    Welcome Hermont back to the channel! Hermont and I played our first video for the first time almost a year ago. Since then he went on a winning streak on the channel and eventually lost to Clay. I like to play from the baseline and have a weaker serve while Hermont plays a solid ground game with a big serve. Today we try another set out.
    Leave some nice comments below for Hermont and me for playing this set on The Challenge Court!

    After watching Hermont play so many times... Very hard to believe he's a 5.0 player. Has great consistency, strong serve, and great mental game. Easily a 5.5 player, especially coming from D1.

    This guy did a better job of exposing Winston's backhand side weakness than other high level UTR juniors who played him.

    For a short guy Hermont has a great first serve. I keep looking at his mechanics to figure out how he does it. Toss seems to be overhead (as opposed to in front) allowing him to make contact at a higher point. He always puts on a little spin but not much. Basically it's extreme precision every time with small margin for error.

  • @jaygt4
    @jaygt4 Před 7 měsíci +8

    The biggest difference is definitely the serve ... however the depth of Hermont's strokes are just a bit deeper allowing him to attack more often. Cool to see the difference between at 4.5-5.0 ... as being a 5.0 I've always wondered. It's like looking at a mirror with Hermont's style of attacking all court play.

      And his peakUTR was also 12.5 that’s definitely higher than 5.0.
      And also Winston can only get one game off of him when he’s played against other 5.0s he usually does pretty well.
      Hermont also decimated Ryan in the UTR tournaments that Winston had on his channel, and he’s a 5.0.

    • @gozer825
      @gozer825 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hermont definitely 5.5. 5.0 is sandbagging to win tournaments. But then age gets to us all so it’s hard to sustain a 5.5 level throughout a whole tournament.

    Winston, work on making the first serve a weapon and hit higher balls on your forehand. Also do not return the ball exactly where the opponent position is, make him move at every shot and he will run out of steam! Great video as usual!

    the stats are pretty obvious - the match chart looks funny, after the first game it's almost a straight line with where you only got 5 points ;-)
    The difference in serve was huge. Hermont hit 4 aces and 5 more service winners. You had 52% 1st serve percent but he was able to attack some of those as well.
    Hermont won 9/10 points at the net

    Winston, your game has improved so much. One thing though. On your first serve, work on snapping your wrist as you strike the ball. This will give you the pace and disguise that you really need on your first serve. I'm telling you, it will make a huge difference. This also allows you to pronate the wrist in any direction so that your opponent will have more difficulty reading the serve. Great vids! Keep it up! Subbed

    Great match! I'd say Hermont's rating should be a tad higher than 5.0. One piece of advice for Winston: Take more distance from the baseline on the returns, specially if you are up against a good/great server. Don't need to go as back as Medvedev, but giving you more distance means more time to react!

    Yo W D. I never was as good as you and never will be especially now with my advanced age. With that said; you have a tremendous amount of talent. It seem however your tactics are subverting your techniques. It's like you are often out of position running backwards and disappearing out of the frame. It happens in every video. With that said, I really like what you're doing for tennis. You have set the standard for non tour match play. Please consider hooking up with your buddy Karue, Nik or one of these other teaching pros & have him/them develop positioning-tactical drills for you. You say you are a 4.5 - 8.9 NPRP-UTR. Your skill set is actually much higher from my perspective. Don't forget CoCo. Everybody was calling for her to fix her forehand. Brad comes in and makes simple adjustments on her positioning. Also let someone help you to get more power and variety on your serve. Tennis specific strength training would be good too. Lastly it's time to get mean & nasty. As it is said: "nice guys never win"... Anyway, didn't mean to put it out there like this, but CZcams has no system to leave private messages. MEAN WHILE; KILLEM ALL, LET THE LAND SORT EM OUT..🎾🤺😁

    2 things:
    1) why do you stand on the baseline while he’s serving bombs at you?
    Just stand as far back as you can, hit a deep high ball back and get back closer to the baseline.
    You’re missing so many returns because there’s no time.
    Look at the pros.
    They’re all super far behind the baseline when they return 1st serves at least.
    2) ball toss is super far to the left, it looks like you’re in your own way, hence no power.
    Look how Hermont tosses the ball always to his right, hitting side of the body as a right hander.

    From the comfort of my armchair, I would say you use that lasso forehand a tad too frequently. I would try to ween yourself off of that shot and only use it when you really need to, i.e. when you are late to the ball - your flat forehand is way more effective.
