Jesus words "the abomination of desolation" (Catholic Douay Version and King James Bible, or "the disgusting thing that causes desolation", 2013 New World Translation) at Matthew 24:15, whereby he was quoting from Daniel 9:26, 27, means the realm of politics called "the wild beast" at Revelation 13, that will desolate, or totally annihilate, all the religions of the world called Babylon the Great which have told nothing but lies, and in which Christendom is a major part. (Rev 17:5)
These are in a "love affair" with each other, as Revelation 17:1, 2 describes, being so intimate as to ' commit sexual immorality ', with the religions of the world intermixed with the realm of politics and vice versa. The minor fulfillment of Jesus words was the destruction of the nation of Israel by the Roman armies from 66-70 C.E., whereby the sacred temple was completely demolished, so that ' not a stone was left on a stone '.(Matt 24:2)
This "love affair" that has been going on for millennial between "religion" and "politics" (that are so interlocked as to be almost "one and same"), will come to a screeching halt, because God is the force behind the destruction of the religions of the world by the political "ten horns" (Rev 17:12), the member nations of "the scarlet-colored wild beast", the United Nations.(Rev 17:3)
Here is a Biblical example of a religious body of people, the two tribe kingdom of Judah with its capital city of Jerusalem, that was rejected by its "lovers" and decimated in 607 B.C.E. by ancient Babylon.(2 Kings 25:1-10) At Lamentation 1, it says:
"How she now sits all alone, the city (of Jerusalem, that pictures the entire kingdom) that was full of people ! How she has become like a widow, she who was populous among the nations ! How she who was a princess among the provinces has been put to forced labor ! She weeps profusely during the night, and her tears cover her cheeks. Not one of all her lovers (of Egypt, Assyria, and even the Chaldeans before Nebuchadnezzar took the throne in 625 B.C.E., see Eze 16:26-29) is there to comfort her."
"All her own companions have betrayed her; they have become her enemies. Judah has gone into exile under affliction and harsh slavery. She must dwell among the nations; she finds no resting-place. All her persecutors have overtaken her in her distress."(Lam 1:1-3)
So, at Revelation 17:16, 17, it states: "And the ten horns (member nations of the United Nations) that you saw and the ("scarlet-colored") wild beast (the United Nations), these will hate the (symbolic) prostitute and will make her devastated and naked,"
"and they (the world of politics) will eat up her flesh and completely burn her with fire. For (Jehovah, see Ex 6:3, KJV) God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought, yes, to carry out their one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished."
So, ALL the religions of the world who are massively blood guilty (see Rev 18:24), that includes Christendom with its Catholicism, is "staring down the barrel", for when Jehovah's appointed time arrives to put "his thought" into the hearts of the political elements to make them "devastated and naked", this will forever end their existence.(see Rev 19:1-3)

There is no "midpoint of Jacob's troubles", for where did that come from (unless you are looking at Jer 30 and grasping it wrong), but at Matthew 24, Jesus pointed to the words of Daniel 9, whereby at verse 24, it says that there would be "seventy weeks (of years, or 490 years) that have been determined for your (Daniel's) people and your holy city (Jerusalem), in order to terminate the transgression, to finish off sin, to make atonement for error, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up the vision and the prophecy, and to anoint the Holy of Holies."
At Daniel 9:25, it says that "from the issuing of the word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until the Messiah the Leader, there will be 7 weeks and 62 weeks (or 69 weeks of years, 483 years), with "the issuing of the word to restore and rebuild Jerusalem" being the starting point when Nehemiah received approval from King Artaxerxes in 455 B.C.E., to rebuild Jerusalem's walls.(Neh 2:1-10)
At Daniel 9:26, 27, it gives more details, such as "after 62 weeks Messiah will be cut off (in death on Nisan 14, 33 C.E.), with nothing for himself ". Then it says that "the people (the Roman armies) of a leader (first under Syrian Governor Cestius Gallus in 66 C.E. who with his army of some 6,000 soldiers was slaughtered by Jewish Zealots at Beth-horon, but completed by General Titus) who is coming will destroy the city (of Jerusalem) and the holy place (of the temple, whereby "by no means will a stone be left here upon a stone", Matt 24:2)."
"And its end (in 70 C.E.) will be by the flood (of soldiers, whereby Titus army is about 10 times the size of Cestius Gallus, of some 60,000 soldiers). And until the end there will be war (no truces); what is decided upon is desolations (or total destruction)........."
"And on the wing (or all the way to the end) of disgusting things (the political system that the world puts its faith into rather than God's heavenly Kingdom, that is "disgusting" to Jehovah God, and in this case the Roman political system with its armies) there will be the one causing desolations (General Titus, who took over for his father Vespasian in 69 C.E., see Joel 2:4-9);"

That was the minor fulfillment of Jesus words at Matthew 24:15, while the major fulfillment encompasses every single person on the earth in the near future, that will be the greatest "tribulation" ever (see Dan 12:1), whereby at Matthew 24:21-31, Jesus makes this clear, saying that "there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again."
"In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short. Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look ! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There !’ do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. Look ! I have forewarned you."
"Therefore, if people say to you, ‘Look ! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For just as the lightning comes out of the east and shines over to the west, so the presence of the Son of man will be."

There will be phase one of the "great tribulation" (see Rev 16:1-21) leading up to phase two of the "great tribulation" that is also called Armageddon, "the war of the great day of God the Almighty" (Rev 16:14, 16), whereby the political system with its some 8 billion supporters are annihilated by God's heavenly Kingdom.(see Jer 25:29-33; Dan 2:44, 45; Rev 19:11-21)
And the "Antichrists" is Christendom (see 1 John 2:18-23), that will be made "devastated and naked" in phase one of the "great tribulation", along with the rest of the religions of the world called Babylon the Great.(Rev 17:5, 16, 17)
