About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

Jeremy, thank you for all of your great and inspiring videos. I've started making knives, something I've wanted to do for 30 years and absolutley love it! Thank you sir!
Love the videos!! Please post more often!
Thank you!
I’ve missed SLL from my CZcams feed. Great to see you back, Jeremy.
Another excellent tutorial!
🇬🇧🙏🏻🇨🇦
This is a GREAT video. No nonsense, no music and great helpful information a wonderful art. Great explanation about the burr on the knife edge, I was curious. I create a burr on my woodworking scrapers kind of wondered if they were the same. Thanks again for sharing this very informative video.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it and thanks for the kind words and for watching. Cheers👍
With your stainless envelope, can you use like a paint brush roller or some kind of roller that can conform to the knife and roll the oxygen/air out of the end of the envelope before your final "sealing" crimp. Obviously not going to get all oxygen out but just a thought!! Sweet knife, great video!!
If I interrupted my dad while he was filming even if he had just finished he would still freak out 🥲 good job and not freaking out or getting upset at him.
This might be one my favorite of your videos. Tons of detail and even specific questions I had were answered and as always looks and sounds phenomenal. Keep it up brother!
I crunched the numbers for you. 96.734% of the work is done. Great vid as always. Ive always enjoyed the work noise sped up.
😆👍
So many more intricate details when working with stainless steel that I’d never thought of, awesome video man I’ll be sure to check out some of your others!

I have been making for around a year and a half now, and I would definitely credit you and your videos like this with getting me started. Great to see you're still at it!
Man two in one day! It's like Christmas! I'm with you on the water dunk. I like it due to the time savings. I've read some forum posts where people smarter than me were saying there was actually a slight advantage... but sounds negligible to me. - Edit: just got to the end... great video as always sir! Loved it all.
I started doing it after watching your videos!! 👍🏻 never knew there might be a performance advantage! Haha
@@donny6363 "may be..." lol, I'm really not sure! It does save me some time though!
Where's tool time Tuesday,

I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Just getting started, this really helps a lot watching you. Thanks for the good information.
I've totally done a normalizing cycle on knives that I was gonna temper in my kiln, and I have the tap control! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's done it!
Excellent job! Thank you
Finally!!!! Really been missing your videos!!!
ive been making knife for a very long 3 to 4 months lol notice the single tense in knife, yes one knife. i am still enjoying it very much and the biggest thing ive learned is I NEED TOOLS LIKE YOU GUYS.i thank you for all the info that u pass along. ive never done any metal work past sharpening a couple of lawn mower blades on a bench grinder, so this has been a very educational road. ive learned how little i know. my first is{now complete} a bushcrafting spearpoint out of a 1923 sawmill blade about 3/16 thick. i am assuming it is a high carbon still. so i heat treated it in a wood fire in my back yard. i heated it to the point it wouldnt draw a magnet, quenced it in cooking oil i pretreated with a railroad spike. then tempered it in the oven at 400 for 2 hours let it cool down there till the next day. it seems very hard, and hard to sharpen. i put it to a test this week making feather sticks and process wood (acually batoning it throuh wood as in splitting wood.) it was dissappointing to fell the edge was not as sharp when finished as i woud have thought. any advice on how to do my next blank from this 1923 saw mill blade?
Thanks for all your info that you so generously put out there. It is really helpful. Greetings from South Africa
You’re welcome. It’s a lot of fun to share what little I’ve learned and I do appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍

Nice tip with the black rouge on the polishing wheel! Definitely a bummer when you have to keep going back and forth between the finishing polish and hand sanding some of those places I missed.
Mate you are an amazing craftsman
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words.
Awesome content man, thanks for the tips! 🤘🏼
Great video and knife my friend! I think that is very similar to the model of your knives that I have except blade may be slightly narrower - I love it, btw!

Beautiful work! The blade looks thicker than 1/8, more like 3/16 - nice and beefy.
Thanks. It is 1/8”. Online video doesn’t always look like reality 😆👍
Amazing video!!
I would love to buy one of these knives. That's my dream edc shape and size.
Wich grit Trizact belt did you use for this knife?
Great video and good to have you back in making such great detailed and awesome videos, I am just starting out and have heard 90% of what you say in many other videos, but you always have some new and great tips and techniques in there. Really entertaining and helpful! THanks a lot for that!
Beautiful knife much nicer than my edc Izula!
Very Very Good !!!
TOP , SHOW
BRASIL
Thank you!
I really love these blades. What is the over all length of them? they look like 3 finger knifes.
Very nice knives sir👍
Thanks 👍
I have seen your old video from 2016 about etching logo etc, on steel, that was a complex system, do you have a video where you explain the details of the system you are using in this video. I want to do some AC/DC etching and would like to know your whole process, from how to get the vinyl set up to the very end. THANKS
Man this is so awesome, really glad i found your channel! i am also from Alberta Canada and am looking to try my hand at knife making.
Right on! Thank you so much for watching and I hope your knifemaking goes really well 👍
@@Simplelittlelife thank you , are you still taking orders ? i was on your website i didnt see any current blades for sale.
Awsome again
Thank you so much!
Amazing bud
Thank you so much!
nice nice..
like surely
Pro at work. And very good teaching!! Thanks.
Did you do anything to get the texture finish near the spine of the very beautiful knive.
Regards from Denmark
21:42 😆 How well i do know that issues! Though is there any reason why you don't stamp your sign into the knife befor hardening?
Excelentes piezas felicidades
Good morning, sir. Thanks for the videos they have been extremely helpful. I have the same issue with my DIY jig. My knives are coming out with the bevels much lower than I'd like. How do we achieve a higher bevel with a jig? Is it due to a difference in angle? Did the second jig have a lesser angle so the belts bite further up the spine? I finally have a 2x72 Arriving today. I would like to improve what I have been producing and this specific issue is one of the "things that gets me"
Great looking blade.
Your flats on the blade appear stippled.
How was it done , I like the way it looks.
continued awesome work. nice tips. jealous of that solid steel jig setup. can I ask how they are made?
Thank you! I machined them out of solid blocks of steel on my milling machine.
I really like your videos with the narration. Thanks for putting this out there. BTW, what do you charge for a little EDC knife?
Beautiful. Great knives and skills. How do I order?
Hello Jeremy I would like to know what you would charge for 1 of those knives. I hunt and would like something to pass down to my daughters. You do such a good job 👏 I was just wondering.
Nice job Jeremey!!! Nice pair of knives!!! I have been gone for a while too, nice to see you back. Hows that spring in your knife holding up?
nice blades
Just curious as to why you picked 154cm vs. AEBL or Nitro-V? Just wondering for my own knowledge! Thanks and keep up the great work sir!
Can you do a video on building different jigs to get your bevel?
Wow 31k views and only 14 dislikes!? Good work sir!!!
extremely beautyfull!
New subscriber.. im really intrested in owning a TSPROF. Where did you get your attachment to hold a single blade directly in the center in video?
Hi do u sell those jigs for getting the beveled edge
0:32 I do agree with that. CPM 154 eats blades for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. After I start cutting it I always tell myself why did I buy it again?
@Edgar Taillon that fucking weird why would you whant to do that
@@brodylockley3141 he is just a bot
What kind of wheel did you use to cut those out
What light do you use on your grinder? thanks!
Hey I'm sponging up your knowledge. I thoroughly enjoy your work. I understand you are from Alberta and was wondering if we could talk about sourcing. I am an internet dum dum I'm 45km south of Edmonton .thank's very much.
Just wondering where you usually get your metal from?
Is there a reason why you don't do a preheat at 1600. And then ramp to 1950. Thanks for the videos its always good to see how others work. There's always something new to learn.
The scallops seam to look as if their there for extra grip I like those knives
I actually like all you projects you show us
Thank you so much!
That's a Beautiful small knife :-) Got to ask..How much with Kydex Sheath ??
Hey Jeremy, what degree is that 2nd beveling jig set at and what thickness material?
How much does the thickness of the material change the bevel height with the same jig when grinding the primary bevel to the target thickness?
