Hi! I’m an arab doll collector, just wanted to share “Amal” is pronounced “em-elle” put some stres on the “e” (like the letter أ ) soft on the m, and less stress on the “elle”. its a bit hard to explain in writing but i hope this helps!
Thank you! I’ve seen the name written but never given the pronunciation much thought and generally the translators spit things back at me with strange intonation that’s not always accurate aha

I love love this format, it makes me feel like im chillin with a friend that would be impossible to have here in the Bible Belt😅 although I got to see a little boy come by the doll aisle in walmart with mom picking out a Barbie for him! Even though dad acted embarrassed, mom was affirming 🥲💖 sorry for the cheesey story
Side note, i really like how the blurbs for each character has a little message of hope for the kid that plays with these

I really like videos about less well known dolls like Arabian Friends because I get to be introduced to such cool dolls and even if I don't want them I get to see you be happy with them.
I just did a little research. New Boy is based in Dubai UAE and sells toys in USA, Europe, India, Korea, Indonesia that's why theirs a lot of English on the packaging. They also make the Fulla doll which is the Middle East version of Barbie. The dolls are an interesting mix of cultural values and more progress lifestyles. Where as Barbie can do whatever she wants Fulla has restrictions but she is teaching young girls to broaden their horizons.

Had no idea you minored in Arabic and know the language that’s awesome ♥️ I remember these dolls advertised in the fulla Comics they used to sell back in the day. They looked beautiful. Theirs an Arabic cartoon channel called spacetoon that would also air the commercials of them. Sad they didnt last long but their definitely a gem 💎 maybe the fact that fulla was all the hype back then it was hard to market them well. Definitely remember them being sold in our version of Target or wallmart lol hope you snag the last character ☺️ goodluck! ♥️
I was the person on Twitter that got Ahlam! I was admittedly a little vague about the other ebay postings because I was thinking of going back and biting the bullet for Dunya, so I'm so happy you got her and I get to watch the unboxing! I still have mine in box because I'm planning on unboxing her for a special occasion (my birthday is also soon). I have a lot of ties to Lebanon and am trying to learn arabic so they're super special!
Oh, and I also have an absolutely insane saved search string for ebay to try to catch them if someone doesn't know what they have... so it was really funny that they turned up because the person just had them in the box, haha.
Super cool I'm glad you finally got them, as Arabic is my mother tongue you are pronouncing most of the words exceptionally well for Amal if you want to say it like Arabs it would be Aamal, from the packaging I can see the toy brand is New boy it's a well known brand at Arab countries they are based in united Arab of Emirates and they produce and distribute and even import from other international toy brands, stationary, nurseries and at some point they were at food production as well but I don't think they are anymore, so the English on the packaging is a normal thing for them as they trade and distribute at Europe and sometimes USA, they carry a lot of important toy brands to distribute at Arabian countries such like Hasbro and Disney
The green Arabian friends doll is also a grail of mine… So jealous’

Those dolls are so pretty! So happy for you that your found them! I didn't know you studied arabic in college, what made you interested in learning it? I think i heard you say before you work in the museum field and I'd love to hear more about that and how it relates to doll collecting!
The heads mold, the bodies, the shaped boxes and the 2000's fashion really give me Winx Club dolls by Giochi Preziosi vibes... 😅
They are made by the same company so no surprise xD
Even the W.i.t.c.h dolls by Giochi preziosi have similar faces to Winx Club by giochi preziosi.The company probably reused the face mold and bodies over and over again 😅

But for the Giochi Preziosi dolls, it never have surprised me: almost all their dolls from the 2000's years have the same mold. No wonder that there were people who didn't see the difference between Winx Club and W.i.t.c.h. XD
@@LucElementix Yes I think they only had 2 molds in the early 2000s:one for western cartoons like Witch or Winx and one mold for animes like:Mew mew power,Sailor moon and Mermaid Melody.Probably little me would've gotten Stella and Cornelia mixed up in the store if they had their clothes mixed up xD

my holiest grails are the mermaid melody dolls from Korea and the one from japan. they’re SO rare. I’ve only see 3 of the Japanese one and none of the Korean ones

An impossible grail for me isn't a doll, but it's the Yokai Watch Hikari Orochi model figure. It's nearly impossible to find one for sale that ships to the US.

If you’re savvy shopping online- Fulla seem pretty common from sites in Malaysia. I’ve never found the ones I’m looking for so I never go through with any purchases but they are there!
