No. Just like scubadiving, as long as you bring them up slowly, they're fine. We don't catch them deep at Donner, to start with, (less than 80ft), but the first 33 feet is the biggest problem usually. I've caught them and their air bladder is a little blown up, but as long as they have enough energy to swim down to 33 feet, they're going to make it (I watch them on the fishfinder after release alot). Tight Lines 🤙
@@shaunrainsbarger1478 thank you very much! I’m from the Sacramento area and I recently bought a boat and I’ve always wanted to catch a mackinaw. Grew up trolling for trout around home. I’m going to donner next summer so I think I’m gonna give the mackinaw fishing a try. But I want to do it responsibly and not hurt the fish
Wow! Shaun A super bite is on. Very nice fish and your concern for the fishes safe recovery and release.
Hi Shaun, Enjoyed the video so I subscribed. What are your favourite Lake Trout lures?
Everything from flatfish to Rapalas
Rack ‘‘em nice 🎣
You don’t have to release them by sending them back down to depth on the Downrigger with a timed release clip?
