- The NEW X3 M Competition has the MOST POWERFUL straight six in a current BMW! Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo inline-6 that is pumping out 503 HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic and transferring power to the ground through an AWD system. The problem with this engine is that the connecting rods are not forged and they come from the f90 M5 and they are not all that strong... so to me the isn’t forged connecting rods are a weak point in an engine like this...

Great review. Love this SAV. I ended up choosing the M40i because the performance was so close. Wouldn't mind the cross-drilled rotors but happy so far.
I just bought the X3 M40i and it is awesome, although it "only" has 355 HP. Great review.
The BMW's X3 looks to be the size of the early year X5's. They really got larger yet not over sized like many SUV's.

Lower rear truck height possible! - if you order the free optional tire inflator kit, it deletes the spare tire and that 2" rise in the floor. Also, if you order the "M style" seatbelts, the black belts have one side that are edged with the three "M" colors in a nice, refined way.

BMW has definitely come out with some badass suv's. I'm not a fan of their cars, but the suv's are top notch, especially this particular vehicle! I have no need for an suv but this would be fun to haul around on the freeway on vacation for sure!

Incredible sleeper for the ones who don't know what M means. Those instruments are a very clean design. Much better than the new 3 series and 850I. As Matt from "Car Wow," says, well done BMW.

South Carolina, US. Most if not all X models are assembled there. Engine and transmission probably shipped from Germany though

A Swiss Army knife will last for years. This car will need 15 k in repair cost by 90 k miles. See what they want for a 100k warranty for a bmw. I told the dealer that 8k for warranty says something. Same warranty for Lexus was 2800. Why? The Lexus model was was close to the same msrp.
@@gregblack8550 I agree. I was really saying that it can serve multiple roles. Although I love the car, I don't think I would buy it unless I was absolutely swimming in cash to afford the accompanying maintenance costs.
What's your preference for acceleration, handling, driving dynamics. This BMW or Jaguar F-Pace SVR? Brakes get the edge on the BMW I'm pretty sure.

Audi's virtual cockpit puts BMW's instrument cluster to shame. Performance BMW M is amazing but they need to update that dash.
Love the interior color options BUT sounds like 250hp, nothing mean and intimidating when next to a AMG, SRT, etc

My 2020 has alot of different things. I like my m40i better. And I think it has the comp engine in it. With that exc. Pkg. And shadow line. It's insane and I love every once of my new car.

@RobertGrant80 mine has a B58 engine. Still running strong. I'm going to trade for a new 2024 x3 m40i. Gotta keep it new and under warranty. Never any problems.
