But to hear this referred to as EDM is -*ugh* DISAPPOINTING.
Call it EBM at the very least
Definitely not EDM. 🙁
Since 88?
Shouldn't even be classed EDM.
Thank you.
Vinyl with Danny twilo with Junior tunnel with Eddie and sound factory with Jonathan, Friday and Saturday nights in the 90s and early 2000 😞
