Anyone who says debate is awesome because Plato hasn't ever read Plato. He was constantly criticizing the Sophists for debating just for the sake of it, using their skills to make the worse argument appear the better. Aristotle made similar points in his Rhetoric, among other works.

@@EthnHDmlle There is no point to it. Just watch how Hasan community react to the Norm debate and how Destiny community react to the exact same debate. If the truth was all that matter, both community would agree on who "won" that debate.
Hasan is completely right but debate bros aren't bad. Being "right" doesn't really mean anything to your average person who doesn't have the time or energy to interpret numbers, read up on history, or listen to both sides of an argument. Thats why debate bros try to condense ideas into entertaining soundbites for their audience. That's why we turn numbers into charts, turn speeches into soundbites, and turn manifestos into slogans.
I always wondered why leftist types are the only people who are actively scared of debate (and playing politics) or debate bros when virtually every other ideology loves their little e-celebs and slimy political figures. It's like they love being a niche ideology with little actual support.

It’s most evident with his 180 on Israel/palestine. He was always on the pro Palestine side until falling out with Hasan and now just seems to want to take up positions that he knows would piss Hasan off. That’s simplifying it of course and his fans will disagree but as someone who had been watching him for maybe ten years I watched it all happen. First he was arguing for positions he held, then it became about the arguments themselves and he started to think he was a philosopher and finally the arguments were inextricably linked to his ego. If someone annoys him personally on some level their positions must be wrong and he has to find arguments against them regardless of whether he actually believes in what he’s saying or not.

Also the founding fathers did not debate over most things, with a couple of exceptions they were all there to explore the best way to carry out the same goals and they explicitly discluded anyone who was not on the same page; they wanted to remove the monarchy’s control over their new country and they wanted to make sure that goal stuck, and all ‘debate’ was in service of those ends, they did not sit around endlessly discussing whether or not to have a king

I started my journey down the leftist pipeline, if you can call it that, by watching Vaush at first. I was watching mostly Vaush for a bit and a little bit of Hasan until Vaush debated Professor Flowers a couple of years ago and that's when I immediately stopped watching his content because I found that debate really gross. It became clear to me, at least subconsciously, that Vaush was merely in it for the sport of it while Hasan believed and based his entire philosophy around leftist ideals which appealed to me way more.
oh god that vaush and professor flower drama was so fucking bad
@@oly_or_smth very bad, but ultimately good for me and my mental health so that I didn't keep going deeper into the debate sphere
Whole drama was completely stupid, I ignored it
That debate was the pinnacle of bad faith on both sides I stuck around with Vaush for a bit longer cus there was some still entertainment value but then it came out he was a Loli porn consumer and I just lost all ability to even humour Vaush or his fans. Overtime I've come to understand how fucking stupid Vaush was not because all of his ideas are cracked but because of how terribly he explained himself and how he genuinely believed he was this perfect leftist with godlike debate skill when in reality in order to defend him, you have to spend literal hours of sifting through extremely poorly put together arguments and even when I had tried find what he was trying to say, I just got fed up with him constantly being lazy.
His behaviour after the Professor Flowers debate also annoyed me because he continued to smear her despite it being very obvious that Flowers was trying to talk about resistance against apartheid and imperial powers and Vaush was talking about Autocratic Grifting and violence in Africa. Not realising that he and her were talking about resisting the same fucking thing.
Vaush just has this amazing talent of talking to someone who should logically agree with him in nearly every point and becoming the worst enemy and categorically misunderstanding every point to the point you begin to question if this Mfer is doing it on purpose. Also Vaush, Destiny will never message you back please stop simping for him GOD XD
Sorry, this comment surfaced a lot of frustration I have at Vaush

It’s funny because it’s fairly likely Socrates was made up by Plato, as a mouth piece. Additionally, dialectical thinking isn’t always the actual exchange of ideas between different people … it’s seeing an issue/ question from multiple perspectives. Plato’s DIALOGUES are uniquely poetic, and meant to be parabolic as opposed to actual debates/ dialectic method
I feel like the bait is only productive if the audience has a good understanding of the topic being spoken about. Otherwise it's just about who can bullshit better. It’s always the people that can’t debate their points well that say debate is useless lmao
Okay...here's the concession I'll give...and it may not be 100% true. But back from like 2013-2017 the online space was a nightmare of right-wing hate shit. Gamergate and the alt right and what have you (yes faaaaar worse than now). But breadtuber essayists and a certain debate streamer came along and I swear everything shifted. @@garywebb2432You deserved to called out for your parasocial hate.
@@troubadour0663
its para-love not hate
get it right next time
@garywebb2432 “Mutually exclusive” yah sure thing bud keep telling yourself that while you waste your life defending your streamer. Not a hasan fan btw but its so funny seeing losers like you trying to debate people in YT comments 😂🫵
Idk man destiny talks to people who disagree with him while Hasan would “destroy Ben” wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole
TRUUUE lmaoo
Nobody who watched that would care. They would just say their guy “won” - Hasan talks to plenty of people who disagree with him, he just doesn’t want the contention of a “debate”
@Icynova Who did he talk to? The latest, most prominent one i can think of is the Piers Morgan one.
Shapiro is a tard 💀
I think Hasan said he would to open to talking to Ben Shapiro multiple times. So did Sam Seder from Majority Report. Yet the entire Intellectual Dark Web keeps ducking them.
I have a hard time with Hasans perspective here. Isn’t a commentator just a debator who isn’t challenged? Hasan is presenting or reacting to news from a particular angle with the goal of convincing masses to his side.
Just because he doesn’t have an opponent on the other end doesn’t make him demonstrably distinguishable from the people he’s critiquing.
What debate brain does to a mf
to me there isn't an issue because well the goal qould be to develop his point without debating semantics and personnal attacks to break tgmhe chain of thought. He is open about his opinions and biaises (as far as i know). So instead of meaningless debates you have someone at least attempting to develop his point of view and his opinions. It doesn't make him right or wrong but you can judge the value based on the ideas shared rather than on who talked louder, faster and used more 4 syllable words.
@@Automatedresponsebot5
thats not an actual response to anything he just typed lmaoo
that's why he doesn't call himself a debater or journalist. he is a propagandist.
This is a prime example of a debate bro smooth brain. You're playing semantics instead of actually addressing the point Hassan made
Hasan is literally a debate channel that just doesn't have dissenting opinions on lol
You just described commentary
He literally hasn’t debated in ages. He talks about politics and propaganda
Still upset about destiny getting wrecked huh?
He was on Piers Morgan like twice. But again hasan has said he doesnt really do those because he knows most dont take debates serious in educating
this is what happens when you neglect the education system...
A Debate is just BS because people can lie and mislead as long as they keep straight face, without being stop right at their tracks to be called out by the the moderator and scolded or deducted points for it, in fact the moderator 99% knows shit about the topic so you can BS your way as long as you look confident, is a sport a game of deceit and argumentation that doesn't have to be attached to the truth.
What do you think is the right way to discover the truth?
