  • I have 100,000 km on my outfit in the past 6 months and decided to showcase my trailer. It is a 53' Lode King stepdeck with ramps. I have hauled a wide variety of freight on it so here's what I love and hate about it.

    Make sure your dunnage racks have a closed end, or the dunnage can slide out.

    Snap Binder and Ratchet Binder is all I ever heard in my years of flatbed/step deck running...who'da thunk a Ratchet Binder is a Boomer?

    Does your trailer being 9’ wide require a special permit or is it legal every where or just some places

    How much does this stepdeck trailer cost? Why is trailer more effective that the other once?

      I notice you still tie down the bucket of the loader. No need to.
      Heavy vehicles
      89(1) (2)
      (3) (4)
      Heavy vehicles shall be transported in accordance with this section.
      Accessory equipment on a heavy vehicle, including a hydraulic shovel, shall be completely lowered and secured to the vehicle unless:
      (a) the accessory equipment can only move vertically;
      (b) accessory equipment that can pivot, tilt or move sideways is blocked or immobilized by the transporting vehicle’s structure or by a blocking or securement mechanism built into the transported vehicle.
      Articulated vehicles shall be restrained in a manner that prevents articulation while the vehicle is on a highway.
      Despite section 22, a heavy vehicle with crawler tracks or wheels shall be restrained against moving sideways, forward, rearward and vertically by at least 4 tiedowns,
      (a) each with a working load limit of at least 2 268 kilograms, and
      (b) each attached, as close as practical, at the front and rear of the vehicle or to mounting points on the vehicle that are specifically designed for that purpose.
      So unless it can swing , the bucket doesn’t need a tie down.

      @@TrewFred I've always been told to secure the attachments too if for no other reason than to minimize play that will mark-up/dig into your deck. I'm US though
